Good Morning Everyone,
Its another bright and dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Do my essential shop, before I return home, and lockdown.
Looks like another 3 weeks until May 7th.
Planning a slow cooker meal for Sunday and Monday , more tomorrow.

Good morning from another glorious sunny day in paradise! Well thought I would try and have a go at an online shop today. Got through to Morrisons, spent over half an hour filling my trolley, then when I came to choose a slot - none were available. So why don't they let you choose your slot first, before spending time 'shopping' only to find it can't be delivered?!! I presume I can go back onto website and my shopping trolley will still be there, I just have to keep trying for a slot? All new to me I'm afraid - I love shopping, so have never needed to do an online grocery shop before.

Himself has started to chop at the conifers we are getting rid of (they are half dead and look very folorn); he's burning the dead wood (we have a small chimnea), in the evening, so as not to upset anyone with washing out? Our lovely jetwashed stone flags are now covered in branches and dead pine needles - think we should have tackled the trees before cleaning the flags - oh well, have plenty of free time to do more cleaning!

Youngest son is coming this morning as he's going to do a food shop for me - will be nice to see him and we can have a quick chat at a distance. Well, here's to another 3 weeks of lockdown, let's hope the good weather lasts, everything seems much better in the sunshine. Take care.

Good morning from a dull and windy NE Hampshire. One of the neighbours in our road played Vera Lynn singing We’ll Meet Again during the clapping yesterday. At the end we were all stood in the road clapping again. Lovely. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a sunny, but chilly Glasgow.

I'm having a very quiet day, for some strange reason my RA has flared up, and I'm moving like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz, pain levels are high. ☹️. I feel as if my body has toothache!

That is worrying about Gilly, she wasn't in the Maths Class, either yesterday and she is always one of the first to post. ?

I plan to make fishcakes for dinner tonight, from tinned salmon I have in the cupboard, of course, I will need to make extra for DD, who never leaves empty handed.?
I may make chocolate macaroon bars, from any leftover potatoes for my neighbours.
They are loving my lockdown, as I'm supplying them with sweet treats! So much for losing weight.?

Somehow, I managed to grab an Iceland slot for tonight. Out of all the supermarkets, they have been the best! My neighbours have added their things to it. One of my neighbours is craving brussel sprouts! ?
It's also made me think about using them to deliver all my frozen stuff in the future, when lockdown is over, instead of sending DH. That way, I will get exactly what I ordered!?
In fact, I'm going to re- evaluate everything we do.

I'm glad the lockdown has been extended, it's the only way to get the numbers down. My cousin, the night manager in an old folks home, has been very ill for the last three weeks with the virus and she is supposed to be the carer for her sister,
who is sheilding.
As for me, the extension won't affect me!. My release date is 23rd June, it seems a lifetime away. I'm not counting on it!
I can only dream of my walk along the sea front and a paddle in the sea, wearing wellies, with DGD.
I had a video consultation with the hospital yesterday and the doctor was surprised at how upbeat I was, despite the circumstances.
I said it was like being on a retreat, for the first time in years, I have time for myself, guilt free. It has been beneficial for DH too, no driving me to hospital visits in rush hour traffic, no sitting for hours in waiting rooms.
Every cloud has a silver lining,

Love to all, who are unwell and struggling. ?
Dragonfly, I hope things improve for you and Susan, hoping wee Henry is ok.
One of my sons was very like Henry, we had so many scares over the years. However, he has grown into a six foot strapping man, with a bushy red beard, he looks like someone from Braveheart.
Take care all.

A dull day here in Godalming but my run at 05.20 went without a hitch. Saw absolutely no-one which was good.
Some localities near here are having blips in their electricity supply recently, usually occuring after true darkness and with the loss of light from shop windows etc it must be all the more scary for those on their own.
I've made sure new batteries are in my torches, elec candles in holders and mobile always powered up...just in case.
It must have drizzled during the night do no need to water pots and no need to shop. I have everything for the weekend, including flowers, a plant, a card and a pack of my favourite coffee, left by my OH who is still WFH.
It's not my birthday, just a 'missing you' gesture ??
Time for b'fast so I'll have fruit and yogurt with Lizi's granola.
Wishing all GNers a good day and hoping you can find something to smile about during these bleak times.
Take care...???????

Good morning everyone from a bright but breezy Essex by the sea.
DH has gone to the local butchers so we can restock the freezer. I think there will be a big queue.
Lovely pictures from DD1 yesterday, they had set up a big tent in the garden and SIL and my 3 granddaughters were going to spend the night. 8 year old said ' this is the best day ever'. I haven't heard from them yet today to see how it went.
I'm about to make a lemon drizzle cake, never made one before so fingers crossed.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

Good morning everyone from East London , another bright but chilly day . I decided to get up, dressed and have a cup of tea downstairs today instead of taking it back to bed . Now we have another 3 weeks I need to be more structured I think . Yesterday I tried to get into the bank to sort out some financial stuff left over from late DH . It was open from 10-1 , I got there at 12ish but the queue was snaking all down the high street and didn’t move for 10 minutes , so abandoned it and will try today .
DD came yesterday to collect some courgette plants , I have far too many as all the out of date seeds I planted came up !
I left them on the doorstep but we still had a little chat from a distance which was nice . She hopes her allotment won’t be closed up as it’s a nice place to go to with the GC , and people can keep their distance . Good clap last night but noticed less people out hope it’s not waning .

GabriellaG54 Fri 17-Apr-20 08:44:28

Battery candles not elec...?

Grammaretto Fri 17-Apr-20 08:49:19

Good morning Mick and everyone from the Scottish Borders.
Rather dull and cold here. Neither shorts nor snowboot weather but something in-between.

I am on here a bit later than usual as I have been listening to the usual depressing news on the radio.

Poor Scentia I hope you aren't out of action too long.

DN wife. niece-in -law? fell off her bike and broke her elbow. She has 2 small DC and DB & DSiL are desperate to help out but of course they can't.
Sorry you are not too well Marydoll. The hamper from Iceland will be exciting.
Sorry for you with the poorly dog Dragonfly I hope you manage to soothe his eye.

I am going to prune my willow structure today and leave the branches out for others to collect to build their own willow structures. I must be careful on the ladder.

Captain Tom is such an inspiration.
What a cheery post Sar53

Good morning from a sunny breezy Essex. Can't believe its Friday again. We could do with Gillybobs little lady to remind us! Saw DGC from end of path yesterday for "dance on the doorstep" I had put some tiny coloured battery tea lights along the step and said it was a disco and they loved it! I think even the 3 year old is getting used of not hugging Nanny. I do hope they remember how when this is over!!
May do a few inside jobs today as a bit cooler and may find another crevice to dust. Hope everyone can enjoy the day xxxx

aggie Fri 17-Apr-20 08:51:01

Good Morning all, bit cloudy just now , we wouldn’t mind a bit of rain for the garden
I need to finish a crochet blanket but still can’t settle to it , just do one or two rows and have to move on to something else
I think some seeds I planted are too old , poor germination

Kalu Fri 17-Apr-20 08:52:36

Good morning Mick and all. Another sunny start in Glasgow. Just hoping it stays around for the rest of the day and doesn’t cloud over as it did yesterday.

No idea what I will get up to today but the plan so far is to have another coffee and wait for some inspiration.

Have the best day you can folks.

Anniebach Fri 17-Apr-20 08:55:49

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Fri 17-Apr-20 08:59:26

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s cool with white cloud again. Not raining though.
?

I feel better this morning. I slept my anxiety away it seems. I felt so jittery yesterday, most unlike me.

Thank you for reminding me about my countdown brook I’d forgotten about keeping up! It’s Day 35 now here out of 44. Lockdown here is supposed to end a week on Sunday. I wonder if they might let us all go out for a walk? It will have been 6 weeks without one. And no garden. It’s hard. I can’t imagine how little families are coping. Surely the government will let us out next weekend? I wouldn’t imagine bars and restaurants will be allowed to open (I’d be too scared to go in anyway!). Maybe schools?

Yesterday I put on my pumps and had a ‘walk’ along the landing for 30 minutes. Here is a photo from our front door to the end of the landing, out and walk in a circle in front of the lifts and back to my door = 80 steps. At least it’s in the fresh air. Look at the white clouds we keep having! Creedence Clearwater Revival on my iPod gave me great beats to keep my BRISK walk going!

Thank you for all your kindnesses yesterday during my wobble. Grammaretto as I was falling asleep I recalled the words from your daughter viral overload and it helped enormously.

Sorry for wittering on here this morning! You can tell I’m feeling better.
?

Hope Friday is good to us all. Gillybobs too. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Greyduster Fri 17-Apr-20 09:04:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A dull start for South Yorkshire but the sun is trying to break through I think. We both had a bit of a restless night for one reason or another, so feel a bit washed out today. We will have a walk today, if only ‘around the lump’. aggie I have the same problem with some of the seeds I planted - I’ve had them a while and sowed them more in hope than expectation!! Have a good safe day, folks.

Urmstongran Fri 17-Apr-20 09:13:26

The photo won’t send as the WiFi signal isn’t strong enough. Maybe later?

Also, sorry to hear you’re in pain today Marydoll with a flare. I hope the planned baking chases the aches and pains away.

And you took quite a wallop there Scentia by the sounds of it. Rest up as you say.

dragonfly good advice to ask the vet for help before the weekend? That situation sounds stressful in itself for you.

Oh ‘eck it’s raining again. What weird weather for Spain.

Susan56 Fri 17-Apr-20 09:16:03

Good morning from the Shropshire borders. Not as warm today.
DH plans to mow the front lawn and then he will wash the car while I mow the back.
Urmston, glad you are feeling better today.
Mary, good to hear about your son,Henry had a bad reaction yesterday lunchtime but his medicine sorted it thank goodness. It seems like it’s going to be one step forward and two steps back at the moment.
Grandmafrench, can I join the mailing list for the postal banoffee pie!
Dragonfly, hope you can get some advice about how to manage the dogs medication and hope you have a better day.
Gilly, been thinking about you and hope you are ok.x

Nannytopsy Fri 17-Apr-20 09:26:13

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
It’s sunny with some fluffy clouds now in Suffolk. We had our trip out yesterday to collect our shopping and it is amazing to see how much Spring has advanced. I hope to set up our new water butt this morning before the rain arrives this evening.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Feelingmyage55 Fri 17-Apr-20 09:32:36

Good morning from 5 degrees in the north of Scotland. My seeds have arrived so I will sow (why not sew???) them today and cover them overnight to prevent them being chilled. more people came out to clap last night and I spoke to my immediate neighbour for the first time in a month. Her children too who seem to have grown like weeds. I hear them outside playing all the time which lifts my spirits. Off to look at the maths problem.

Auntieflo Fri 17-Apr-20 09:33:45

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all. It's beginning to brighten up a bit here now. Think we must have had a shower of rain earlier, my garden chair cushions were damp.
I knew I should have washed the bedding yesterday, but still I'll do it a bit later, and ?that it doesn't rain while it is out.
I had a couple of hours, with a break for coffee inbetween, weeding the front brick drive. Why do the Verbena bonariensis, root there, and not actually in the garden soil?
When I woke up this morning I had a horrible thought that the slugs had got my very little sunflower seedling, as I hadn't covered it up. But, relief, it was OK.
We have a plant coming up, again where it shouldn't, and I think it might be a hydrangea, but the little flowers are yellow? Can you get yellow hydrangeas? If so, I have no idea where it came from. Courtesy of the birds I expect.
DH has had toothache for a few days, and our lovely dentist delivered some antibiotics yesterday afternoon. What service!
Lovely clapping last night, and our neighbours little lad has now broken three wooden spoons in his excitement.
Wishing all who are unwell or struggling, all the very best, and hoping to hear from Gillybob today that she is OK.
Take care and stay safe one and all.

EllanVannin Fri 17-Apr-20 09:39:03

Good Morning All x No interruptions this morning !
Sunny, but there's a cooler breeze, so jumper on today smile

I'll remain very wary after easing lock-down and will still be as paranoid as ever grin
BlueSapphire, I've had a couple of those" feeling sick " days and they're not nice but I tell myself to pull myself together, hard as it is.

Dragonfly, the poorly dog has worried me now as I know how I'd feel. I hope things get sorted for you soon. x

Need some more new pots/ veg for the weekend and a piece of meat for Sunday. I should worry, just reading that the government have supplied the vulnerable of Merseyside beans, Kit-Kats and juice !! To feed 6,500. Heartbreaking or what ? I so wish there was a stronger leader in this area. This is supposed to feed many of those who are shielded !
That's upset me now for the day sad

Anyway, hope everyone's staying well under these circumstances, just carry on carrying on.Stay safe xx

moggie Fri 17-Apr-20 09:47:32

Good morning Mick & all from sunny Nottingham.
I got a bag of flour when shopping y’day, will do some baking at the weekend.
Our 38th wedding anniversary today, will have steak & glass of fizz this evening.
Zumba gold at 10 am today & gardening later.
Sorry to hear your RA has flared up Marydoll
Hope you’re ok Gillybob.
Take care all & have a good day.

Scentia Fri 17-Apr-20 09:50:43

Happy Anniversary moggie????

Mapleleaf Fri 17-Apr-20 10:03:41

Good morning all,

The sun has broken through in South Yorkshire now, and more blue sky is visible. However, there’s a cool breeze. Got some washing on the go, so at least it should be a good drying day.

Most of the neighbours in the cul de sac came out at 8 pm to clap and cheer. Some further along hooted their car horns and one firework was set off. Quite a good turnout.

Isn’t Captain Tom amazing? He’s surely an inspiration to us all.

Your leg sounds sore, Scentia. Here’s hoping after a rest it will feel easier.

Not sure if that’s a hydrangea Auntiflo, it’s a bit early for them to flower. Someone might be along soon with an identification.

Take care everyone. ?

EllanVannin Fri 17-Apr-20 10:06:57

Yes, where is our Gillybob ? I'm sure I didn't see her yesterday.
Hope things are alright with her and family x Things were already a battle before this lot started. What a time of it.

dragonfly46 Fri 17-Apr-20 10:07:30

Just an update on Dexter - he is much calmer this morning and let me wipe his eye first then will protest let me put a drop in it. Such a relief. Thank you for all your kind wishes.
