Afternoon all, just had a call from the chap at the fishing holiday place. he would like me to pop along on Friday for another "chat" with him and his wife, but including their daughter this time. (She handles the website and marketing side of the business)

I shall be keeping everything crossed for you too - here's hoping 2014 is your year! The Year of the Phoenix - sounds good!

Galen Thu 30-Jan-14 22:00:42

Seconded!

Nelliemoser Thu 30-Jan-14 23:09:53

Phoenix Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

When you talk about the odd days of working it could be worse.
My DD is on nights this week. When everyone settles down for the evening she is setting off from home at about 8pm to do a shift until 7am ish.

Then she will see her 16mth old for a little while before dropping him off at nursery so she can get back home to sleep. Not fun at all.

Anne58 Thu 30-Jan-14 23:34:53

Many thanks to you all, and you can rest assured that I will let you know how it went! (Might be a bit of a delay, due to the logistics of current car sharing, but there are plans in hand for that!)

it's not my "dream" job, that one came and went, however I like the fact that this is a very successful family run business, so if I'm actually offered it, I think I will have to take it.

Off to bed know, only feeling slightly unhappy about my decision to leave the hair removal!

seasider Thu 30-Jan-14 23:53:42

Very best of luck x

kittylester Fri 31-Jan-14 07:47:56

Good luck phoenix - everything crossed for you! sunshine

shysal Fri 31-Jan-14 08:51:23

I hope your 'friends' to whom you gave a car are helping with travel arrangements, they should be delighted to return a favour!

Anne58 Fri 31-Jan-14 09:32:52

Thanks all! I've got to be there for 2pm, so I've just dropped Mr P at work so that I've got the car.

Well, would you believe it! I've just had a call from another job I applied for, and they've offered me an interview shock It's a bit like buses, isn't it?

Ariadne Fri 31-Jan-14 09:33:54

Good luck, Phoenix - you deserve it! xx

NfkDumpling Fri 31-Jan-14 09:36:31

Remember a bird in the hand and all that.
Sending good vibes! It looks like such a nice place to spend the summer! Calming smile.

glammanana Fri 31-Jan-14 09:40:39

Fingers crossed for you sending positive thoughts from up North smile

Nelliemoser Fri 31-Jan-14 09:44:34

I will send strengthening thoughts through the ether at about 2pm.
Get out there and wow them.

It makes life slightly more complicated tricky when you have another possibility in the offing.

A bird in the hand situation. Good luck xx

JessM Fri 31-Jan-14 09:48:24

all the best Phoenix

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 31-Jan-14 09:50:26

Good luck phoenix.

Lona Fri 31-Jan-14 09:52:03

The call from the 'other job' should give you that little boost of confidence. sunshine
Go girl!

annodomini Fri 31-Jan-14 10:02:46

Perhaps the economy really is picking up! hmm. Good luck today phoenix.

Anne58 Fri 31-Jan-14 15:28:48

Just got back!

The good bit is they want me to go in for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week to see if I like it. The bad bit is that I'm certain that when we talked money last time the hourly rate was higher than what he said today hmm

grannyactivist Fri 31-Jan-14 15:40:09

Okay - so you have a bit of leeway to go to work next week on a 'suck it and see' basis, but you also have time to respond to the other job interview. If you go to work and actually find you like the job and it suits then you could perhaps say that you'd like to accept the job, but would need more money to make it viable. Or, if you attend the other interview you could be up front about the job you're trialling and ask them to make a decision by the end of next week.
You're right - like buses!! You must be feeling quite perplexed.
But well done anyway. You have a job. Sort of. confused

shysal Fri 31-Jan-14 15:48:15

Well done! At least it is not a 'no'. It can't do any harm to give it a try.You have been to unsuccessful interviews before, so cannot bank on the other job. I think a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush! flowers

Anne58 Fri 31-Jan-14 15:51:25

Thank you!

The other job interview isn't until Wednesday the 12th, so I might be in a sort state of limbo, if you know what I mean. confused

petallus Fri 31-Jan-14 16:02:50

It seems to be quite the norm to go for a trial few days. My daughter did this twice recently.

If they really like you they might be prepared to up the hourly rate.

Charleygirl Fri 31-Jan-14 16:25:07

phoenix that is rather naughty if the financial goal posts were changed. I am inclined to agree with grannya, see if you like it and they like you. At the very least it will be 3 days dosh cash in hand.

Did the old man mention proof reading and if so I hope he intends to pay you for that.

Mishap Fri 31-Jan-14 16:36:22

Sounds very complicated! I just hope that the end result is good!

Dragonfly1 Fri 31-Jan-14 17:22:03

Well done for a successful interview! It's a bit of a mare that the other interview isn't till the following week though. Rock and a hard place... It might yet all work out though.

dustyangel Fri 31-Jan-14 17:44:33

Well done Phoenix! I'm with GrannyA and Charleygirl see if it feels right next week, presuming the job's offered to you then, you can say you already have an appointment for the following week without it being too difficult.
