'Bo Peeps Arms' (formerly Pete's Bar) reopening night

Pete's old place has been empty for a while now but a few of us 'regulars' slipped down the lane one night, prised away a few planks holding the door on, and are now squatting in the public bar.

The tea-lights add an interesting 'dimension' to the bar (plus magically erase wrinklesgrin).

It needs cleaning up a bit - so laydees come along, bring rags/buckets/mops - and whatever else you can lay your mitts on to swab the decks down. I've brought a box of Country Manor perry - so bring your own tin mugs and we'll get started. The planned Grand Opening Night is tomorrow…so someone will need to nip down to the shop and get in a few bottles. Glam are you okay with rustling up some sausages rolls? you could put a bit of that green stuff (parsley?) on them to make them look posh…..

Mick went in to fumigate the 'Gents' (wearing what looked suspiciously like a gas mask and carrying a sink plunger) about three hours ago and hasn't come out…should organise a Rescue Party? or perhapshmm.

Well I cannot help you as I now have a face pack on.!
Might scare the living daylights out of MICK!

LOL

I'm new around these parts, but as my contribution to the grand opening, I'll bring some chutney and pickles. Very good with sausage rolls and shampoo!

boheminan Mon 04-Aug-14 17:38:49

Welcome to our humble abode MrsPickle - chutney and pickles gratefully accepted.

Now laydees. Who shall we have to officially cut the Great Opening launch ribbon? I've tied the 'Public' door shut with some baling twine.
I've asked young old Fred from the ironmongers (he can bring his own scissors) Wheely Wright from the garage? or Brian the cowman from Hill Farm? I also invited Helena Bonham Carter, David Cameron and Paul McCartney but I haven't heard from them - yet (I'm sure they'll all pop along to wish us luck).

Oh, I do hope Macca doesn't decide to sing an Opening Medley...confused

MrsPickle Mon 04-Aug-14 17:48:38

My dog could chew the twine to perform the opening ceremony. She's very good at chewing!

As long there is enough Real Ale on of various ABV`s from different brewers and some proper pub grub ,anyone for bangers and mash with onion gravy, or a good curry.
Is it a singles environment where the single males can chat up those females and treat them right.

What bar games will be available ?

newist Mon 04-Aug-14 17:59:32

OH I really wish I had typed that last post a bit quicker

boheminan Mon 04-Aug-14 18:05:47

By the look of it 12Michael will be in charge of all bar gamesgrin. Perhaps he's Pete in disguise???
Thank you so much for your kind offer of your dog to chew the twine for the opening ceremony MrsPickle. If Sir Paul, Mr D.C., and Ms H.B.C. don't pull their fingers out soon and reply they will miss their opportunity of a lifetime.
Perhaps we should mention it to Sir Paul that singing isn't allowed between 6-00pm - 1.00amhmm

Bohemian - looking forward already to the reek of unwashed armpits and sweaty beer-soaked trousers. Dirty sawdust-covered floor and the fug of stale cigarette smoke. A couple of curly-edged cheese rolls and a few packets of hairy old pork scratchings. Perhaps a battered unreadable dartboard and a certainly a surly barman grunting in the corner. Unsavoury odours emanating from the primitive dunny out the back. The whole scene colour-washed in tones of brown, nicotine and bilious green. Mild and bitter and brown ale on demand. Can't wait to get back to the simple pleasures of the old 'Golden Gusset'!

Ana Mon 04-Aug-14 18:11:59

shock I don't think Bo Peeps Arms will be quite in that class, papaoscar, but we can aspire...

glammanana Mon 04-Aug-14 18:22:02

papaoscar Mon 04-Aug-14 18:39:20

I think its old Flat Ulence turned up for his pint of Gnats and packet of horses' nuts!

boheminan Mon 04-Aug-14 18:39:54

Did anyone let the sheep out of the shed?

MrsPickle Mon 04-Aug-14 18:41:06

A little off piste, but is there any way I can automatically go to the last post in a thread?

Yes, I heard Macca humming 'Band on the run'.

Nonu Mon 04-Aug-14 19:02:06

Me skive, I DON"T THink SO, see that chandelier over the bar gleaming, well it was me whot cleaned i t with my feather duster.grin

I"ll grant you I may have had the odd sitdown but it was hard work going up ladders to reach it!

Anyway , I will not be able to attend tonight after all as I had forgotten it is the finals of the shove half penny completion at the "Senior Centre Drop in", and I am in with a very good chance of winning top prize of a bottle of "EMVA" cream sherry!! 2nd prize a bottle of Sanatogen tonic wine

That will put a twinkle in Mr N"S eye !

Have the best time !

grin

boheminan Mon 04-Aug-14 19:26:19

I've just had a test message from the town Fire Brigade - they say they will be coming along, when they finish their shift at 12.00, all lights blazing to hose us downgrin.
Right.
Mrs Pickle could you just run home to fetch your dog? What his/her name by the way?
When are you coming with the nibbles glamma? (please don't go too close to the sheep in the outhouse with the meat pie (cannibalism springs to mind).

Elegran Mon 04-Aug-14 19:35:12

Mrs Pickle - If you click on "flip" at the top of the list it reverses the order of the posts, so that the first shall be last and the last shall be first (as it says in the Good Book)

merlotgran Mon 04-Aug-14 19:59:16

Don't want to worry anyone but I've just been out the shed to give Bo's woolly friends some Black Sheep bitter and Macca's warming up - at least I think that's what he's doing. I had to join in a chorus of Mary Had A Little Lamb. I kept telling him the pub's called BO PEEP'S Arms but he says he doesn't know that one! hmm

boheminan Mon 04-Aug-14 20:04:46

Anyone got the key to the shed?
I've got an emergency. Some of my heifers have escaped and were last seen galloping down Hogs Bottom Lane towards townshock. I'd better go after 'em. I'll be back soon. Where's me lasso gone???

merlotgran Mon 04-Aug-14 20:06:54

I tied Macca up with it.....Sorry blush
