Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

Aveline Thu 17-Apr-25 13:22:11

It might not. It was obvious that the whole maternity ward and labour suite was under great pressure. Given all that's coming out about various maternity units it's clear that lots of mums are having terrible times. I hope Corrie moves the focus from the race issue to the more general problems around childbirth in hospital.

I was trying to place the actress who plays Daisy's mother, Christina. Then I came across an episode of the Royal and there she was, Dr. Weatherill, played by Amy Robbins. She has a very good acting range.

Charleygirl5 Thu 17-Apr-25 23:31:46

Sean is foo;idh because if he pays £500 today, Brody will want double that amount within a week.

Where are illegal phones charged up in a prison?

I did not think inmates had access to a phone so frequently.

Why on earth would anyone think it was a good idea inviting poor Kevin, feeling nauseous from his chemo, to a tasting buffet for a wedding menu?

Lots of spicy, creamy, rich food, even in small amounts, would hardly be making him feel better.

Calendargirl Fri 18-Apr-25 20:30:46

Have I missed a couple of episodes?

Last I heard, Audrey was giving awful Lou a trial at the hairdressers, suddenly tonight she seems established there, really popular with the customers and has brought many new clients in.

Really?

🤷‍♀️

Aveline Fri 18-Apr-25 20:35:32

I thought that too Calendargirl. Couldn't think how I missed an episode.

Every newcomer to Coronation Street gets a job.Always in the street as well. Coronation Street is a completely different planet to what the rest of us are living on

vegansrock Sat 19-Apr-25 05:55:46

Well the job didn’t last long did it? Plus the horrible Mick and the unseen girls.why doesn’t Gemma tell Kit? Only bit of light relief- Theo in his undies.

Calendargirl Sat 19-Apr-25 06:54:21

The whole Todd/Theo storyline is ridiculous.

Theo obviously has no intention of ‘coming out’ to his wife and family, so apart from the sex, Todd has no future with him. As for all this taking place in Sarah’s flat, it’s in poor taste. What if she had turned up with Harry in tow, what would he make of it all?

Seeing as he is very rarely with his mother, in between her dates and hopping into bed with anyone herself, I don’t suppose it’s an issue.

Am also fed up with Dee Dee, bemoaning she will never be able to have another child but shows absolutely no concern for the one she’s got. And the race issue is going to drag on for ages, along with the interminable visits to the Young Offenders Unit and the ghastly new family and gormless Gemma. Why doesn’t she just drop the ‘friendship’ and keep her door locked to prevent them waltzing in with cans of beer all the time?

Hopeless storylines.

BlueBelle Sat 19-Apr-25 08:16:55

Harry wouldn’t walk in on them he’s locked up in his bedroom with Daniel’s child and DeeDee s baby
It s just getting too stupid I missed half last night with an incoming phone call but can’t be bothered to go back over it I really can’t

Charleygirl5 Sat 19-Apr-25 09:20:13

You missed little.

I am sick to death of Brody and his ghastly parents. I hope Brody gets a transfer asap and so far away he will be forgotten about.

Audrey was so wishy-washy, saying Lou should be given another chance. She is probably as much of a stylist as I am.

How could she afford to buy so many takeaways after losing her job?

Nobody appears to have tea and toast at home. The minimum wage there must be different from the rest of the country.

Aveline Sat 19-Apr-25 09:48:58

Also where are David and Shona and family staying? I thought they were at Sarah's too.

Aveline Sat 19-Apr-25 09:50:13

Some characters seem to worm their way into my heart. Sean for example. I really find myself caring about him. A good character, well acted and scripted.

Calendargirl Sat 19-Apr-25 10:01:23

Theo’s acting is poor, he looks pretty wooden, as does his wife.

So does Eileen, it’s her mouth that looks odd somehow.

I started to feel sorry for Kit last night. 😥

I do think Sarah’s acting is good with her romances, she really looks keen on anyone she gets off with, Adam, Damon, Kit….

I’ve often wondered if there really is a ‘spark’ with her and her (numerous) conquests in real life.

Are David and co in France, seeing Gail, who needs keeping in the loop with all the goings on in the Street surely?

Aveline Sat 19-Apr-25 10:15:02

Kit really looks like he fancies Sarah. He smiles into her eyes and his whole facial expression seems to melt.

Charleygirl5 Sat 19-Apr-25 10:15:38

With all of the bed hopping by both sexes, does anybody give a thought to STDS, or should I retire to my shell?

Calendargirl Sat 19-Apr-25 11:17:47

Well, she is very pretty.

And Kit’s smile- ❤️

I don't know where Shona is, but I have it on good authority that David has taken up temporary lodgings in the Big Brother House grin

vegansrock Sat 19-Apr-25 14:09:01

Sarah’s is becoming the street hook up spot. Why can’t she go to Kits for her afternoon rumpy pumpy? Actually I’m warming to Kit even though he seems to be working his way through the available females - and even some who aren’t available.

Calendargirl Sat 19-Apr-25 18:01:18

Where does Kit live now?

It used to be the Rovers, then he had his own place/ flat which at one stage needed ‘fumigating’ for some reason.

Perhaps that’s why he can’t take Sarah there?

confused

Calendargirl Tue 22-Apr-25 07:22:16

Another strange episode last night.

Why oh why do the scriptwriters want to drag poorly and dying people out for meals all the time? Both Kevin and Julie are obviously not feeling like eating, but “I know, let’s have them going out for breakfast, brunch, wedding tasting menus….”

And a minibus jaunt to the Lakes will be a trial for Julie, I suspect.

Wooden Theo and randy Todd are a bit of a joke really, alongside the crazy wife.

As for Jenny, Daisy and Daisy’s mother…..plus the new ‘love’ interest.

It doesn’t improve, sadly.

Aveline Tue 22-Apr-25 07:37:28

Calendargirl - but it will improve. Sooner or later there'll be another excellent episode that we all comment on positively.
Meanwhile, poor Gemma. What a horrible dilemma for her. Looks like Dylan might be turning into a mini hard man. Might get some respect from fellow inmates. Nice that he sprang to his Dad's defence when being taunted about him.

Doodledog Tue 22-Apr-25 07:46:58

I’m think that when they do ‘social issues’ they often get it right. Paul’s MND is a case in point. The Deedee story is starting to take shape, and the way prisons and YOIs can be training grounds for criminality is worth exploring. The trouble is that when they have too many such stories at once it can feel like a Sociology GCSE, and the non-issue ones are often dreadful.

I think one ‘issue’ at a time with a break between them is enough - they should concentrate on domestic drama - but if they have teams of writers working separately, and three hours a week to fill I can’t see it going back to the winning formula. It’s such a shame.

Clawdy Tue 22-Apr-25 08:14:59

Why on earth didn't Gemma threaten Mick with telling Kit? "You do know my brother's a policeman? Come near my kids and you're finished."

Doodledog Tue 22-Apr-25 08:20:37

Or get up a posse of Rovers regulars and sort him out in the traditional manner?

I think there are places where ‘hard men’ do hold sway though, and it can be difficult to stand up to them for fear of reprisals. I prefer soaps to use that sparingly though. There are too many gangsters and criminals these days.
