Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

He's had a hard life obviously!!

Calendargirl

I thought Jack had a permanent blank look!

😂

Well, Calendargirl, I’d say that was harsh but fair, as they used to say about Karen Brady on The Apprentice! grin

I read that Sue Devaney who plays Debbie Webster is upset about her storyline. I hope it doesn't mean she is being written out as I find her one of the better actresses on Corrie. I can think of others I would rather lose if this proves to be the case.
I liked her when she played Jane in Dinnerladies too.

Crossstitchfan Sat 12-Apr-25 20:03:13

I agree. If Sue gets written out, I’m outta here! She is pretty much the only decent actress left in Corrie. Sorry, I nearly forgot Jennie McAlpine who does a brilliant job of playing an ordinary, stressed mum.
Abi is a pain, as is Toyah and don’t get me started on Leanne, who I think is probably one of the most irritating actresses I have seen. She can occasionallybe quite good but then she puts on that silly voice when she’s trying to get her own way with Danny, and I could strangle her! If that’s acting, forget it! What is she - 3 years old? Then there’s that wretched Cassie. What a waste of space. She wasn’t brilliant in Brookside, but she was better than she is now. Then there’s Dee-dee, who is as wooden as can be. Dreadful acting.
I think Corrie needs new scriptwriters, definitely someone to replace Kate Brooks, who is rubbish at her job, and also a few different cast members as most of them, as I said above, can’t act. There are many others, but I won’t bore people, especially as they will know who I mean! I just can’t get to grips with the number of boring lifeless actors in Corrie, or the crap scripts. Where has the old Corrie gone? Where-ever, it will never return with this shower in the driving seat.

Aveline Sat 12-Apr-25 20:27:23

I don't think the acting is boring or that the actors can't act. They are just playing the parts of ordinary people. What do you expect? Shakespearian overacting?
There are several storylines running and the writers are doing a good job keeping all those pots boiling.

Doodledog Sat 12-Apr-25 22:41:20

Crosstitchfan are you mixing up Classic Corrie and the current version? Leanne and Danny was 20 odd years ago grin

vegansrock Tue 15-Apr-25 04:53:54

Sarah and Kit…who’d have thought it? It won’t end well. Kevin looks old enough to be Carl’s dad. Wish they’d cut out the young offenders storyline - it’s too ridiculous never mind boring

BlueBelle Tue 15-Apr-25 05:23:12

I m not at all sure how you can say Dee Dee is woodeni crosstitchfan I think she acts pretty well compared to many on Corrie the rest of her family not so much

They are making huge mistakes getting rid of Debbie Webster who is a great actress whilst bringing in awful new characters like the couple soon no more thankfully the new builder who doesn’t know if he’s Arthur or Martha and now poor old shrinking Kevin’s long lost brother no one had ever heard of

Calendargirl Tue 15-Apr-25 06:48:13

The Brody/Dylan storyline is just Mason/Dylan/Liam all over again.

Sooo boring. Sean needs to toughen up and not answer his phone.

As for Sarah and Kit…. do they have jobs to go to or can they just pop into bed anytime of the day?

And where are David, Shona, Lily? Are they still at Sarah’s or have they moved on? Did they go to Audrey’s?

vegansrock Tue 15-Apr-25 10:54:25

Why doesn’t Sean block Brody’s number?

Maggiemaybe Tue 15-Apr-25 16:02:28

Why does nobody ever just tell the truth on Corrie? Everything has to be such a big secret. Right now we have Sean weaving himself into a web of lies because he just caved in to Brody instead of reporting the threats. Debbie ripe for being blackmailed - I thought she was gathering the family together to tell them that she was being checked out for dementia, but no. I also have no idea why Abby didn’t just come clean about Kevin’s brother being the carpark man when he turned up - yes, there’d been a bit of flirting on his side, but nothing drastic. Surely they’d just have laughed at the coincidence? She’s lined herself up to be blackmailed now as well. As for Jenny, Daisy and Daisy’s mum, I’ve completely lost track of who owns the pub, who wants to do down who and who has any access or rights to any legacy/trust fund/loan, but again it’s all deceit and subterfuge. Seems to me the only person in Weatherfield who’s to be trusted is Roy.

Daisy sobered up quickly, didn’t she?

Are the new couple leaving? That's another surprise ruined.

Is Kev's brother really related to the Websters, or is he an imposter? Speculation only, please - if anyone knows for sure, please don't spoil it for the rest of us?

I have no idea (thankfully) how I would react in Sean's shoes. Prisons are such awful places, and I'd want to keep Dylan safe, but the non-criminal me would want to tell the authorities and get Brody dealt with as he deserves. We'd probably all be dead within an episode, though.

🫢 Yes, you’re right! I am! I’m making the mistake of watching both at once! I love Corrie and watch as many episodes as they throw at me!
I don’t think my brain is coping with both timelines, but what the heck. It’s not exactly Shakespeare and it floats happily through and out of my brain!
Thanks again for pointing it out. I really need to make some notes and try to get up to speed!

Calendargirl Wed 16-Apr-25 06:47:35

I think Carl really is Kev’s brother Doodledog, but the back story is confusing.

Do they all share the same mother, or does Carl have a different mum to Kev and Debbie? Their mother died of cancer, and when Bill Webster, the dad, was in years ago, he seemed to be on his own.

Did he have Carl with another woman when he moved to Germany, which is why no one, the family or us viewers, know much about him?

There was a mention a few episodes ago that Kevin and his brother have the same Dad but different Mums. I think that's what was said. As another GN said it's easy to lose track of all the storylines. It's like a cat's cradle.

Clawdy Wed 16-Apr-25 08:29:16

He can't be an imposter, both Kevin and Debbie gasped in surprise and beamed at him delightedly as soon as he walked in.

vegansrock Wed 16-Apr-25 08:53:44

For someone who has been brought up in Germany he has a Mancunian accent and can’t speak German properly. A bit like Bethany living in Italy for years but couldn’t speak Italian.

Doodledog Wed 16-Apr-25 13:32:56

Deviation, but Vicky in Eastenders spent her formative years in the US and has moved to Australia but now speaks with a pronounced Landan accen', for some reason, too grin.

Carl is definitely a wrong 'un, but so was Debbie before she went through the Cobbles Rehabilitation of Baddies course from which everyone from the Battersbys to Mason have graduated.

Aveline Wed 16-Apr-25 14:37:45

Oh no. Do we need an EastEnders thread too? I feel so emotionally overextended by these soaps dramas. So many people to get involved with, so many storylines to get fed up with, actors dislike etc etc

Doodledog Wed 16-Apr-25 16:21:25

No, it was just that the talk of people not picking up the accents where they live, yet talking like those where they lived as children reminded me of EE.

Aveline Wed 16-Apr-25 21:10:11

Am really irritated with DeeDee and her silly little girl voice.
Meanwhile, poor Sean.

Doodledog Wed 16-Apr-25 21:31:59

Yes, he's in an impossible situation. I really don't know what I would do in the circumstances.

sodapop Wed 16-Apr-25 21:33:24

I agree about DeeDee Aveline she is beginning to grate on me too. I understand she has had a series of traumas in her life but where has that strong capable woman gone.

Calendargirl Thu 17-Apr-25 06:46:49

Yes, Dee Dee is becoming a whining, self centred individual.

She has no idea who is looking after her baby, perhaps she should be helping with that instead of being back at the hospital.

Wes seems nice, do you think he and Dee Dee might hit it off eventually?

As for horrible Lou, I’m still wondering whoever needed those expensive nappies when she first appeared, as ‘Joanie’ is obviously old enough to help out with Gemma’s brood.

As if Audrey would give her a job!

Bukkie Thu 17-Apr-25 11:51:13

The Dee Dee situation is not because of her colour. I was treated equally badly over 20 years ago twice. I went into labour both times at 35 weeks and was laughed at by nurses sitting at the nurses station telling me it was Braxton Hicks. Despite having contractions every 6 minutes and my waters having broken with my first I was sent home and called a neurotic first time mother. I had to have an emergency caesarean 30 hours later. Second time I lost 4 pints of blood and I am lucky both myself and son survived. I am really angry with Corrie turning it into a race issue.
