Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

Seemingly, Brian was informed that Julie’s body was in the chapel of rest but there has since been an autopsy where they discovered Eileen’s pain medication in Julie’s system…………surely her body should have been taken to a hospital mortuary, coroner informed at which stage they would decide on a PM being done based on PMH and cause of death.
I know it TV but………

They don't seem to do any research into their story lines. Paul's MND journey was the most believable recently but we have Evelyn applying and getting accepted at university in the blink of an eye, James planning to take the baby to the US without the months of paperwork it would normally take, Kit discussing cases in the pub, to name just a few. I know it's TV but let's have some reality.

Round her, it can take a while before post mortems, as there is the usual delay on most things.

Calendargirl Wed 07-May-25 20:44:54

Does Lauren ever look after Frankie, or is she always out and about, planning on meeting up with mates?

Does Dee Dee need to do her case work in Roy’s Rolls, surely she can WFH if not in whatever office she works from? (Where is Adam, by the way?)

Sarah looks very dolled up in her skimpy top, but very attractive. No wonder Kit is smitten.

Calendargirl Wed 07-May-25 20:59:56

Looks like Julie’s bed won’t be empty for long.

Theo will be in there, alongside Todd probably.

I had a relative who died from suicide. It was over three weeks later when the coroner released her body.
But, this is soap land.

I found Corrie very silly last night the embalming scenes were ridiculous almost slapstick and the blackmailing storyline fizzled into nothing
A child could write better storylines
No wonder there are more actors leaving … don’t worry Doddlebug my mouth is sealed I actually think, with disappointment, that Corrie is dying

Aveline Sat 10-May-25 07:02:19

I'm sick of reading such negative posts about Corrie. If it's 'dying' it's been dying for the past 50 years. It's always been a mixture of stories and characters - some dafter than others.

Calendargirl Sat 10-May-25 07:07:34

Yes BlueBelle, the embalming lapsed into a near pantomime.

When Todd blurted out that Julie had already been ‘done’, George should have stepped in and said no, it was scheduled but not yet carried out.

As for the builder’s yard. Gary only decided to buy it about a week ago, yet now it’s up and running, a couple of new employees taken on, and Mick, (qualified electrician) is suddenly a builder’s foreman, more or less in charge.

And of course, mardy Lauren, no sign of the devoted mum looking after little Frankie, just mooching about with awful Betsy and Bobby, wanting to rent a flat she has no idea how she can afford….

I’m with Tracey, no idea who would be keen to invest in the Rovers, with the few customers they seem to get.

But hey ho, Reet is looking to reduce her hours at the Kabin, leaving a job ready for Jenny.

If only Lauren had known.….

And don’t get me started on Theo and his silly daughter. Step away Todd, nothing but trouble.

But not as daft as nearly all the current ones, sadly.

Aveline Sat 10-May-25 08:55:04

Just think of Reg Holdsworth, Phyllis Pearce, Blanche Hunt etc. Also what about Fred and Curly and the 'Square Dealers'? Daft characters and situations galore.

Calendargirl Sat 10-May-25 09:45:11

I couldn’t stand Phyllis Pearce or that old chap with the glasses and cap, Percy Sugden.

Yes, there has been done silly storylines in the past, but interspersed with some humdingers.

Too many silly ones now.

Mason’s death was a cracker though.

Aveline Sat 10-May-25 10:00:25

The motor neurone story was well done. The school bullying of Liam and all that implied was v relevant. Also cosmetic ops going wrong also worth mentioning. Now they seem to be looking at assisted dying.
Horrible Pat Phelan kept us on our toes for a while as did ghastly Joel.
Who will get the Rovers? Who will buy the vacant house? What will happen to Eileen? I'll still be watching.

Lovetopaint037 Sat 10-May-25 10:16:04

I am sure I must have missed something but can you tell me where Lauren got that £500 to catch her blackmailer? I thought it was a wad of newspaper but later she is anticipating using it for a down payment on some flat she wants to rent.

Calendargirl Sat 10-May-25 10:38:11

Bobby gave her it to pay off the blackmailer.

Where he got £500 is another matter….?

🤷‍♀️

Agreed, Aveline. There are lots of other channels, so if I didn't enjoy Corrie and had nothing else to do I could easily find something else to watch.

I do think that 3 hours a week is a lot to fill, though, and the way the contracts are working doesn't help them to have as many stories running at once. When they do an 'issue' story (such as the ones you mention) they do it very well, though. I was a bit worried last night that Mick was going to bully Liam, and relieved when it was a classic 'apprentice initiation' thing.

I don't know where Lauren got the £500, Lovetopaint. I switch off a bit when she's on - where is she living now?

Aveline Sat 10-May-25 10:57:18

Still with the foster carer. The money came from Bobby

Charleygirl5 Sat 10-May-25 11:03:56

Lauren appears well-dressed, and she is rarely seen wearing the same outfit twice. Where does she find the money? Is Frankie out of the hospital? If so, how can she babysit and work, that is, if anybody employs her?

Doodledog Sat 10-May-25 11:56:25

Aveline

Ah yes. Thanks.

Charleygirl5 Sat 10-May-25 16:11:06

For someone so young, Lauren is such a misery. I have no idea if she is staying or going. I would happily pay for a single ticket to the town of her choice.

Calendargirl Sun 11-May-25 08:08:33

I suppose she’s had a hard life, Lauren, not much to be happy about.

It’s the hanks of hair, the sniffing, the mardy face as she scrolls through her phone, ….

I, too, sincerely hope she is another one destined to be moved on.

Perhaps she could get a job near to where Max is imprisoned….

Calendargirl Sun 11-May-25 08:10:08

My eyes are drawn to the dangling hoops she wears in her ears (Lauren).

I have visions of Frankie tugging them, resulting in a bloodbath and torn ear lobes,

Clawdy Sun 11-May-25 08:44:17

So Lauren will pretend to Bobby that she's paid off the blackmailer......why doesn't she tell him the truth but ask if she can borrow the money for the flat?

No one on Corrie has heard that:

‘Honesty is the best policy’.

LovesBach Sun 11-May-25 09:23:13

Given the life that Lauren has lived, and the abuse, stress and fear she has endured, I wonder she is still alive. Like Simon Barlow, who endured such traumas and losses throughout, thanks to the need for sensational story lines, both would have probably jumped off a cliff in real life.
