Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

If you think about it, there are very few likeable women in Corrie at the moment, and the better ones are still irritating. There have been some very dislikable ones, Betsy, Swain, Lou, Deedee, Lauren, to name a few of them.
I wonder how many viewers, like me, are watching mainly because they watched it from the 1960 start and not necessarily because they like it?

Charleygirl5 Sat 12-Jul-25 23:10:36

My parents would not allow me to watch it. I started in 1988 when my OH left.

I would almost add the entire lot of females except Rita and Audrey and what's her name at college/university. But I would imagine they are fading into retirement, rarely appearing nowadays.

I wonder whether the storylines have been put on hold for the football/tennis? It's bad enough that they intrude on the schedules, but if it is the case that we get 'holding' episodes so that people don't lose what passes for the plot when weeks go by with different timings I will start a revolution.

It’s obviously Gary’s turn to occupy the most famous hospital bed in the soap world. 🛏️

I have read who is due to be occupying it in the near future, but my lips are 🤐

DeeDee will end up keeping the child, the story, in my opinion, is heading that way.

Where do prisoners charge up their illegal phones?

I hope that Lou stays in the nick because I cannot stand her.

I hope she stays there too - not only is she loud, aggressive, lying, bullying, neglectful of her 'kids', but oh, that mouth. Where does she get the oil slick lip gloss? The actress is doing a fine job, because Lou is quite detestable - as is Mick.

'Theo' was on Lorraine the other day. What a handsome, funny chap he is in real life.

'Theo' was on Lorraine the other day. What a handsome, funny chap he is in real life.

It’s funny how we’re all so different. I don’t think Theo is at all handsome. He is too ‘chiselled’, and when he smiles, he is creepy. (‘The Shining’ anyone??)
As for Lou, she must be a great actor because her character is awful. I’m so glad she’s leaving. Mick’s leaving too, I believe. I loathed him from the start! They deserve each other!
I don’t think Corrie will ever get back to how it used to be, but I suppose there’s only so much that can be done with a show that’s 65 years old. I’ve watched it from the start and will miss it if/when it’s binned.

Kate1949 Sun 13-Jul-25 11:18:21

I agree Crosstitchfan. I have never thought of him as handsome but he was so different as himself. His hair is wavy and tousled and he never stopped laughing and smiling.

Crossstitchfan Sun 13-Jul-25 11:31:15

I wish I’d seen him, but I don’t watch Lorraine. I suppose I should have realised he’d be different in real life. He is acting a specific part on Corrie so it stands to reason he’d be different in real life.

Bukkie Sun 13-Jul-25 20:47:20

It's a shame Mick and Lou are such dreadful characters because they are both great at acting unlike many of the current cast.

Charleygirl5 Sun 13-Jul-25 22:18:37

I saw a little of Teo in real life, and he was handsome, pleasant, relaxed, and so different from what I expected. I hate him as Theo, but he was lovely when speaking with Lorraine.

That hospital bed is rarely empty. I did not know it would be occupied so soon.

Calendargirl Mon 14-Jul-25 20:28:42

Another prison break out.🥱

Looks like there is a new Lily?

Calendargirl Mon 14-Jul-25 20:58:35

Hope Gary’s left that bed, as Kit will be needing it now.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Jul-25 21:43:16

Gary will have had a miraculous recovery if he has moved because he was full of drips and drains when we last saw him.

Is it my hearing that is on the decline, or was I having major problems understanding what anybody said tonight, mainly because they speak so quickly?

Devorgilla Mon 14-Jul-25 22:23:34

At least there was plenty of action tonight. The hospital bed may be always available but police reaction time pretty dismal.

nanaK54 Mon 14-Jul-25 22:33:21

I thought Sally was excellent tonight.

Crossstitchfan Mon 14-Jul-25 22:37:03

I was sorry to see the dreaded Hope back tonight. I really thought (hoped) we’d seen the last of her. Is it going to be part of the story that she has put on so much weight? Can’t take to her, I’m afraid.

Crossstitchfan Mon 14-Jul-25 22:39:12

nanaK54

I thought Sally was excellent tonight.

She was. I have seen bits of her talent popping up previously, but she was never given the lines to carry it through. Maybe this time, she will be. Hope so as she is a good actor.

Who goes to a pub quiz at lunchtime?

Calendargirl Tue 15-Jul-25 06:31:38

Who goes to a pub quiz at lunchtime?

Plus if I were Maria, fretting about Gary, the last thing I would want is to be stuck in the Rovers at lunchtime, doing a mindless pub quiz with the factory crowd, including gormless Kirky.

Calendargirl Tue 15-Jul-25 06:36:05

Hope Health and Safety take a bit of interest with the factory.

Surely a young person (Joanie) shouldn’t have been there, for whatever reason, and it also looked like certain emergency exits were not able to be opened.

And Mick escaping in a laundry van.

Hope all those in jail are watching and learning.

BlueBelle Tue 15-Jul-25 07:18:44

Well the laundry van thing happened in real life very recently didn’t it Calandergirl a guy left prison hiding in the laundry van but got recaptured So Corrie have copied it
Surely not another copper dying in a month !!!!
Yes Sally did well she’s an accomplished actress but not always given good story lines

vegansrock Tue 15-Jul-25 07:49:18

Well health and safety is always ignored at t’factree -machinist drinking and eating all over the machines, anyone walking in off the street. Plus what about school security- no-one can just wander in and walk around these days.

Calendargirl Tue 15-Jul-25 07:58:14

I thought the escape in a laundry van was a chap hanging onto the underside of it as it drove away, or was that a different real life escape?

I was expecting Mick to be seen, clinging on for dear life, or hopefully tumbling off into the path of a double decker bus.

Flashback to Rita and Alan and the Blackpool tram.

When Corrie really was Corrie.

Clawdy Tue 15-Jul-25 08:37:59

Yes, Mick wandering into a school and roaming the corridors was ridiculous! And then right into the factory!
