Time for the next thread.

Sorry Avaline none of your ideas make up for the silliness of it all I accidentally read about the James storyline and thought then, this is going to be a car rash and it was ridiculously written I don’t care if the whole cast is gay but we don’t need all the storylines built on it
I m fast getting to the point that I m watching because there’s nothing else !!

Maggiemaybe Sat 30-Aug-25 08:55:47

I'd like to see more of Brian. Him and Roy are a good odd couple.

Don’t be giving those scriptwriters ideas, Aveline! I wouldn’t put it past them to have Roy and Brian cosied up in that bed above the caff. grin

LovesBach Sat 30-Aug-25 09:22:25

The census evidently shows that 1.5% of the population identifies as LGBT+. For the full Coronation Street cast this surrely would be represented by around four people.

Seeing Karl in bed with James was a bit of a shocker. Then we started totting up how many gay people there are in Corrie St.

We came up with 10.
Billy, the late Paul, Todd, Theo, Asha, Nina, Carla, Lisa, James and now Karl.

That’s a very large number for that small street. Who writes this stuff?

You’ve forgotten Sean, the Queen of Flounces, Corrie’s original gay I think.

There was also Marcus, who was with various members of both sex, and was a nice character. He was a nurse, I seem to recall. The follow up to Martin Platt.

Then there was Johnny Connor’s daughter, who went off travelling and never returned.

And of course ‘our Sophie’, who also travelled and left.

Crikey, seems we are up to 14 now including these and the ones “Beechnut” recalled.

Aveline Sat 30-Aug-25 10:43:16

Brian and Roy tucked up in bed? NOOOOOO! Mind you it's a matter of time...

NotTooOld Sat 30-Aug-25 10:53:04

I really couldn't believe my eyes at the Carl/James scenes. Don't the makers of CS read the reviews? I reckon they do and their revenge was to insert yet more gays/bis into the script. A sort of yah-boo-shucks. We need something drastic to kill off the useless storylines and the useless actors. A tsunami would be good. Pity Manchester is so far from the sea.

Lovetopaint037 Sat 30-Aug-25 10:55:20

The scrip writers should be sued for defamation of what was my go to programme for assured enjoyment. It is ridiculous beyond words. Have no problem with the gay element but now it is off the wall. Poor Billy even he can’t be trusted to behave well.As for the besotted Carl jumping into bed with James at the drop of a hat. Then Jenny who has recently been seen sucking things and batting eyelids in a ridiculous manner dashing into the undertakers and.breaking open that coffin. Well words fail me. If every once dedicated viewer threw a fiver into a pot we would have enough for a good lawyer. As for the scriptwriters I would certainly omit their association with the recent episodes in all future cvs.

sodapop Sat 30-Aug-25 13:06:07

I agree Lovetopaint recent scenes with Jenny have been ridiculous even Glenda was looking embarrassed by the script.
Has Carl got an ulterior motive in his fling with James ?

Calendargirl Sat 30-Aug-25 14:56:22

I just wonder what the members of the cast think when given a copy of the script to learn their lines?

I envisage them in little huddles in the corner, sharing their feelings about the absolute drivel they are having to put across, and make it even slightly believable.

I think the pay check is all that keeps them going.

Crossstitchfan Sat 30-Aug-25 15:48:32

So, as I have asked before, how is it still being shown?

Aveline Sat 30-Aug-25 15:55:09

We say this time and again yet somehow a really good episode comes along and we all praise it.

BlueBelle Sat 30-Aug-25 15:58:18

Except I can’t remember when I last saw a really good episode Avaline Probably the last good subject was Paul’s illness being spotlighted
I really am on the verge of not bothering I m there by a thread

Dottydots Sat 30-Aug-25 15:59:13

Well, it has been a load of crap for a long time now but we still keep watching, don't we?

Aveline Sat 30-Aug-25 16:01:26

That stabbing of Mason was very well done. I think Asha's post traumatic shock symptoms might be good for making people really think about what it must be like to deal with people at the worst point in their lives.
Similarly in EastEnders (sorry!) the storyline with Joel being so affected by the anti feminine influencer is very good. Chilling but sadly relevant these days

Beechnut Sat 30-Aug-25 16:38:41

‘a good lawyer.’….but not DeeDee.

Calendargirl Sat 30-Aug-25 17:56:26

Or Adam.

We shall have to hang on until Evelyn’s qualified

😂

Bukkie Sat 30-Aug-25 18:15:32

Didn't Imran's sister become gay too? She was married or certainly engaged to a man possibly Zeedan??? And then ended up with Johnny's daughter Kate. And one of Paul's carers was too.

😂👏🏻👍 brilliant. That would save the day.

BlueBelle Sat 30-Aug-25 21:28:35

Just seen the lovely Stu in Casualty

Ellie Anne Sat 30-Aug-25 22:03:22

Bluebells I’ve been trying to think who it was. Thank you.
The stories have been awful lately.
James wasn’t feeling well nice before he went away. Hes had a personality transplant.

jobieP Sun 31-Aug-25 08:34:36

Jeeze! Can't we have one red blooded male in the programme?
That was designed to shock us and succeeded.

BlueBelle Sun 31-Aug-25 08:48:55

No Jobie it didn’t shock me in the least I truly couldn’t care less who has sex with who it’s their business but it was obviously thrown in, like a child throws a firework, to try to shock ….and failed, as most of us just felt what the f ….

Of course anyone can have sex anytime with anyone they choose, no problem for me but it was totally out of context it was just thrown in for a bit of voyeurism and really shows that the writers have no idea of a good storyline AT ALL

Aveline Sun 31-Aug-25 10:01:19

I agree. It was pretty feeble

Crossstitchfan Sun 31-Aug-25 10:15:04

As usual, Aveline, I agree with you! Feeble only scratches the surface. Nearly all the storylines reek of writer desperation! For ages now, instead of ‘scriptwriters’ I have been calling them ‘scripwreckers’!
Who are these people? Do they get plucked off the streets with instructions to write a few lines for Corrie? They can’t possibly be properly trained!

Maggiemaybe Sun 31-Aug-25 14:50:36

And I just remembered Tracey having a fling with a female solicitor a few years ago. When I googled it I saw that Tracey had claimed at the time to have bedded more women than Madonna while she was in prison.
