Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Yes, last night’s episode plummeted new depths.

The prison scene, with the wardens cowering outside the visitor area, Matty with a knife, the entire feeble plot.

Then Dylan getting drunk in the alleyway, (where do they get the money to buy vodka etc)?

Carla and her kidney.

Bethany and Daniel, one minute planning a fancy wedding, then wondering about a marvellous job opportunity in London.

The scripts are just dire and absolutely laughable.

I agree about the prison scene Calendargirl it was dire. With so many cast members leaving and cut backs being made in other areas I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for poor old Corrie.

sodapop I am wondering if it will be the end of Corrrie too? I have watched it forever ha ha. As the saying goes 'go woke, go broke'. Sick of acters being shoehorned in to tick boxes. Being lectured all annoying!

I notice online that more are going of their own volition before they are pushed out. I did not realsie Yasmeen had been there for 11 years.

The scripts are dire, and how many people on minimum wage or just above can fairly frequently have breakfast in the cafe? Nobody at the factory makes a packed lunch—they all have sufficient money to buy sandwiches there.

This plot must be to arrange an exit for both Bethany and Daniel; he is unwell, it seems, and has planned to leave for some time, and she is expecting a baby, so a relocation to London would be the solution. The door is then open for Bethany to return minus Daniel, with the relationship having soured and his having decided to stay there, in spite of his Dad, son, family connections.... Poor Bertie - so few appearances, and very soon probably none.

Where is Todd? I haven't seen him in ages either, like other characters. The scriptwriters have lost their mojo where Todd is concerned. He has gone from being a nasty piece of work to an undertaker's assistant. I preferred him as a toerag, at least his storylines were more interesting.

Calendargirl Wed 15-Jan-25 20:31:25

Good to see Bertie looking so happy at his birthday party.

Did he smile once?hmm

And why did Daniel dash off to A&E with Daisy? It looked a bad fall 😂.

Surely they should have fetched Doctor Gaddas before calling the Corrie private ambulance service?

Beechnut Wed 15-Jan-25 22:26:11

Daniel and Kit bursting into Daisy’s room….what tosh.

Bertie had a birthday and no one told him it was Happy Birthday 😂

I had to think who Todd was for a minute Sarnia 😂

Charleygirl5 Wed 15-Jan-25 22:29:57

I would consider moving there solely for the medical service. Patients never have to wait more than minutes when they go to the hospital, either.

I was hoping Cassie would be outed and on her way with a single ticket. I cannot stand her.

vegansrock Thu 16-Jan-25 05:59:12

Now Kevin has a medical “issue”. I’m seriously thinking of stopping watching. I know it’s right to raise awareness etc but there’s only so many “issues” we can cope with at one time. I hardly think Daisy needed crutches after tripping over a plastic toy, but hey, no waiting 12 hours in an and e at Wetherfield General.

BlueBelle Thu 16-Jan-25 06:12:01

That was a bit pantomimey
Oh dear it’s getting rather farcical now
Carla just getting up off her deathbed to visit her bro in prison I thought you had to apply for visitors passes and wait to be approved for a certain days visit not just walk in to chat to a murderer any old time !!!

Calendargirl Thu 16-Jan-25 06:53:53

How far away from the hospital is the prison?

Did she jump in a taxi, did someone give her a lift, or did a friendly ambulance drop her off?

One minute laid there with tubes, drips and what not, then dressed and strolling into prison.

Oh, do hope Lauren’s interminable court case soon gets over and done with.

As for the ménage a trois, Daisy, Daniel, Kit….

And since when have Kit and Billy been bosom buddies?

Charleygirl5 Thu 16-Jan-25 07:34:27

Kit, being a lowly PC has obviously forgotten if interviewing anybody, especially a minor, surely it has to be done under caution and at the very least he should announce to the recording machine the time of the interview and who was present in the room.

Would he be allowed to conduct it on his own, or would he need a second person present?

I am unsure when Easter is, but Lauren's court case and that date tie in. I will be asleep by then.

Aveline Thu 16-Jan-25 11:41:22

Kit is Paul's brother so Billy is a sort of brother in law

Nanato3 Thu 16-Jan-25 12:33:10

With all the actors that are leaving there won't be many left soon .
I hope Roy and Evelyn never leave , they are about the only two that are believable !
I can't stand Ken and Cassie , I would be happy to see them go .
With both Jenny and Daisy leaving I wonder who will be the new landlord / landlady of the Rovers ? wine

Calendargirl Thu 16-Jan-25 12:52:11

Aveline

Kit is Paul's brother so Billy is a sort of brother in law

Isn’t Kit a half brother though, (nit picking here)?

Wasn’t he the result of a one night stand Bernie had with some random bloke? And so had a different dad to Paul and Gemma.

Not that it really matters in the great scheme of things.

So yes, I suppose Kit and Billy are sort of brothers in law.

confused

Aveline Thu 16-Jan-25 14:50:07

Whatever. It's just an explanation for Kit and Billy chatting the way they do. Mind you, everyone in Coronation Street knows everyone else there very well and are often related!

Beechnut Thu 16-Jan-25 15:29:22

And they all have each others phone number!

pinkprincess Thu 16-Jan-25 20:57:59

A load of inbreds in Corrie, they all seem to be related in some way and have slept with each other.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Jan-25 08:14:55

No spoilers but just a general comment (this is not secretive stuff) …seeing how many actors are reported to be leaving Corrie over the next month or two (there are names being added every day I ve just seen another saying he / she is moving on ) can it survive ?
We all moan about it but what a hole it would leave for so many of us.

lemsip Fri 17-Jan-25 08:22:15

there is something about the kit character that was in the news when he was first found by bernie. I dare not put it here incase im thought to be spoiling but it was on tv and media. thats all im saying

lemsip Fri 17-Jan-25 08:23:39

actors are not leaving, their contracts are not being renewed so are being pushed.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Jan-25 08:32:41

Maybe it’s both Lemsip I ve read the last two names that have appeared yesterday and today both wanted to move on to other things

Sarnia Fri 17-Jan-25 08:43:24

I may have dreamt this but there was something a while ago about a new family moving in who make Chesney & Co look like gentry. Being the type of family they are, they have something on Kit.

Aveline Fri 17-Jan-25 08:48:08

I quite often have sensationalist items on my news feeds re 'loved Corrie character moving on' and panic. I read on and it's only one or other going to do a play or going on holiday. Often feverish opinion posts on internet forums are posted as gospel truth but it's all just clickbait.
