Before I watched the first series I remember fearing it wouldn’t be a patch on the original one, but I loved it straight away.

So many re-makes are very disappointing.
The Darling Buds of May comes to mind which I thought was very poor in comparison with the first.

JenniferEccles I totally agree with you. Before the first series we were fearful it wouldn't match the original series, but it easily does and we personally think it's better. Love all the characters especially Mrs. Hall, Siegfried and Mrs. Pumphrey but our absolute favourite is Tristan played by the wonderful Callum Woodhouse, he lights up every scene he is in. The series is like a warm hug and reminds us of better times when people respected and cared for each other.

Yes Bukkie the sense of nostalgia is a big attraction I think.

Oh I agree Clawdy. They seemed lost without each other. I'm not sure whether it's a deep and respectful friendship or more than that.

I wonder whether the barmaid - is it Maggie? - will have to suffer a tragedy in her life and then the romance between her Tristan starts up again?

I'm too sentimental about programmes such as this, I just want everyone to live happily ever after!

Just love watching this. It's certainly something to look forward to as the nights become longer.
Absolutely loved seeing the scenes filmed in Beamish (supposedly Sunderland) last night.
The characters are brilliant plus the series certainly highlights the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales to a wider audience.

I enjoyed this last night. I could watch them again and again.

I may be the only dissenter but can’t get into the new series even tho I can see it’s well done.If there hadn’t been an old series of it I think I would like this one, but I can’t help the comparisons and I loved the old series and the actors.

That's a shame Oreo - I was late to the party with this remake because I thought I wouldn't like it as I loved the first one, but now I almost think this one is better.

But then I'm a little in love with Siegfried

I posted an earlier thread on all creatures saying I liked the daytime reruns …..and I love this new series too. It’s such a relief from all the grim old stuff on tv at the moment. I’d love to see some other older dramas resurrected too. It would certainly increase ( or even create) the feel good factor in the uk.

Love both series, but they don't make me laugh out loud like the books did.

Love the series both old and new, I think if anything I prefer the new James as the one in the original series came over as being a bit prissy especially as compared to the books. My only complaint is that they appear to have axed the theme music on the newest series which is sad

I have just started watching this. It's a delight.

I’m sure a lot of you will have seen it but I hadn’t- Hope and Glory on iPlayer. It’s only available for 10 more days but I thought it was lovely, funny and sweet. The grandfather reminds me of my Dad, though he wasn’t quite so funny!
Love All Creatures, every version. We had the film version filmed around where I live starring Simon Ward and Anthony Hopkins.

We saved it to watch last night and really loved it. It’s nothing like the books, which I absolutely adored, or the first series but I don’t care, you have to put them out of your mind and treat this as a stand alone. Will Siegfried and Mrs Hall get together? I doubt it but wouldn’t it be nice? I hope they also make a new series of My Family and Other Animals, also with Callum Woodhouse. The whole family can watch these as no bad language.

Last night, Saturday, I watched BBC4. Tristram and James were talking about how they were chosen for the parts and how they prepared to look like real life vets. A wonderful Saturday evening for me. Well worth catching up on if you missed it.

I liked the first episode of this new series too. An enjoyable way to spend an hour.
I’m not very observant, though - I didn’t notice the usual theme tune wasn’t played. I must pay more attention😂.
