I was puzzled yesterday when I couldn't get through to my garage on my mobile. I checked the telephone number on my iPad and tried again, the number was correct apart from the fact that the first zero was missing. Penny dropped, I was using the calculator keypad on my mobile !!!

Yesterday in Northampton when I was a victim of Cash for Crash scumbags.

Despite their best efforts... and the fact that they had removed their brake lights... I managed to avoid hitting them... though heaven knows how.

When I reported it, I was told they tend to target elderly women.

Well thanks a bunch !!

In the middle of watching TV, my daughter had called me on our landline. After the conversation I tried to return the telephone to its holder and got quite cross because I couldn't get the darned thing to fit back in. After several minutes of frustration I realised I was trying to fit the TV remote in there.
I've also wondered around the house looking for the furniture polish only to find I have it in my hand.

I lost the charger for my electric toothbrush. I turned the flat upside down and left it for about 18 months thinking it had to turn up. Eventually I decided to use an Amazon credit I had got as part of a competition prize to buy a new one. When I got it out to charge, I realised that I had to find my plug that took a two pin plug.
Tipping out my bin of wires and plugs, there was my charger attached to the plug. The annoying thing is that I had looked several times in that bin over the previus months and checked again the day that I ordered the new one 'just to be sure'. So now I have two.

Increasing the size of the print with two fingers in a physical magazine - doesn’t work, even after several attempts!

Looking for a packet of Corned Beef for over an hour, only to be told by my daughter, I had swapped it for ham!!!

I bought my first silicone muffin baking tray and thought Id christen it with breakfast muffins. Filled the wells with egg and bacon mix then tried to lift the darned thing into the oven. Egg and bacon all over the floor and very little left in the muffin tray.

Egg on face....shock

Tried to unlock the door by turning the key the wrong way- repeatedly. Took it out of the lock, put it back in and did the same again.

I have to stop myself saying please and thank you to Alexa and Echo Dot.

We’re in Melbourne Australia visiting our daughter. Went to the cinema and couldn’t understand why the card machine wouldn’t accept my credit card to pay for the tickets....I’d only inserted my driving licence instead.

Oh...alexa! The kids fitted one up for my husband to play music in his room upstairs. The problem is he can't remember the name.
I was really concerned about his mental state when he came down, and started to complain at length about "you know....that woman upstairs!"

Yesterday - when I mentioned to DH that the "laudanum" I could see on the street was looking particularly nice. [Laburnum...] The funniest thing was that he agreed with me and knew exactly what I was talking about!

pollyperkins Sat 05-May-18 11:47:23

Ha ha these have made me laugh out loud! I'm glad it's not only me. I find my library card does not work at the leisure centre and vice versa!
I requently forget names of people I know perfectly well and it can be embarrassing when in a group I say 'Well I agree with... umm' and gesture towards them. They always notice and remind me kindly of their name. [Blush]

pollyperkins Sat 05-May-18 11:47:58

Why did that not work?

jocork Sat 05-May-18 11:52:56

I'm increasingly forgetting names and often go upstairs for something, get distracted doing something else then remember what I wanted just as I get back down.
My best though was the time I was making fruit flapjack to take to work for my birthday. Because I was making a large quantity I'd multiplied the ingredients and had to weigh the oats in a few separate batches. The flapjack was great getting many compliments from colleagues one of whom even said it was 'to die for'. When I got home I found my weighing scale pan brim-full of oats! The last lot never made it into the mixing bowl so the result was very very rich, buttery, sticky flapjack! I now reduce the oats slightly but not quite that much!

Blinko Sat 05-May-18 11:53:41

capital 'B'?

pollyperkins Sat 05-May-18 11:55:51

Yes that'll be it probably. It's very fussy!!

too many to remember

newnanny Sat 05-May-18 12:45:12

Every so often about once a week I go to say something and I have a total blank. One day someone asked me which bank I used and I went to tell them but could not recall. This is despite banking with them for 30 years. One day I went to town to post parcel at Post Office and when I parked in car park I just sat there and I could not recall where I had to go. I rang dh and asked him where I was going and as oon as he said parcel I remembered. I find it scary and worrying and now I am writing down all appointments which I never needed to do in past. I sometimes now forget names which I have always been good at remembering. I am not even all that old. I am desperately hoping it is just the menopause. Anyone else had this and then went back to normal again?

nellgwin Sat 05-May-18 13:01:52

Yes last night, I read my emails a day late from my friend flying out to me for a holiday, picking up at 22.50pm. Got to the airport ( one and a half hour drive ) and waited and waited no sign of them, waited for all flights to come in, still no one, had I got the wrong time? dear husband put me in a taxi to take me home just in case we had missed them (135€) and to check my email, while he waited at the airport.
Had I got the wrong time, of course not, just wrong day, so we will be at the airport again tonight to welcome our guests to Portugal.? Unfortunately not the first stupid thing I've done but a gold medal time I think and DH ? not a word about my stupidity just a cuddle and a kiss.

I am so pleased to know I am not alone. I am moving house and have just been conned by a former gardener with a sob story. Such a nice young man = I wish I could post a warning somewhere about him - I am left feeling very foolish. Still onwards and upwards.

Bellanonna Sat 05-May-18 13:23:10

Such a relief reading many of these posts. So glad it’s not just me. The pinching of the written page with two fingers really made me laugh out loud. I’ve done it more than once, along with so many of the other quirks mentioned.

sluttygran Sat 05-May-18 13:26:39

I lost my purse containing bank cards etc.
I searched everywhere, no luck, rang local shop - they hadn’t seen it, cancelled bank cards, then decided on a comforting cuppa. I opened the fridge to get out the milk, and there was my purse, sitting neatly on top of the butter!
This gives a new meaning to the term ‘Frozen assets’.
