Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Calendargirl Sun 29-Dec-24 11:26:26

We’ve had more than enough baby scripts.

Abi’s child, the quads, Sarah’s Harry, poor little Oliver, baby Rose years ago, Bertie, Glory, now Lauren’s Frankie, Dee Dee’s, mini Ty, Fiz’s abortion…..who have I missed out?

Oh, and of course David and Shona suddenly decided to have a child, but perhaps that’s off the cards now.

We knowGails gone but I ve also heard Audrey, David, Debbie and Evelyn are all leaving ?? Going to be some difficult storylines if they are all off

Noooooo...not David and Evelyn they are two of my favourite characters.
Wouldn't especially miss Audrey and/or Debbie.
Wish that Bethany, Leanne and Gemma would fall down the sinkhole (actually I suppose that has been filled in by now) perhaps they could all take a long holiday grin

Makes you wonder if a) they are going before they are pushed or b) they are deserting the sinking ship.

Aveline Sun 29-Dec-24 12:09:52

That could all be clickbait hype though. Actors go off to take part in other plays etc or to have babies but return soon enough.
We all complain about Corrie but we all still watch it!

Grannynannywanny Sun 29-Dec-24 13:13:33

I think Evelyn/Maureen Lipman disappears occasionally for theatre productions. I always enjoy her in Corrie but I must admit her recent storyline where she gatecrashed the conference with Alya was annoyingly silly.

It’s hard enough to swallow Alya’s legal experience without trying to suggest Evelyn could pose as a solicitor.

I’d be sorry to see Debbie leave. I enjoy her character and I’d like to see more of her.

Clawdy Mon 30-Dec-24 08:59:10

Pretty certain David isn't leaving, and Maureen Lipman says she's taking a break but will return. The others mentioned may be going, I heard there's a sad storyline coming up for one of them, hope it's not true. Sick of these depressing storylines.

kevin is going to be using the hospital bed next
on news.
Coronation Street stars are reportedly set to be offered shorter contracts amid declining viewing figures and financial woes.

Calendargirl Mon 30-Dec-24 20:29:20

I think it’s the writers who need to be on shorter contracts, or preferably given the push.

lemsip Mon 30-Dec-24 20:40:45

I agree,

Charleygirl5 Mon 30-Dec-24 22:29:24

It is so miserable these days. We cannot continue like this for much longer.

I read somewhere that Ken may be leaving. Of course, Cassie could easily help him there. I cannot stand her, so I would be delighted to see her go. I thought Leanne and David were going, but we will no doubt find out soon.

Corrie on tonight ( Tuesday)

Doodledog Tue 31-Dec-24 19:03:59

I don’t want to be a party poop, but would people be happier if I started a separate ‘no spoilers’ thread? I very deliberately don’t read sources of spoilers but do like to discuss possible scenarios and comment on plot lines on here. It spoils it for me if I hear who is leaving or what is happening next.

Aveline Tue 31-Dec-24 19:11:20

Sometimes these spoilers are wrong or at least misleading eg scare story that Eileen is leaving but she was only going to be in a play. It's the same about Evelyn. The internet puts up these clickbait stories.

Charleygirl5 Tue 31-Dec-24 19:13:47

Doodledog my apologies, my lips remain sealed in future.

It is only on for 30 minutes tonight, so I am assuming that it will be 30 minutes tomorrow evening at a strange time because Vera is on at 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Doodledog Tue 31-Dec-24 23:05:29

Thanks, Charleygirl. I'd appreciate that.

I'm really not wanting to be difficult, but I hate hearing spoilers, and go out of my way not to hear them, despite my mother's best efforts grin.

BlueBelle Tue 31-Dec-24 23:12:48

Well it was boring tonight

Charleygirl5 Tue 31-Dec-24 23:24:50

I do not understand Cassie trying to kill Ken off. I doubt if she is in his Will, but surely she would benefit more financially by going on holidays paid for by him and spending evenings out.

Calendargirl Wed 01-Jan-25 07:18:27

I think it’s 7pm tonight, NYD.

Calendargirl Wed 01-Jan-25 07:21:25

I don’t think Cassie is trying to kill Ken off, just trying to make him feel frail and much more dependent on her. So they don’t get rid of her.

What does she keep putting in his drink?

Is she hoping he’ll marry her?

shock

BlueBelle Wed 01-Jan-25 07:40:13

I agree I think she’s hoping he’ll be so thankful and needing of her that he perhaps changes his will or she ll be signing some cheques for him or frauding him in some way
Shes after his money not him and she doesn’t want him dead or else she’s back to square one
The Carla and Swain situation was daft last night as I thought was David and Shona confessing all in front of the children

Allsorts Wed 01-Jan-25 07:59:42

Never thought it woukd cone to this but last night dudnt watch it Think Gail getting married was as daft as her taking off to Thailand. She was as grumpy and silly as is possible. Carla becoming Lesbian with Lisa!, Leanne now a raving lunatic, needs to be behind bars. The only ones I like are Ken, Maureen Lipman and Roy. All others have swopped partners, mostly murders. its ruined. Whats her name married to Kevin is so surgically changed as to be unrecognisable.

Calendargirl Wed 01-Jan-25 08:17:35

The Carla/Lisa storyline is just so cringey and frankly unbelievable. It makes me uncomfortable. I’ve no problems with seeing gay relationships up on the screen, but this one is just plain daft.

I don’t think a maneater like Carla would suddenly change her sexual preferences like that.

Maybe have a lesbian fling, but not a serious relationship.

And the David and Shona scenario was rubbish also.

They really are scraping the barrel.

Charleygirl5 Wed 01-Jan-25 09:04:25

Heaven knows who has ideas for these stupid storylines is beyond me. I agree; it is unlikely to be a maneater one day and a lesbian the next.

Sadly, the storylines are so ridiculous that it is becoming a take-it-or-leave-it situation, and soon, I will be inclined towards the latter.

Aveline Wed 01-Jan-25 09:19:08

Corrie waxes and wanes. There's been some very good storylines this year then some daft ones. I'll keep watching.

LovesBach Wed 01-Jan-25 10:49:40

Just occasionally there are flashes of humour and good writing, but they are so few and far between. The actors must be cringing at having to deliver such silly lines, and it seems the situation is worsening for them regarding payments. The news yesterday said many are doing promotions and taking other jobs to pay bills.
