Please can anyone tell me what it's called?

Good morning all, and good wishes!

I bought 2 C..... decorations very cheaply on our village facebook page. One of them is a sort of wicker Father C, but I feel that he needs more "filling" in his body, as it seems to have settled at the bottom.

Now, it would be pretty easy to poke some more in through the framework, and it's probably perfectly possible to buy it on line, if only I knew what the damn stuff was called! blush

It looks a bit like long horsehair and is red (he has the same stuff but white in his face, and that's fine, it's just his body that I think needs a bit more).

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

Noooo, Feelingmyage55!

For a start, I don't happen to own any red tights! And if I did, even after shredding, they would not be the same "stuff" as what is already in there!

For it to work well, it must be the same stuff!

I think it might be wood wool, coloured red as in this photo:https://www.prestigewicker.co.uk/products/hamper-filling-wood-wool-natural-250g?variant=29657895698518

Crumpets are OK, Gonegirl because there's nothing lurking in the middle of the holes.

toscalily thank you, but I'd already looked at that, as we use it occasionally at work.

merlot I've carefully examined the FC decoration and can assure you that there is absolutely nothing "lurking" within him, in fact, this whole thread is about getting a bit more stuff within his framework!

Coir/coconut fibre?

phoenix Fri 18-Oct-19 18:53:22

Don't think so, MamaCaz

I've even tried looking for similar things online, with a view to contacting the supplier and asking what it is filled with, but couldn't find anythingsad

toscalily Fri 18-Oct-19 19:05:09

Could you contact the seller and ask what he is stuffed with?

toscalily Fri 18-Oct-19 19:06:18

Ooops, that does not read how it is meant LOL

phoenix Fri 18-Oct-19 19:06:49

toscalily I bought it second hand, as mentioned up thread!

Kapok

BlueBelle Fri 18-Oct-19 19:47:28

Is it like a dyed straw ?

Doodle Fri 18-Oct-19 20:41:36

1. Can you show us a photo of the stuffing?
2. Have you looked online at Hobbycraft stores to see if they have anything like it?
3. Do you live near a local stable where you could pop in at night and take a cutting from a chestnut horse’s tail?

Bathsheba Fri 18-Oct-19 22:17:51

I think Doodle's third option is perfect! grin

phoenix Fri 18-Oct-19 22:18:09

Doodle point 3 shockgrin

Point 1, probably not, would need a close up photo, and bearing in mind my extremely limited photography skills, not likely to be much help.

Point 2. No, I haven't looked at Hobbycraft, but perhaps I should, although I wouldn't have a clue as to what to look for, hence OP! grin

Could you try to take another photo please?

The red sisal looks perfect for the job. I'm a crafter & I'd go with that.

Goingtobeagranny Sat 19-Oct-19 10:58:21

Maybe when the shops get more C stuff in you could find a bit of tinsel that would match and stuff him with that?

phoenix Sat 19-Oct-19 11:05:54

Davida1968 I think that's it, thank you!grin

Now, I've just got to find it in red.........

phoenix Sat 19-Oct-19 11:10:13

Thank you to all who posted!

MamaCaz Sat 19-Oct-19 12:30:41

Gransnet at its best smile

4allweknow Sat 19-Oct-19 13:44:37

Whatever it is it looks dyed. Coconut 'hair' is being used for stuffing nowadays. A modern replacement for horsehair, perhaos that.

phoenix Sat 19-Oct-19 13:44:58

Absolutely, MamaCaz! grin

When the sisal arrived and he has had his stuffing topped up, I will post another photo.

Merlot do you want to pm you with thread title so that you can avoid it?

willa45 Sat 19-Oct-19 14:06:48

I think he's adorable just the way he is.....but pictures often don't show well. Polyester fiberfill might work. Once again, I always look in Amazon first. Good luck!
