Time for the next thread.

We just laugh when Theo comes on and his hairstyle is just awful. Is it a wig? He can’t act anyway.

He never actually does any work and wears his pristine workwear and spotless boots. I think he is going to have one big anger attack and Todd will leave him.

Crossstitchfan Tue 26-Aug-25 22:14:44

I hope you’re right Primrose as I can’t stand him either! I agree about his hair. I don’t think it’s a wig, I think he just has a crap barber. I’m assuming he looks the same when he’s off set. God, some of the Corrie actors aren’t very pretty, are they?

Grannynannywanny Tue 26-Aug-25 23:22:45

Poor Asha is an emotional wreck. I hope she doesn’t give up on her paramedic career. Hopefully Lisa is going to provide the support she needs.

I was a little concerned when Lisa accompanied her home that Asha was going to make a drunken pass at her.

Asha is a great little actress isn’t she?

I thought the same as you about Lisa taking her home. 😉

So did I. I think they both dodged a bullet there grin

Asha's scenes were well acted, and yes, it's good to highlight the disgraceful way emergency service personnel can be treated, but the flashbacks and 'bitty' way the episode played out was awful, IMO. Far better to see the incidents as they supposedly happened. The impression I got was that the writers were told to find a way to move the plot along in X direction now that Aadi has left, and they came up with this as a way to show how Asha's MH has deteriorated.

If Brodie is staying I'd like to see him stay a baddie for longer than usual. I know I keep saying it, but Coronation Street is not the road to Damascus, yet so many characters go from criminal to saint in an unfeasibly short space of time. I'd like to see more made of Dylan's character. Theo can fall off the scaffolding for all I care, and I only tolerate Dev because I know Aveline would miss him if he left.

Calendargirl Fri 29-Aug-25 20:46:16

Can it get any sillier?

Jenny barging into the undertaker’s and breaking into a coffin!

Carl suddenly leaping into bed with James of all people!

Let’s just have everybody becoming gay/bisexual, why not?

BlueBelle Fri 29-Aug-25 20:47:36

Why is PapaSmurf looking like a mahogany sideboard

Beechnut Fri 29-Aug-25 21:01:47

That surprised me! There was me thinking Carl had Fiona in his hotel room.

Doodledog Fri 29-Aug-25 21:45:23

Carl and James??

I missed some of tonight's as Mr D has been away and came back in the middle of Corrie, the selfish creature. He insisted on talking to me wink and I lost a few minutes of it. How did that happen? I hope Carl gets regular check-ups, as he 's in one bed after another.

Theo's treatment of Todd is straight from the abuser's playbook, but parts of it are happening too quickly, IMO. Separating victims from significant others would happen further down the line than this, I think. How long have they been together? About 3 months?

Todd being told not to follow The back to his own home was awful, though - not unlike when he was made to sleep downstairs. A lot of their relationship is, sadly, true to life.

Diffuser Fri 29-Aug-25 22:07:08

Well my flabber was well and truly gasted tonight! Run for the hills James. Todd and Theo's story is reminiscent of Jasmine and Geoff's, but happening faster. Geoff was amicable enough initially, but Theo has been an absolute red flag from the word go. Urgh

BlueBelle Fri 29-Aug-25 22:12:37

Who is Fiona ?

Crossstitchfan Fri 29-Aug-25 22:15:44

Calendergirl took the words right out of my mouth! What idiotic storylines in tonight’s episode. I have been saying for ages that the writers should be sacked. This episode surely proves it! The actors are getting worse and worse too. They are mostly becoming caricatures of themselves.
What on earth is the point in bringing Christina back? She was crap when she was on there before and she certainly hasn’t improved.
I only watch now to see how bad it will get before being axed. The way it’s going, I won’t have to suffer it much longer - it’s getting sillier by the minute and is becoming a laughing stock.

There is nothing interesting about any of the situations at the moment:-
Abi, Carl and Kevin….who cares?
Summer…can’t see the point of her. What is the plan for her?
Dev….his voice finished me off ages ago and he needs to get acting and speech lessons. What is his storyline?
Brodie……can’t act, just screws his face up and tries to look hard. Don’t know where he’s going either.
Jenny…..can’t act, but overacts nevertheless! Just plays to the camera. Breaking into a coffin? Mmmmmm, I don’t think so.
Theo… don’t get me started on that irritating, selfish, twisted man. He is off his head. His son is pathetic too.
Todd….. lovely but needs a backbone (and a decent partner)
Asha….her storyline is making her seem pathetic and spineless. (She is missing Aadi, of course she is, but would never go to pieces in the way she is being made to)
Steve….the writers are turning him into a clown
Deedee….whiny and pathetic. Another one with no acting ability. Why is she there? Her ‘story’ fizzled out ages ago.
Tracy….. plays a good bitch, but that’s all. Doesn’t make me want to be on her team

I have gone off my original point a bit, sorry, but it makes me sad to see Corrie curling up and dying! There must be some decent scriptwriters out there somewhere, mustn’t there? Please????

Who is Fiona ?

She’s the woman in on the car Scam with Theo.

Who is Fiona ?

Is she Carl’s wife? Or have I got that wrong?

Primrose53 Fri 29-Aug-25 22:22:21

Seeing Karl in bed with James was a bit of a shocker. Then we started totting up how many gay people there are in Corrie St.

We came up with 10.
Billy, the late Paul, Todd, Theo, Asha, Nina, Carla, Lisa, James and now Karl.

That’s a very large number for that small street. Who writes this stuff?

LovesBach Fri 29-Aug-25 22:25:34

I read an article about the coming week's TV last Saturday, and the critic said that tonight's episode would be ridiculous and have viewers switching off. Didn't get that wrong.

Crossstitchfan Fri 29-Aug-25 22:28:52

Ridiculous doesn’t begin to describe it! It was boring, far-fetched in some places, and dire.

JenniferEccles Fri 29-Aug-25 22:53:26

Wouldn’t it be a good idea for members of the public to be invited to write a script involving two or three Corrie characters?

I’m perfectly certain your average viewer could come up with way more interesting, and most importantly, believable situations.

Carl in bed with James was the final straw for me.

There has been Sally’s daughter and Imran’s sister.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 30-Aug-25 02:49:28

Is Carl going to use James to get to DeeDee and her new boyfriend/client, who was driving the car with the faulty brakes?

You’ve forgotten Sean, the Queen of Flounces, Corrie’s original gay I think.

There was also Marcus, who was with various members of both sex, and was a nice character. He was a nurse, I seem to recall. The follow up to Martin Platt.

Then there was Johnny Connor’s daughter, who went off travelling and never returned.

And of course ‘our Sophie’, who also travelled and left.

Grannynannywanny Sat 30-Aug-25 07:33:04

The never ending Abi and Carl saga is so boring. Instead of bringing it to a conclusion the scriptwriters have decided to shock us by having Carl jump in to bed with James before Abi’s flight has taken off. It made me burst out laughing as it was just so silly.

As for the conversation between Abi and Carl before she left for the airport. Was the script written by a 14 year old? Abi all hurt and offended because “Tracey said you snogged her” 😆

Are they not allowed to say the word “sex”? Abi told Carl although she’d be sharing a bed with Kevin she wouldn’t be sleeping with him. It was an utterly silly conversation.

I havent watched it in weeks.

In an ideal world I would.

I sometimes come on here, to see if things have improved. But instead they seem to have got worse.

For me, it is the characters themselves that are the problem.

Aveline Sat 30-Aug-25 07:58:15

Asha's story is quite good and worth continuing with. I'm sure it will ring a bell with paramedics and emergency service workers.
Also, not every story has to be a big drama. I always enjoyed the mundane ups and downs of the people of the street. There's enjoyment in little things, small funny events etc. I'd like to see more of Brian. Him and Roy are a good odd couple. Obviously, Evelyn is a treat. Tyrone has the potential to do something daft. The house share of Carla, Lisa, Betsy and Ryan could have it's moments. Not forgetting George and Mary left in Todd's house.
