Kym Marsh is the imposter I think.. giving it a watch to see what I think

BlueBelle Mon 15-Dec-25 21:18:30

I m watching the Corrie Emmerdale quiz simply because I m not keen on Kim Marsh

Charleygirl5 Mon 15-Dec-25 22:18:23

It is well worth watching. I didn't think so at the start, but it improved immeasurably. It is on, I think, for three consecutive nights.

BlueBelle Mon 15-Dec-25 22:24:15

I ll give it a go then

Grannynannywanny Mon 15-Dec-25 22:38:40

Watched the first episode tonight. Took a while to figure out why the matriarch Helen looked familiar. It’s Jackie Woodburne aka Susan Kennedy from Neighbours.

I was almost giving up half way through and the pace picked up. I’ll stick with it and see what unfolds in the next episode.

MartavTaurus Mon 15-Dec-25 22:56:21

In a word - slow.
Even the obligatory sex scene was slow!
I won't be rushing to see the next episode, it depends what else is on.

Catterygirl Mon 15-Dec-25 23:37:45

I’ve taped it so can decide later.

Calendargirl Tue 16-Dec-25 07:14:34

I watched it.

At first, I thought it was the usual Channel 5 overwrought drama, but Jill Halfpenny hasn’t appeared ‘yet’. grin

Kim March’s dresses looked a bit strange, sort of short and ‘flippy’.

Helen’s hair looked like a bad wig, which I’m sure it was.

I shall watch episode 2 tonight.

Have just watched the 3rd episode, with the final one on tomorrow. Better than the usual Ch 5 drama (with or without Jill Halfpenny!) A tad far-fetched, but will stick with it.Dannii Minogue just made an appearance.

TillyTrotter Wed 17-Dec-25 22:21:35

I am enjoying - I like a good family dynasty-type drama. Different from gritty British dramas but I like it.

BlueBelle Wed 17-Dec-25 23:45:10

Started it but didn’t like it so haven’t gone past half the first episode

Catterygirl Wed 17-Dec-25 23:49:36

We watched and looking fotward to Danni Minnogue joining soo.

Calendargirl Thu 18-Dec-25 06:42:36

Which one was Danni Minogue? Was she the real adopted daughter?

What happened to the DNA tests that Simon was insisting on? Did they ever get done?

All very far fetched, how they all just took her at her word.

They aren’t a very nice family.

I couldn’t take my eyes off that awful wig and the Irish accent was strange as well.
Only watched half of the first episode….life is too short.

I will usually sit through anything but I found this very dull and the characters weren't very likeable. My OH said "do we have to watch this?" so we gave up half way through the first episode. The wig was weird and the background music was melodramatic.

petra Thu 18-Dec-25 20:03:48

Once again I could see by the trailers what was coming 👎

Grannynannywanny Thu 18-Dec-25 20:42:12

I liked Kym Marsh years ago on Coronation St but not so keen on her since then . I’m no prude but I found the sex scenes in this programme rather cringey.

Millie22 Thu 18-Dec-25 20:49:43

I agree we really didn't need that scene last night.

Calendargirl Fri 19-Dec-25 07:10:00

Another waste of 4 hours tv watching, thanks to Channel 5.

It was all so silly.

Simon looked too old to be one of the siblings, perhaps it was his lifestyle.

Was glad he shoved her over the cliff.

Hope Helen and the wig ended up with nice old Bill, who she should have stuck with in the first place.

Did they keep the hotel, or sell it in the end?

The whole set up reminded me of Crossroads, apart from the family, no one seemed to work there apart from the one staff member, Courtney?

BlueBelle Fri 19-Dec-25 07:20:26

So is that a 👎🏼 from those that watched it ?

Did anyone really enjoy it ?

granfromafar Fri 19-Dec-25 08:15:47

I enjoyed it until the final episode, when it became too far-fetched. More like Midsomer Murders, with too many bodies!
Apparently Jackie Woodburne was born in Northern Ireland, so the Irish accent was quite genuine.

Grannynannywanny Fri 19-Dec-25 08:22:12

I stuck with it but was left wondering why I bothered. It was like a bad soap. If it wasn’t for the cringey sex scenes it could have been tucked away in the channel 5 afternoon schedule where there seems to be an endless run of boring movies.

Greenfinch Fri 19-Dec-25 09:13:13

Glad I didn’t bother to watch it. It sounds awful !

Calendargirl Fri 19-Dec-25 13:17:47

It was pretty awful, but it sort of hooked you in.

Would Helen keep wearing that dreadful wig, or would one of the hairdressing team run a comb through and make it look better?

Would the Kym Marsh character keep wearing those short, ‘flippy’ skirts which frankly she looked a bit too old for?

Why did the siblings not gang up together and insist on seeing proper proof that she really was the long lost adopted sister? (Oh, of course, brother Simon was in on the whole thing, plus enjoying torrid sex with ‘Amanda’ (Claire) in a next door bedroom).

Why was the mother such a domineering, controlling old so and so, instead of letting her family take more responsibility and help to run the hotel properly?

And why on earth did she sign the POA after ‘Amanda’ had been so nasty to her?

Just needed Jill Halfpenny to turn up as the real Amanda, instead of Danni Minogue.

Grannynannywanny Fri 19-Dec-25 13:36:46

There were so many loose ends and unanswered questions it looks like they’ve left it ripe for a follow up series.

I’ll not be drawn in again 😆
