Anyone up for a 'Traitors thread'?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Oct-26 22:03:59

Brilliant final, just wish James Blunt hadn’t voted for the final banish. Well done Bash & Romesh 👏👏👏

Visgir1 Fri 30-Oct-26 22:10:53

Loved it... Well done Faithful Romesh and Bash such a shame James voted to not end it.
If you want to see a brilliant finale see the last one of the Australian series 2 that's hysterical.

Great final - the look on James Blunt's face was priceless! Well done Romesh and Bash.

Is the Australian Traitors on iPlayer?

nanaK54 Fri 30-Oct-26 22:25:20

That was great, well done Romesh and Sebastian!

BlueBelle Fri 30-Oct-26 22:26:39

I was rooting for Kenny but I love Romash so really glad he won and so very happy at the charities they both choose brilliant Bash, whoever he is, was a clear thinker
Afraid James Blunt drives me to drink, he irritates me so much but I’m sure he’s a nice chap really The end was a good episode some of the other episodes have been poorer than other years in my opinion

Aveline Sat 31-Oct-26 07:51:19

I don't know. I thought it was all pretty dull but hyped up to an extraordinary extent. I thought Kenny would win but am glad he didn't. Controversially, I also wish the prize money was going to other charities but it's their choice I suppose.

Parsley3 Sat 31-Oct-26 09:11:26

Poor Blunty. To give him his due though, he stayed consistently wrong to the bitter end.

I immediately thought, How very BBC. Romesh is their golden boy and I presume its licence payers’ money.

But like you say, it’s their choice.

NotSpaghetti Sat 31-Oct-26 09:29:45

Prize money is small fry compared to other production costs I'd expect!

NotSpaghetti Sat 31-Oct-26 09:31:28

I'd no idea Romesh is the BBCs "golden boy" either.
Amol Rajan is that, surely?

It's Romesh and Claudia who front BBC's TV Licence self-promotions. He's got a prime time BBC Radio show, he's on goodness knows how many programmes - admittedly not all BBC. In fact he was on 3 channels pretty much all at the same time last night.

I would say he's definitely got a BBC golden aura about him right now.

NotSpaghetti Sat 31-Oct-26 09:52:26

I really hadn't seen that!

Fallingstar Sat 31-Oct-26 10:18:58

I think Romesh is just a very successful comedian, hadn’t even really noticed which channel he tends to be on.
Not sure why this is causing a problem.
He was pretty popular on this thread until his named charity was for refugees, surely it can’t be that 🙄

Parsley3 Sat 31-Oct-26 10:22:48

Surely not, Fallingstar.

Nandalot Sat 31-Oct-26 10:25:08

Indeed, Romesh is on a lot of things. Other comedians even joke about it, for example on Mock the Week.
I thought the last two episodes brightened up an otherwise fairly mundane series.
I feel sad that James A is getting such a lot of flack. He looked so ill at his last round table. I think he would have been fine if he could have stayed as a faithful. He really did not want to lie. It is a pity that he was put in that position.

Maremia Sat 31-Oct-26 10:37:23

Are there some uncharitable thoughts about the chosen charities?

Maremia Sat 31-Oct-26 10:40:58

Are we told in advance what the charities are?

No, James A did not want to become a Traitor but he knew that would be a possibility, he knew exactly what arena he was entering. Someone so fragile should have been strongly advised not to contemplate joining such a stressful programme. Presumably they have health checks first?

When he left he could in fact have taken full responsibility for the murder in plain sight in the library. Instead he left with a finger pointing at Maya.

Maremia Sat 31-Oct-26 10:56:23

Such a Traitor thing to do. 😃

Bless his cotton socks! I thought he was going to cry! 💔💔

JenniRen Sat 31-Oct-26 10:58:50

Yes, he looked truly distraught.

Yes, the final thrust of the dagger, getting his own back on Maya for recruiting him.

I agree with you as the ending was a bit meh really.

I work for a charity and would have loved the money to have gone to a children's cancer charity.

Fallingstar Sat 31-Oct-26 11:07:48

Was a young man on the news this morning talking about his time as a traitor on the show a while back, he was saying he fully understood how upset James A was and how he had also struggled. I don’t think is unreasonable for a person to find such an intensive and immersive game stressful and for emotions to become heightened, indeed I think the producers go to great pains to make sure the tension is ratcheted up.
Hence James B struggling at the end and others having a bit of a wobble from time to time.
And I don’t think someone like James A should be barred from taking part due to his MH issues, he is probably pretty robust and able to cope with most ordinary everyday problems and thought that the show would not get to him quite so much. And well done him for getting so far and realising his own limitations.
I don’t think the game was compromised in any way, in fact it made the headlines due to his creating an unexpected twist.

They don't tell viewers what the charities are beforehand but it's not based on viewer voting so I don't know why. There has been controversy around the choice of winning charities, as it's a coincidence that they are both refugee based.

AI says:
The contestants competed for a wide variety of organizations. Winners Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft played for the Refugee Council and Choose Love, while other participants supported causes such as The Louis Dundas Centre (Amol Rajan), Bamboozle Theatre Company (Bella Ramsey), Friends of the Earth (James Acaster), Blue Marine Foundation (James Blunt), The King's Trust (Jerry Hall), UNICEF (Joanne McNally), and Tamworth Wellbeing and Cancer Support Centre (Joe Lycett).
Additional participating celebrities and their charities included Julie Hesmondhalgh (Reubens' Retreat), King Kenny (Rethink Mental Illness), Leigh-Anne Pinnock (British Red Cross), Maya Jama (Action for Children), Michael Sheen (Tŷ Hafan), Miranda Hart (Astriid), Myha'la (The Food Foundation), Professor Hannah Fry (Alzheimer's Society), Richard E. Grant (Longfield Community Hospice), Rob Beckett (Matt Palmer Trust), Ross Kemp (Haemophilia Society), and Sharon Rooney (Robin House Children's Hospice).
