Tried to watch this tonight but couldn’t get past the constant use of the F word and other unnecessary swearing. It would possibly be an entertaining series but why the constant swearing?

.

We are all related to Royalty if we trace back the same number of years the programme did with him on WDYTYA!
.

Yes, you're right! King Edward III had more than 20 children so many of us are 'royal!'

He is vile. Cannot abide him or his fake, overpowering accent.

Totally agree. Awful man with a dirty mouth. Cannot watch anything with him in it.

Nannan2 Thu 26-Feb-26 16:17:53

He also,(even on Eastenders) thinks hes clever with the cockney rhyming slang, and calls people (women) 'treacle' a lot- which is of course treacle tart- hes calling them a tart!- to their face! On national tv!

Nannan2 Thu 26-Feb-26 16:18:15

And gets away with it!

Pomgirl Thu 26-Feb-26 16:27:09

Horrible lower class vile individuals..cant stand them!!

Jojo1950 Thu 26-Feb-26 17:16:36

Agree. Very common!

Georgesgran Thu 26-Feb-26 17:21:04

Definitely not my cup of tea, but I thought Treacle Tart is rhyming slang for Sweetheart?

polly123 Thu 26-Feb-26 18:06:24

I have always found him and his exaggerated accent impossible to tolerate.

You are correct, it is cockney rhyming slang for sweetheart 🩷

I agree

I can't stand the man, or the everyday use of the f word as if it was the normal thing to do. Some interesting facts of it
Key facts regarding the origin of the word:
Earliest Record: A 1310 Chester County Court plea roll contains the name "Roger Fuckebythenavele," believed to be the oldest recorded usage.
Alternative Early Uses: Similar words appeared in early 14th-century manuscripts, such as the Proverbs of Hendyng (before 1325).
Etymology: The word is likely derived from Germanic roots (e.g., German ficken) and related to concepts of pushing, striking, or prodding.
Taboo Status: It was largely removed from printed materials between 1795 and 1960.
Popular Myth: The origin story that it is an acronym for "Fornication Under Consent of the King" is false.

Pity it didn't stay out of "popular" use.

I had the misfortune yesterday of seeing a clip of the Gordon Ramsay documentary on netflix and catching some of the aforementioned Danny Dyer programme.

Talk about effing and blinding overload!

It's so unnecessary and had I have been on that caravan park with my children I would have asked for a refund and gone elsewhere.

And they speak like that in front of their children. I don't get it.

Everyone gets upset about Ramsey swearing, but I wonder if he use the name of the prophet in the same sweary way that he says "Jesus" whether he might be censured.

Casual Christian blasphemy seems to be acceptable but not swearing or blasphemy in relation to Islam

^his fake, overpowering accent.^

That's put on because he is really royalty!

LOVE this comment about Mr Dyer.

Star Stories used to do a great send up of the Dyer Act and Schtick.

Also saw the episode of WDWTYA which uncovered his hetlritage

Just shows the calibre and sort of people who are descended from Royalty.

Hes a Dick head

If it's Danny Dyer swearing is a way of lifewith him, cannot bear him! Common place witha lot of shows,no needfor it apart from the fact they seem to think it's cool!

I watched it for around 15 minutes then turned off because it was so ‘dire’. 😄 geddit?

I dont know anything about these two except their names, but the accent and the constant swearing was enough.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was watching a programme the other day (I think it was Patience - good drama), where an Asian, presumably Muslim, police officer exclaimed ‘Jesus’. I’m not religious, but I think there would have been an uproar if a Christian or Jew exclaimed ‘Mohammed’.

TiggyW Fri 27-Feb-26 20:09:45

So Danny Dyer is related to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor? Bet he’s proud of that!
