Bit crude but I quite enjoy it.

Pure pantomime.

We watch it in Monday nights. It follows Miranda so you have an hour of really good comedy.

I liked Mrs. B first time round, found there was rather too much of her over the holiday period. I agree it is first class panto though, and might get back to it, now we have had a break. I don't usually like bad language, but on this programme it seems to be less offensive some how.

Sorry but even the ads for it and the one for Miranda [the star in that programme is brilliant in Call the Midwife] are bad enough. I'm just not into that sort of Music Hall comedy. I loved The Good Life, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Monty Python and that's it for British comedy. The American 'The Office is better then the British programme - because it doesn't have the dreadful Ricky Gervais in it. Friends,The Odd Couple,Taxi, Cheers, Fraser et al that's my kind of comedy. Takes all sorts.

Yes, it is crude and it is slapstick, but it is the first programme that has made me laugh until I cried for a very long time and as such I think it is an absolute tonic.

I'm with you Ella . I don't mind the swearing or crudity but I just don't find it funny. OH loves it, he said to me 'you'll love this, it's the new Father Ted'. I'm afraid not, Father Ted was in a class of its own

I know Ana, so can I. Even thinking of things like Mrs Doyle falling off the windowsill makes me start to laugh. It was a gem. Sorry to digress!

It started off as a cult series on Irish television I believe. Very Old Mother Riley'ish [which I loved]. Probably the only comedy programme that everyone I work with watches so it appeals to all ages. I do love Miranda [although the S.O. turned to me the other day and said 'do you actually find this funny?'; and I must admit to sometimes not being able to watch it as the situations are too embarrassing and I cringe inside]. I agree about Frasier which, although it went on for a couple of series to many, was pure class. My all time favourite was Kate and Ali. Don't find many things on the telly funny these days, although I should watch Outnumbered which makes me laugh when I do see it. And I hope there's another series of Lead Balloon. We don't seem to get the American series on that we used to; not sure why.

Mrs Brown is actually a man! I enjoy it because it is funny and irish--and I love irish people....
