Afternoon all, just had a call from the chap at the fishing holiday place. he would like me to pop along on Friday for another "chat" with him and his wife, but including their daughter this time. (She handles the website and marketing side of the business)

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 15:05:20

I do agree phoenix it does not matter where clothes are bought or how long ago, if left unworn for any reason, they definitely do shrink.

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:13:16

wink it's an absolute fact! I think but may be wrong that staff wear uniform polo shirts/ sweatshirts but will find out more on Friday.

Galen I'm inclined to agree with you, Jack loved his fishing but only fly or sea, I don't think he ever even tried coarse.

shysal Tue 28-Jan-14 15:27:54

Here's hoping Phoenix, I do hope it will be a yes!

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:31:33

I have a feeling that it might be, as he said that if all goes well on Friday, they might ask me to do a week for cash (not sure if that's naughty or not?) to make sure that we are all happy, rather than set it all up straight away.

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:32:23

PS If it does happen, then we might have to think about how I'm going to get there!

grannyactivist Tue 28-Jan-14 15:34:09

phoenix that does sound very promising. Here's hoping! smile

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 15:51:30

A week for cash sounds good to me. Is it far away from where you live?

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:52:00

Thank you!

This enforced break from employment has enabled me to sort of sit back and take stock.

I really don't think I'm a "corporate" sort of person, Mystery Shoppers Ltd was still very much a family run business, even though I was dealing with large corporate customers (British Gas, National Lottery, Unilever etc). This place is still very much family run, and although the owner is now 70, he doesn't seem willing to "let go" , even though he seems to have some health problems.

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 15:59:31

He may have little option, his health may have the last word!

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:02:33

Charleygirl according to the AA route planner, it's just over 7.5 miles, (on the doorstep by local standards!) but the first 3 or 4 miles are narrow lanes, but everywhere is like that getting out of the village!

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:05:26

If this works, you can have a look at it here:

www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp#fromNode=0%7CEX21%205RT%7C%7C-4.215727%7C50.861315%7CtoNode=18260060166769%7CEX21%205XT,%20Beaworthy%7CSTREET%7C245079%7C101138

If not, on the AA Route Planner, it is from EX21 5RT to EX21 5XT

Dragonfly1 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:21:39

Good luck Phoenix, will keep them crossed for you!

Mishap Tue 28-Jan-14 18:54:12

Good luck - they sound very nice. What was your impression of them? Would you be happy to work there?

You can bone up on fishing I am sure - I wish you all the luck in the world.

Eloethan Tue 28-Jan-14 18:57:59

That sounds promising phoenix. Good luck.

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Jan-14 19:21:54

The best of good luck Phoenix. First get the job, then see how much having to work Saturdays grates on you. Getting another job will be easier if you're already employed. But it looks a lovely place - imagine siting out there in the sun during lunch breaks - and fresh trout for dinner.

annodomini Tue 28-Jan-14 19:38:12

As the owner is 70, he may well feel more comfortable employing a 'mature lady'. Hope so.

Lona Tue 28-Jan-14 20:03:51

Looks great phoenix, lots of luck on Friday xx

Ana Tue 28-Jan-14 20:08:35

I agree, anno, and so may his daughter. Good luck, phoenix!

shysal Thu 30-Jan-14 19:04:40

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow Phoenix, I have a good feeling about ths one!

Charleygirl Thu 30-Jan-14 19:15:45

Good luck, hopefully you are alone for the second interview and the 18 year old waiting for his interview last time was bypassed.

My fingers are crossed.

kittylester Thu 30-Jan-14 19:19:26

Good luck Phoenix. You so deserve it! Xx

Marelli Thu 30-Jan-14 19:49:20

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, phoenix xx

Kiora Thu 30-Jan-14 19:50:04

Haven't kept up does your Mr P like his job? & fingers crossed for tomorrow

Lona Thu 30-Jan-14 20:56:40

Loads of luck phoenix xx

Ana Thu 30-Jan-14 21:04:26

Yes, it is frustrating when we don't get to hear the outcome of things! [V. nosy emoticon]

Good luck with the interview, phoenix smile
