Welcome Friendsusan and MrsEggy and others new to Gransnet. Friendsusan, your name reminds me of Milly-Molly-Mandy and Little Friend Susan!

Thank you everyone for your welcome. Had a meeting last week with about 8 friends who I met when I joined NHR (now NWR) in 1968. We still meet on a fortnightly basis and draw up a programme for the next few months, though our discussions are not so earnest and intellectual now. Any other ex NHR members out there? Its been so good to have friends like this over the years. smile

annodomini Sun 17-Feb-13 16:14:26

I'm an ex-NHR member and a NWR member now. In 1973 I started a group where I lived, near Nottingham; moved to Hinckley where I started another but when we moved to King's Lynn there was one there already in which I made many friends. When we moved north, I got a job and then was involved in local politics, but since I retired, I've joined a local group and enjoy good companionship in it. I am also running its book group at the moment. I am still in contact with some of my old friends at Christmas.

Welcome, newgran1! smile

I'm a little puzzled though - how is it possible that being a gran is new to your mum, if you are also one? confused

Grandmanorm Thu 14-Mar-13 12:03:06

Welcome all, there should be a bit of a warning as this site can become very addictive and time can just disappear.
It is great and lots of opinions expressed here.

No - I understood that you were a first-time gran, newgran, don't worry! I hope you'll enjoy it on here, but as others have said, it can eat up whole chunks of your day....grin

whenim64 Thu 14-Mar-13 12:19:33

Hi newgran and welcome. Nice to see your name is blue to show your profile, and that you have a very young baby in your family - congratulations! We have a 6 week old grandson who is stealing our hearts more and more each day. Look forward to chatting to you smile

harrigran Thu 14-Mar-13 15:58:10

Welcome newgran1 I hope you have plenty of spare time because once you are on here it is difficult to get off again smile

Marelli Thu 14-Mar-13 16:09:04

Hello newgran1. Pleased to meet you - and it's true what harrigran says! Once you get on here, it's hard to get off again! I keep telling myself, "just one more wee look, then I'll go and do something else", but it doesn't always work! wink
