We have just watched all four episodes of this series this afternoon. I am not normally a fan of Sheridan Smith but this is a brilliant drama and she is very impressive. The rest of the cast are also very good.

More than that, what a formidable person Ann Ming is. The world is a better place with people like her in it.

Pleased to hear it is worth watching. I took the precaution of Bookmarking it for future viewing but haven't watched it yet.

I binge watched it. Sheridan Smith is so good at playing forceful women who stand up to men.
It was a very powerful drama. The ending had me in tears.

I have watched the firtst 2 episodes and loved it , can't wait to see the rest, I had tears inmy eyes.

I binge watched it too. Ann Ming was a force to be reckoned with and thank goodness, through her sheer determination and over several years, she managed to change the law. I was so full of admiration for her, fighting on even after her terrible ordeal and the grief that a parent can never really recover from.

Sheridan Smith was brilliant. I'm glad to see her once again in a serious, important, drama rather than conveyer-belt type nonsense like The Castaways (which I, foolishly, watched right to the very ridiculous end).

Binge watched all 4 episodes on Sunday, good series, Sheridan Smith plays Anne really well, emotional and story of a mother who won't give up.

I've not seen the drama, but I have seen a documentary about this story and am in awe of this remarkable woman.

Absolutely brilliant. Sheridan Smith is a fantastic actress. We loved it and showing the real Ann Ming was a lovely touch.

Watching it as it comes on so see 2 and enjoying it Sheridan Smith is excellent in the part

TerriBull Tue 02-Sept-25 21:42:07

I've watched them all. Sheridan Smith, a consistently good actress, has excelled herself in this. It's very moving, especially at the very, very end, but no spoilers. I loved Kevin the grandson what a gorgeous little boy.

I don't much like Sheridan Smith, but she was great in this. What a struggle (and victory) Ann Ming had. I cried at the end.

I’ve watched it all, it was very moving and Sheridan Smith played the part so well. I got so angry at the incompetence Ann Ming experienced and admire her fortitude so much, it was lovely to see her at the end. I agree TerriBull the little boy was gorgeous.

So we've just watched the last episode. What courage and fortitude Ann Ming displayed and what an inspirational woman she is. It was a very moving and very emotional ending when the real Ann appeared (don't want to spoil it)

I’m almost scared to watch this because I’ve read how good it is and the fact that it’s based on a true story means it’s going to be a hard watch.

Easily the best drama for years on TV. Sheridan Smith is outstanding playing Ann Ming. What an incredible woman Mrs Ming is.

We watched all episodes and agree with everyone here, it was brilliant.

If you google the story, the perpetrator is looking to be moved to an open prison... Does anyone believe he could have truly repented and reformed? Not me, for one.

Jaxjacky Wed 03-Sept-25 14:46:32

We’ve watched the first two episodes, it is a very good piece of drama.

I listened to Anne on woman’s hour so I knew what happened.
One detail she mentioned which wasn’t in the series was the fact that Lord Falconer who was Secretary of State for justice under Tony Blair.
She stated that if it hadn’t been for him she would not have succeeded.

I read about this years ago and was so impressed with the campaign for change.

Which channel is it on? I haven't heard any publicity for it.

ITV1.
I've watched the first two - very harrowing, especially at the end of the first episode.

Ann Ming deserves a medal as big as a frying pan. So courageous 🥹
