Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

Aveline Dev is now well known to be leaving and returning to India to help his family. Will you be going with him and leaving your beloved cats behind? Food for thought. How would your DH cope?

Sarnia Wed 05-Feb-25 14:12:56

The amount of tears Lauren and Abi shed it should have put out the fire.

Aveline Wed 05-Feb-25 14:30:51

DH will be devastated but will understand. There are also lots of cats in India. I'm especially looking forward to seeing the very big stripy ones.🐅

Charleygirl5 Wed 05-Feb-25 14:36:57

Aveline Oh, I am so pleased to read that, as I was very worried about your DH. The problem with the cats in India is the way they have been treated, and you can't care for them all.

Sarnia

Fed up of the pair of them.

Abi’s face always looks so shiny nowadays.

Calendargirl Wed 05-Feb-25 15:46:52

Back to Abi again.

When Debbie said that Abi should get a grip and think of someone (Kevin) other than herself, and he should stop mollycoddling her, I thought ‘Well said Debbie’.

There was one laugh out loud (for me, anyway) moment in yesterday’s episode when the camera lingered on Sarah and Bethany, both obviously thinking. You could almost see the cogs turning slowly round the single brain cell they each have. How they’ve become the sought after journalist and high-powered businesswomen they’re supposed to be defies all logic. Though Sarah hasn’t so much as mentioned the factory for quite some time, despite the fact that Carla’s hooked up to her dialysis machine at home. It must run itself. Or perhaps Kirk’s in charge.

And yet again the Corrie residents shout and scream at each other in the ICU corridor, and nobody even tuts, let alone turfs them out.

I sometimes think the dafter it gets, the more I enjoy it. grin

Grannynannywanny Wed 05-Feb-25 21:49:58

They’ve all talked themselves round in circles over the fire raising. I can’t keep up with them and I can’t be bothered trying.

My laugh out loud moment was David asking the doctor when Max could come home. It took Shona to remind the plonker they don’t have a home.

Charleygirl5 Wed 05-Feb-25 23:32:03

I agree. Max was not out of his coma, so he would not be discharged any time soon. The scriptwriters do not think practically.

Aveline Thu 06-Feb-25 07:18:57

I think it's exactly the sort of daft thing David would say. The writers write for their characters.

Charleygirl5 Thu 06-Feb-25 09:59:22

Yes, I keep forgetting they share brains on Corrie.

Crossstitchfan Thu 06-Feb-25 19:01:56

I am hanging in there with Corrie only because I have watched it from the very beginning in 1960. The trouble is, that’s getting harder and harder to do because it’s so dire and the cast so awful.
I too, am sick of Lauren’s bits of hair and the way she cries all the time, and then does juicy sniffs. Yuk! She really can’t act, and her mouth gurning makes me want to slap her smug face. Several of the characters have strands of hair hanging down and it looks dreadful. Bethany also gets more unwatchable by the minute and is getting good at copying Lauren with the mouth gurning. Can’t stand her and can’t wait for her to leave.
How have so many characters become so cringy to watch? I feel sad about Corrie’s decline because it used to be SO good. Now, I watch it from loyalty, not from choice. If the scriptwriters don’t shape up, Corrie will be just a memory and that would be awful.

I hope there will be a pair of jeans with the knees out in the clothes donation box that will fit Shona.

She wears nothing else, and I particular noticed them when she was sitting in the waiting room at the hospital.

Agreed. And wondering when your son will come home is absolutely what most parents would do, isn’t it? However pointless it might seem to anyone on the outside.

What will happen to the Platt house? Are they going to rebuild it? Has Sally and Tim’s place survived unscathed? If so, how?

These are rhetorical questions, incidentally - not invitations to spoilers😀.

Aveline Fri 07-Feb-25 13:38:46

Demolish the house and build a huge block of flats? Lots of builder's business for the local shops, cafe and Rovers. The architects and surveyors would obviously stay at the Chariot Square hotel..

Nah - they'll be back in it next week just as if nothing happened at all grin grin grin

Aveline Fri 07-Feb-25 14:49:17

I agree nanaK54!

Charleygirl5 Fri 07-Feb-25 19:54:28

I agree. It will take 10 minutes for the police to determine who burned it down so the builders can start. I doubt planning permission will be needed.

Will an insurance company pick up the tab after a known arson? I doubt it, so maybe David will have to work for a week or two because he surely needs to pay the mortgage on the burned house and save money for another residence.

It is beyond my pea brain and I have not read any spoilers.

Grannynannywanny Fri 07-Feb-25 21:39:53

I’m sure it’ll all be sorted out as quickly as the massive sink hole in their back garden that swallowed half the street and was barely mentioned again 😆

I had completely forgotten that story - when Johnny drowned in the sewer. He's rarely if ever mentioned and yet he was Carla's father and Jenny's husband. It was never clear who paid for the hole to be filled - maybe insurance, but who cares - they all moved on very quickly, and were seemingly not traumatised in any way. They're tough oop North..

Calendargirl Mon 10-Feb-25 20:44:28

I said about 10 days ago I thought Max had a gormless look on his face, thinking about starting a fire for insurance.

I was right.

wink

vegansrock Tue 11-Feb-25 04:51:55

My money was on Max all along, but how long will it take Kit to work it out?
Meanwhile, Lisa is becoming another bent copper in the name of love.

BlueBelle Tue 11-Feb-25 07:10:25

Oh that awful police officer, that just could not happen The murderer would be handcuffed to the bed with two police officers and definitly not one woman
Carla s the most robust ‘kidney needed’ in the world and Swain wears those horrible sleeveless jumpers all the time I thought they went out years and year ago and she gets on my nerves.
So glad Bethany s gone, in the back of a car as usual, bye and don’t come back. didn’t like the character and never thought she was right for Daniel
Yes Shona clothes never change those jeans must be minging
So now we re
Stuart✔️
Gail✔️
Mason✔️
Bethany✔️
Who’s next Max? Daisy ? There’s supposed to be at least 12 going so 4 down whose next ?

LovesBach Tue 11-Feb-25 09:53:59

Not sure if this is correct but over past weeks have read that Daniel is leaving ( the actor unfortunately has a conditon that causes him to shake, and it is worsening) and also Daisy, Jenny, Max, and Yasmeen. A new 'nightmare family' will be moving into the street behind Coronation Street. There will be a few empty flats and houses - who will fill them? Audrey, Ken and Rita surely cannot want to continue for much longer, as two are in their nineties and one eighty plus.

LovesBach Tue 11-Feb-25 11:41:58

Craig too - there will be a lot of taxis trundling out of the street with waving hands in the back window..
