Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Rob was bleeding when lying on the floor, and must have cracked ribs at the very least from that fall - not to mention possible concussion. Will he die in that alleway? This has not been thought through, as if he is unconcious, his son Bobby won't be able to get anywhere near him, and in any event he will need help as he couldn't lift Rob alone. However, this is soapland and Bobby may manage it all alone.

Did the stuntman who did Rob's horrendous fall think he was at the circus? Being so high and tumbling backwards.

Tonight and then we have a rest to make way for the football. Are they not the lucky ones?

No, I hate it when Corrie is displaced for the football grin.

I hadn't realised the awful neighbour was Silver Van Man until I read it on here (😢), and I'm not surprised that Chesney wouldn't recognise him either.

The hospital storyline was ridiculous, as is the very dodgy police behaviour. Craigie is the only honest cop for miles, bless him. Everyone else seems to be striking deals with criminals and generally getting up to no good.

Kevin is doing his best to keep the cancer storyline real, but he's got Abi and Jack spiking his guns at every turn. Neither can act - Abi hams it up all the time and viewers are (well, I am) distracted by her surgery, and Jack is wooden as Pinocchio.

So true re Jack and Abi!

Why would Chesney recognise him though?

Did he ever see the silver van driver?

I don’t think he’s seen their van yet.

I thought that they would have used their van to move house. I thought Chesney would cotton on then but being Corrie they will wring every second out of this storyline.
Nice to see George telling him what he thought.

BlueBelle Wed 19-Feb-25 15:34:49

Oh poor Jack he couldn’t get worse could he out of all the young lads that must have auditioned how did they ever get to chose the poor lad he’s got no interest in his voice just reading lines And yes Abi is over doing it now
I do like Debbie though
Kevin looks very weak and thin and old for a 58 year old (in real life I think that’s what he is)

Grannynannywanny Wed 19-Feb-25 15:49:22

I’ve grown to really like Debbie. I hope she sticks around. Kevin always looks like he needs a good scrub and a change of clothes. He’s permanently scruffy even when he’s not working. The stubbly grey beard doesn’t help.

The evening Abbie made the attempt at a romantic dinner evening at home Kevin sat and ate wearing his scruffy outdoor fleece and layers under it. Maybe they’re saving on the gas bill.

Aveline Wed 19-Feb-25 16:07:36

Yes. Debbie is a real old fashioned, good going Coronation Street character!

Kim19 Wed 19-Feb-25 16:11:07

I'm not slumping on the heating bills and yet I find it absolutely necessary to wear many layers post surgery. Cold all the time. Something to do with circulation I'm told.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 19-Feb-25 17:23:45

Yes, I like Debbie. She's very tolerant of her sister in law, and happy to pay for therapy.
I'd not be putting any money Abi's way - if she can afford those fillers for her lips, she can buy her own therapist.

Aveline Wed 19-Feb-25 17:40:19

chocolatelovinggran 😂 Very good point. Meanwhile who's running the garage? That's a lot for poor Tyrone to manage.

vegansrock Wed 19-Feb-25 17:42:28

And who’s looking after Alfie?

Beechnut Wed 19-Feb-25 17:43:09

Ronnie has been looking after Alfie.

Calendargirl Wed 19-Feb-25 17:50:32

Ronnie has been looking after Alfie.

Giving him frozen lasagne.

Calendargirl Wed 19-Feb-25 17:53:37

Re the silver van.

I assumed the sofa or whatever else Chesney had to help them move had just been dumped on the pavement, ready to be carried in, and van moved away.

They are beyond awful, loud music, boozing away all hours of the day, common as muck.

The awful new neighbour said he had known it was Chesney all along, putting sugar in his fuel tank.

He’s just playing along with him, pretending to be matey.

And who’s looking after Alfie?

Beats me who’s looking after any of the children in the street, or the pets or the businesses come to that.

They all seem to be able to drop whatever they’re doing (or not doing) anyway at the drop of a hat and dash off to start yet another ruckus at the hospital, court or police station.

vegansrock Thu 20-Feb-25 06:01:05

The police - “ we’ve searched everywhere” - whilst Rob is peeping through a fence and Ryan sitting on a bench looking suspicious. And why hasn’t Robs phone run out of battery?

Calendargirl Thu 20-Feb-25 07:10:20

What is Rob eating? Is he rummaging through bins?

And how is he still trotting round after his transplant whilst Carla had an infection immediately? Is he not susceptible?

Anyway, Carla’s being discharged tomorrow, no doubt will be back behind her desk at the factory next week, all traces of her surgery forgotten.

BlueBelle Thu 20-Feb-25 07:33:31

Well Alfie’s been missing for days kev in hospital and Abi in counselling and wandering around in pieces no sign of Alfie never a cry or a change of nappy, never even a mention of where he is or who has him !!

That scene was comical. I wanted a group of passers by to call out pantomime style HE’S BEHIND YOU!

Rob must have a power bank 😂

Beechnut Thu 20-Feb-25 09:27:13

Where were the police dogs?

Crossstitchfan Thu 20-Feb-25 09:59:39

I have always loved Corrie since the start in 1960, but it’s getting REALLY ridiculous now! This has all been since the new writers came in the scene. Why haven’t they been sacked, given all the comments about how bad the storylines are?
And yes, I agree with the comments about Jack. He is a dreadful actor. But then, so many of them in Corrie are. Thinking of Lauren, Sean, Betsy, and many more. It’s like a club for failed actors! On the other hand, Debbie is brilliant. But guess what? She’s leaving! Without her, I wonder how it will all carry on.

Aveline Thu 20-Feb-25 13:04:06

The scenes in the hospital with Tim asking daft questions about Kevin's missing testicle were funny and unexpected!

Beechnut Thu 20-Feb-25 13:56:04

Good mates doing banter 😂
