Quiz night is back. New series of everything. Does that mean ( with all this heat) that winter is coming?

For 'NobsOnIt', if you've "never watched" 'Quiz Night', then JUST HOW could you possibly "can't stand Only Connect", or refer to "Gobby Queen Victoria Coren in charge, does she ever shut up"? As you haven't seen it, you seem to have strangely forthright opinions?! Which, though 'forthright', are also wildly inaccurate (crystal ball went a bit cloudy there??), as half the contestants are female, the 'connecting wall' and 'missing vowels' round are perfectly 'doable', and "gobby" Ms Coren is probably one of the brightest presenters on any TV, and has been directed to explain those oh so difficult answers in a friendly, chatty style (your "gobby"), to all those of us who were baffled. You should write in and complain to them, she and hubby David Mitchell will doubtless be devastated?

NB >> If you found Ask The Family difficult, then yes, I'm afraid Only Connect would be quite a challenge, but then of course, you WOULD need to actually see it first?

Of course, there are levels of all sorts of shows, some folk like Shakespeare, some like EastEnders, HollyOaks & Love Island, some like Strictly, a subset prefers Ballet, some like Masked Singer, others might like Opera?

Only Connect is for those who like 'brainstrain' cryptic crosswords, and I can only do the occasional 'Missing Vowels' question on it (the last section, so I rarely bother, more IsNibs thing), but you might find the daytime or teatime quizzes more to your taste. There's a thing called 'House of Games', has an assortment of rounds (varies by day), quite good fun and not just Gen Knowledge? Or try Tipping Point, or Countdown perhaps?

Yes, Tennis has finished, I did see this wizened old chap in the Royal Box, seemed to be newly covered in Ronseal, and he got over-excited when Djokovic won his quarter-final. I eventually realised it was Cliff Richard.

And though that's over for another year, and the World Cup will soon be for 4 more, it IS Sewing Bee starting tonight (Tuesday) - hurray, though the jury will be out for a few weeks as they have yet another new presenter.

Great news! I have to record them, but it makes Tuesdays better.

Me too, we will be watching them tonight !

Try Mastermind the general knowledge round ; there’s usually some questions I can answer and the specialist rounds can be interesting , although you need patience often or put the kettle on

Oh no. I’m ok not knowing the answer to the UC questions ( or even not understand the actual question) but feel a complete numpty when I don’t know the Mastermind answers sad. Which is most of the time…

I like VCM, it's good to have a presenter who's comfy enough in their own skin to be themselves on TV, she's unapologetically brainy & whimsical. My general knowledge & lateral thinking aren't strong enough to get the answers (except for missing letters) but that doesn't make the questions boring.
Enjoy quiz night, gives me some respite from wall-to-wall sports TV in this house.

I watch UC and realise all is not lost, very clever future leaders i hope

My worst performance on UC since my last pregnancy, only one starter question correct. Cannot even blame it on baby brain 😹

We enjoy Mastermind, DH isn’t a fan of Only Connect, consequently not regular viewers.

We do enjoy a quiz, and are competitive, seeing who gets the most correct answers. DH is excellent on History, I am more across the board with a little knowledge on most things (thank you school)
