Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in Brackley this morning.
Busy day in a way, housework before I go out.
Usual bus journeys to Buckingham and Bicester , for coffees and shopping.
Returning to Buckingham, as its Pancake day , the café I visit does pancakes, so will have some with a coffee.
Then wait for the bus home.
Mick

Good Morning from a cold Fife, it's a tad frosty outside. Have an eye test today followed by an eyebrow shape and tint. Hoping to hear from gillybob today, keep fingers crossed. Hope the meet up in St. Andrews goes well - enjoy everyone! Hope today is good for everyone - take care.

Morning all.
A dry day today in York but the pumps are busy pumping flood water away from the houses and back into the river. Not sure how many properties have been flooded.
What a nightmare!

I'm just on my way to the St.Andrews meetup: fish and chips and pancakes on the menu. Really looking forward to seeing the Edinburgh Grans again and sorry that Marydoll and Elizabeth I aren't well enough to join us.
Hoping for good news from gillybob and a better day for all Grans with problems.

Good morning from the Shropshire borders.Dry at the moment. The flood water peaked yesterday evening so a lot of flooding locally and Shrewsbury shopping centres are closed today,a lot of the roads into the town at present flooded. My daughters went to school in Shrewsbury very near the Severn and can’t believe the school has been closed for the first time ever,as they said their headteacher would have made them swim in.One news report said it’s the highest level the water has ever reached.
I am going to Cheshire Oaks retail outlet today with DD1 so grandpa in charge of the school run.
Hope Mr gilly is doing well after his operation yesterday, sending love and prayers to you both gilly.x

NanKate smile Me too - my parents’ garden! I’ve since bought the seeds for every garden I’ve had in my life and just adore walking outside to that scent on a warm breeze. Enjoy your book and pancake!

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s bright, clear and dry so far, a complete contrast to snow and gales yesterday.
Off to town this morning for my free facial and make up courtesy of our local department store and their E** L** special offer.
Happy birthday Mr C.
Hoping to hear good news from Gilly
Hope today is kind to everyone.

A nice bright start to the day here in Essex. No rain forecast until late afternoon. I must buy an acceptance card for a golden wedding in May. Every time I go out I forget. I’ll tie a piece of string around my finger to remind me. Friends we ve known for 45 years. It’s ours next year - I wonder how we will celebrate! Bridge this afternoon , Home for pancakes and another Bridge session this evening. Keeps the old brain working.

Marydoll Tue 25-Feb-20 08:18:07

Susan, I loved Cheshire Oaks, DH didn't grin. Enjoy!

Good morning from the Ne coast where we have a bright start to Tuesday following high winds overnight.

Well I wish I could report wonderful news that it’s all over and Mr G was on the road to recovery but unfortunately not .

His operation did go ahead as planned and he was first on the surgeons list but the bladder stone proved too big (well it measured 4.5 centimetres in December so it was hardly going
To be smaller was it?) and too awkward to remove via the originally planned procedure so the surgeon had to do it differently and more intrusively .
This meant that he was then unable to do the laser surgery on the prostate that he has waited for since September 2018 and the only operation he would have needed had it been done promptly . It was the enlarged prostate that has caused The urine retention and the huge bladder stone . There was also mention of some kidney damage too.

Nurse said that they would book him in for more scans within the next few weeks and hopefully he will be well enough for the prostate operation in around 3 months .

They said night he may be able to come home tomorrow (Wednesday) and I know he will get better care here than in hospital that’s for sure, but I feel so sad and upset that he will have to go back in again and have yet another operation. He will still not be pain free and not be able to start recovering properly for many months yet .

On top of that I got a call from my dad who had been to the GP on his own (I would normally always go with him) and she is very concerned about the colour of one of his feet .Awaiting a call today to go for an emergency scan . Just watch it be right on visiting time (at a completely different hospital of course) .

Have a good Tuesday everyone . Upwards and onwards.

Love (and huge thanks) to all

Gillybob xx

Depends when you visited Cheshire Oaks Marudoll, it's changed a lot recently. Car parking greatly improved and more shops. Enjoy your visit Susan. The big problem is of course that it's easy to spend money there!

Ginny42 Tue 25-Feb-20 08:30:48

Gilly, I don't know what to say. You are so brave although I imagine you're quaking inside. If it helps to know that people are thinking of you, you can be sure you're in my thoughts and will be all day. xx

32 comments already and it’s not even 8:30am!

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s raining and seems colder than yesterday. The sky is lighter than yesterday though. I’ve come back to bed with my cuppa.

Believe it or not I’m going to do some cleaning this morning (needs must, sigh). Then put my feet back up while I read more of my book ‘The Sealwoman’s Tale’ which I’m loving. Watched ‘Flesh & Blood’ drama on tv last night with Imelda Staunton and Francesca Annis (she is so beautiful isn’t she?) and it’s part 2 tonight.

Oh, just remembered we are meeting friends for a meal tonight! They are coming over from Bolton so we are introducing them to our favourite Italian restaurant here.

We are taking our grandson to his swimming lesson beforehand. He is coming on so well. It’s definitely a skill worth learning. He can swim 3 lengths now quite confidently.

Hoping gillybob has some good news for us today, bless and that Tuesday is good to us all whether we have plans or none. x

Good morning from Colchester. The sun is trying it's best, the wind has dropped so it is chilly. Much nicer than of late.
Here's a big ((hug)) for Gillybob and her family. Why am I not surprised at her post?
Off to volunteer at the Air Ambulance charity shop this morning so better get going.

Urmstongran Tue 25-Feb-20 08:36:07

X posts gilly. Oh you must be a maelstrom of emotions right now. Could your sister go by taxi with your dad tomorrow? It never rains but it pours in your life right now dear lady. x

Auntieflo Tue 25-Feb-20 08:37:09

Good morning Michael, Annie and all.
Warmest wishes and gentle hugs to the Gillybobs, in expectation that the operation went well.
Sunshine here, but then every day it then seems to descend into rain.
I will make pancake batter for this evening, as I am out volunteering as usual this afternoon, and won't feel like making it when I get home.
Last night I made a very tasty red lentil and cauliflower dahl, a new recipe, and successful, and enough to freeze for another day.
Marydoll get well soonest.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all. So far, no nasty weather to report and no sign of snow in this part of Glasgow Marydoll but that could all change in an hour or so?.

A friend phoned last night to tell me her dog was PTS yesterday. She was very upset so I suggested meeting up for a coffee today in the hope I can cheer her up a bit?.

Hoping to hear that gilly’s DH is recovering well from his op.

Have a lovely time in Italy with your DD Bellasnana. It’s so tempting to spend too much with the choice of clothes to be found there?.

Enjoy your meet up in St Andrews Grammaretto. One of my favourite places.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

gillybob Tue 25-Feb-20 08:42:02

My dad has to have an emergency scan today Urmstongran my sister doesn’t “do” stuff like that, so no, I’m afraid it’s up to me to take him . She will have gone to work as normal in her lovely world of oblivion .

One of the biggest problems is that my dad will probably have to go to our local hospital for his scans and DH is in the big hospital in the city centre . Can’t really be in both places at once . hmm

What a carry on . I would laugh about it all if I didn’t feel like crying for my poor DH .

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Feb-20 08:43:00

Goodmorning Mick and all x

Blue sky here in SE Essex, not sure what I am doing today. Have one of the GC staying for their regular sleep-over tonight, so pancakes will be made (they like them with strawberries, banana and Nutella).

gillybob how flipping frustrating for you both. I hope he is able to come back home tomorrow.

Sending virtual hugs to all in need x

Harris27 Tue 25-Feb-20 08:43:13

Good morning all from a cold but clear NE. The snow caught us unaware yesterday but wore my last years never worn posh wellies for work always an upside! Have a lovely day all and enjoy your pancakes! Fingers crossed for the gillybobs.

annsixty Tue 25-Feb-20 08:48:08

Good morning all although it is raining again here in Stockport.
So sorry to here that Gilly’s H’s problems are still ongoing.
You must make your family take some responsibility for themselves.
Your H is your first priority.
Your Dad must get himself to the hospital by taxi.
Coffee out with a friend who picks me up and delivers me home for which I am very thankful.
No pancakes for me, I am on my own tonight and I can’t be bothered, although I could have them for lunch I suppose.
It is worth making them for one?

Kalu Tue 25-Feb-20 08:49:09

Oh gilly cross posts. I am so sorry to hear it’s not all over yet for your DH.

It’s times like this that you feel your life is on hold until just waiting for the day when your poor DH can finally begin to make a pain/problem free recovery?

annsixty Tue 25-Feb-20 08:50:48

Hear not here in my post.

cornergran Tue 25-Feb-20 08:50:48

I’m so sorry gilly. Can only hope today is less difficult than you anticipate.

GrannySomerset Tue 25-Feb-20 08:52:26

Waited until there was news from Gilly and almost wish I hadn’t. Could life get any harder for them? Thinking of them both, as we all are.

Chiropodist due shortly, plus wonderful cleaner, and then the window fitter for a second look at our leaking (new last summer) window. After many thousands of pounds this is not what we expected!

harrigran Tue 25-Feb-20 08:52:28

Good morning from a dry, bright NE.
Poor night as I have been in pain, the area where I have had two operations. Brain runs riot in the small hours.
The family did not get to work or school yesterday, snow prevented them leaving the village.
I wish we were hearing better news from gillybob, speedy recovery is wished for Mr gillybob.

Kalu Tue 25-Feb-20 08:54:11

annsixty enjoy your time out with your friend, it helps to break up the day just getting out for a while.

Re., pancakes....they are not compulsory if you can’t be bothered. I can’t be bothered either?. Hope you have a pleasant evening.
