Just started watching this on Channel 5. It's rather watchable but not very believable.

However I'm so involved with it we're on the third episode, the whole series is streaming on My 5.

In a word, absurd.
At least it's moving into a new phase now I know the connection.

If you take it seriously you'll be very disappointed. I wasn't going to watch after the first episode but decided to binge watch the other episodes and we had a good few belly laughs as the plot became ever more incredulous. It was so bad it was entertaining. No adverts either which made it much faster to get through.

OldFrill, please can you tell me how you managed to watch it on catch up with no adverts, as it was on Channel 5? Or do you mean you fast-forwarded through the adverts? I can never manage to do that!

We did the same. Just fast-forward through the ads. What a load of (entertaining) rubbish. We watched all of it!!

I watched it on the app and there were ads between episodes but none during the episodes. I didn't fast forward.

She is married to a doctor and her father was a doctor but no mention of a DNA test. I couldn't work out why the bike scene rang bells until ET was mentioned.

I’ve recorded it to watch but I don’t think I’ll bother now if it’s as bad as you all say.

Oh, do try it. I watched it all, despite being able to see all the faults!

I had sound muted and one eye on it while reading a news
item.
I could tell by the facial expressions of the mother character that it was a paint-by-numbers effort but that’s 5 for you.

Oh go on then, I’ll watch the first episode tomorrow. I may surprise myself and like it.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Mar-25 06:51:21

Episode 3 last night.

I too wondered about a DNA test (duh).

David Suchet (George) rallied round last night. He seemed to be a diabetic invalid on Monday night, but last night he was nipping about, driving, quaffing wine, plotting….

Always thought the husband looked shifty….

Will be keen to see tonight’s episode to see where it’s going with the pregnant schoolgirl- I try not to binge- the anticipation…….😳

Can someone clarify if the grandfather (with diabetes) is Zoe's father? I thought that he was her father in law, but I may be wrong.
Love the ET comparison on here! 😆

granfromafar Thu 13-Mar-25 07:49:52

Yes, escaped, he is Zoe's father. He is divorced from her mother, as far as I can make out!

Thank you.

You might! Let us know how you get on with it! 💐

all the au pairs I knew were all nutters, the ones that worked for me were, and others I knew that worked for other people, I had one who was diabetic, and she would deliberately eat a 5 pack of mars bars to put herself into a coma, when in the hospital with her they told me she does it every few months and explained to her that one day they will not be able to save her. others slept with my hubby, stole items, ruined items, honestly it was not worth the hassle, how could I hold down a job when the au pair is unreliable and cannot trust them with my kids

Calendargirl Thu 13-Mar-25 12:02:45

I wondered why David Suchet (George) lived with his daughter, son in law and daughter’s step children?

Does their house belong to him, and they moved in after daughter’s marriage?

Greenfinch Thu 13-Mar-25 12:17:35

I think he is supposed to be living next door!

Calendargirl Thu 13-Mar-25 12:21:13

Oh, ok.

confused

Mind you, the way the storyline is, it hardly matters!

OldFrill Thu 13-Mar-25 12:43:42

The big house belongs to Zoe's husband, Chris, it was his family home before his previous wife died. George appears to live in an annexe or property very close by. Zoe has lived in the house with Chris and his two children for three years.
It's full of contradictions and loopholes, but just take it as light entertainment, we found it very amusing.

Dottydots Thu 13-Mar-25 13:43:38

I'm not daft, I would make sure I employed an ugly au pair!

Calendargirl Thu 13-Mar-25 15:42:32

Well, the ‘real’ au pair was intercepted by the baddie one on her way to start in the job, wasn’t she, and was told she was no longer required?

She looked a bit plain and timid.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 13-Mar-25 17:41:19

I wish I could be as calm & as easily pleased as you warmglovesandsocks!
If something's a bit rubbish on the TV, I get a bit ratty, mopey and worse of all very whiny!!!😊

merlotgran Thu 13-Mar-25 21:46:18

It was so bad it was good! 😂

Millie22 Thu 13-Mar-25 22:08:45

Well what a load of twaddle and totally bonkers.

Nice house though.

And yes, gorgeous house
