Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

Claudy- I am a teacher and struggle to get into my place of work on the rare occasion I have forgotten my fob so Mick wandering in was ridiculous. Since the heartbreaking Dunblane shootings, schools have become very secure and rightly so. It's the same on Neighbours, people wander in and out of Erinsborough High like it's a supermarket. And the penthouse too appears to literally have a lift into the it without another door. Back to Corrie, Sally was great, her snobbery is always superb but she showed a different side last night. Her and Tim make a great double act.

Aveline Tue 15-Jul-25 08:56:13

It was a good exciting episode though.

sodapop Tue 15-Jul-25 09:07:32

I agree, a good episode last night in the main. Sally was excellent and showd a much better side to her character.

'Theo' was on Lorraine the other day. What a handsome, funny chap he is in real life.

It’s funny how we’re all so different. I don’t think Theo is at all handsome. He is too ‘chiselled’, and when he smiles, he is creepy. (‘The Shining’ anyone??)
As for Lou, she must be a great actor because her character is awful. I’m so glad she’s leaving. Mick’s leaving too, I believe. I loathed him from the start! They deserve each other!
I don’t think Corrie will ever get back to how it used to be, but I suppose there’s only so much that can be done with a show that’s 65 years old. I’ve watched it from the start and will miss it if/when it’s binned.

Why is Lou an 'actor'? She's female so surely an actress. Still we must keep the woke brigade happy!

Having regular trips to school to collect various grandchildren, I was taken aback by the way Mick just breezed in to find his daughter. Don't the scriptwriters think about their storylines?

Charleygirl5 Tue 15-Jul-25 10:49:17

I agree. The actress in the wheelchair, whose name escapes me, was going to show Joanie how to set up a machine and if that had happened, she would have been sitting with the rest of them happily working.

The script writers should take heed of standard rules as well as be unable to wander along school corridors.

Aveline Tue 15-Jul-25 10:49:44

Mick is amazingly threatening though! Sally did very well to stand up to him. He's already murdered one policeman, possibly two so he had nothing to lose!

Grannynannywanny Tue 15-Jul-25 11:31:41

I hadn’t read any spoilers (if there were any) and was surprised when Mick pulled the knife from his pocket and stabbed Kit. When they were fighting and struggling with each other I was expecting one or both of them to fall through the railings.

Charleygirl5 Tue 15-Jul-25 12:01:11

I agree, I also expected the railings to be involved. Where did Mick pick up that knife when he had been in prison? I hope Kit recovers.

Bukkie Tue 15-Jul-25 13:27:51

Totally agree, men are actors and women actresses. But as said earlier we have to kerp the wokey lefties happy.

Would the female scriptwriter agree do you think, or a female director or producer. Or shall we start referring to "Doctoress Gaddas"?

Doodledog Tue 15-Jul-25 14:24:07

I suspect goading, Ilovecheese grin. Over the past few pages there have been a few mentions of the actor/actress thing, and when nobody 'bit' the ante was upped to 'the woke brigade' and then 'the wokey lefties'.

As far as I'm concerned, if people are determined to sound out of touch, and maybe even proud of it, let them.

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 15-Jul-25 15:06:56

My neighbour's sister in law refers to herself as an actor.
Perhaps she's a wokey leftie.

Doodledog Tue 15-Jul-25 15:09:15

Not a woke leftyess?

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 15-Jul-25 15:30:45

Of course, Doodledog!

Ilovecheese Tue 15-Jul-25 15:58:46

That is probably the best way Doodledog

Being woke is nothing to be proud of. It just means you believe any old claptrap because it makes you feel superior.

I’m surprised that, given you are a teacher, you said ‘her and Tim’ and not ‘she and Tim’!

Who has said they are proud of being 'woke'? People rarely use the term about themselves - it's one of those things that is usually reserved as an insult about others.

Also, it's not clear who you are referring to in your post, but how do you know her motives for believing any old claptrap?

Bukkie Wed 16-Jul-25 17:22:54

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. Anne Boleyn was white, only biological woman have babies, there are only two sexes, females are actresses, JK Rowling talks common sense. These are many of the silly things that have come up in recent discussions. Anyone who argues with these facts because they think it makes them appear superior, I considered woke.

Doodledog Wed 16-Jul-25 18:13:15

I don't think anyone argued that AB was black - just that it won't matter to her story if she is played by a black actor/actress. If you can find a post that suggests she was black I'll take that back, as I won't have read all of them, but I doubt you'll be able to.

You've changed your logic in your last sentence. Previously you said that people believed things you consider 'silly' or 'claptrap' because it made them feel superior, and now you are saying that those who argue with what you consider 'facts' because it makes them appear superior are 'woke'.

The second version is more convoluted, but you still haven't explained how you know other people's motives, whether for believing things or arguing with them. Isn't it remotely possible that they just disagree with you?

Bukkie Wed 16-Jul-25 20:10:24

Nobody, myself included said Anne Boleyn was black. I said it was madness that a black actress was playing her in a drama. There would be uproar if a white actress played my favourite singer Whitney Houston in a drama.

Aveline Wed 16-Jul-25 20:11:26

Wrong thread??

Doodledog Wed 16-Jul-25 20:41:34

Yes, Aveline.

The new Lily is very different from the old one, isn't she? Smaller, different colouring, different voice. They usually try to make it a bit less obvious when they change the actors over.

I felt sorry for Brodie earlier. That must be hard to hear from the man he thought was his father until very recently.

Bukkie Wed 16-Jul-25 21:07:49

The brilliant Maureen Lipman who plays Evelyn recently said she hated the fact that females were being called actors and that she always insists on the correct term of actress for herself. This is how the topic became up for discussion on here.

BlueBelle Wed 16-Jul-25 21:31:44

Lily was a very big lass when she went off to play in some magnificent football team in London now she’s a very slight child Really really silly to not follow through with a similar child
Has Gary lost weight ? sounds petty I know but I d love Liam to go to a good barber
