Ana Sat 12-Jan-13 22:21:24

Not to my taste, but DD loves it!

Daisyanswerdo Sat 12-Jan-13 22:46:37

I love it too

petallus Sat 12-Jan-13 22:50:19

Love it!

Mrs Brown reminds me of a friend of mine.

harrigran Sat 12-Jan-13 22:54:27

Bit crude but I quite enjoy it.

crimson Sat 12-Jan-13 23:02:46

Pure pantomime.

merlotgran Sat 12-Jan-13 23:14:55

We watch it in Monday nights. It follows Miranda so you have an hour of really good comedy. grin

Marelli Sun 13-Jan-13 08:46:16

I love it! And, as merlot says, it follows Miranda grin

Ylil Sun 13-Jan-13 08:47:05

I used to watch it but now find it a bit samey.

petallus Sun 13-Jan-13 08:53:02

Don't like Miranda.

Ariadne Sun 13-Jan-13 09:28:00

Love Mrs B! Not too keen on "Miranda" though.

PRINTMISS Sun 13-Jan-13 09:32:50

I liked Mrs. B first time round, found there was rather too much of her over the holiday period. I agree it is first class panto though, and might get back to it, now we have had a break. I don't usually like bad language, but on this programme it seems to be less offensive some how.

dorsetpennt Sun 13-Jan-13 10:28:50

Sorry but even the ads for it and the one for Miranda [the star in that programme is brilliant in Call the Midwife] are bad enough. I'm just not into that sort of Music Hall comedy. I loved The Good Life, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Monty Python and that's it for British comedy. The American 'The Office is better then the British programme - because it doesn't have the dreadful Ricky Gervais in it. Friends,The Odd Couple,Taxi, Cheers, Fraser et al that's my kind of comedy. Takes all sorts.

Boolya Sun 13-Jan-13 10:32:42

Yes, it is crude and it is slapstick, but it is the first programme that has made me laugh until I cried for a very long time and as such I think it is an absolute tonic.

Ella46 Sun 13-Jan-13 10:35:32

Hate it.

Ana Sun 13-Jan-13 11:19:51

grin Ella!

supergrands Sun 13-Jan-13 11:21:07

Have to agree with you Boolya

nightowl Sun 13-Jan-13 11:29:44

I'm with you Ella grin. I don't mind the swearing or crudity but I just don't find it funny. OH loves it, he said to me 'you'll love this, it's the new Father Ted'. I'm afraid not, Father Ted was in a class of its own sad

Ana Sun 13-Jan-13 11:31:27

Oh yes, now you're talking, nightowl! I can watch the repeats and still find them funny...

nightowl Sun 13-Jan-13 11:45:44

I know Ana, so can I. Even thinking of things like Mrs Doyle falling off the windowsill makes me start to laugh. It was a gem. Sorry to digress!

JessM Sun 13-Jan-13 13:36:07

Is she a man? Only seen the trailers.
Mrs Doyle not a man. Actress quite young and attractive actually.

crimson Sun 13-Jan-13 13:45:28

It started off as a cult series on Irish television I believe. Very Old Mother Riley'ish [which I loved]. Probably the only comedy programme that everyone I work with watches so it appeals to all ages. I do love Miranda [although the S.O. turned to me the other day and said 'do you actually find this funny?'; and I must admit to sometimes not being able to watch it as the situations are too embarrassing and I cringe inside]. I agree about Frasier which, although it went on for a couple of series to many, was pure class. My all time favourite was Kate and Ali. Don't find many things on the telly funny these days, although I should watch Outnumbered which makes me laugh when I do see it. And I hope there's another series of Lead Balloon. We don't seem to get the American series on that we used to; not sure why.

Mrs Brown is actually a man! I enjoy it because it is funny and irish--and I love irish people....

cheelu Sun 13-Jan-13 13:58:33

they are so friendly and down to earth
