Good morning from an overcast Colchester. Another scorchio day. I slept ok but DH decamped to the spare room declaring it too hot in here! It seems our heat tolerance has changed with age as that used to be my catchphrase.
Will need a trip to the supermarket as I'd forgotten how much DS eats and he's home for a month.
Have a wonderful day Marydoll ?

Good morning Michael and all GNs from an overcast Cornwall. Had a lovely beach day yesterday. Plenty of space at our end. Not sure what we’re doing today but I have a feeling there will be walking involved somewhere! And maybe crabbing..... Have a good day folks.

Blackburn is warm but still mostly overcast. Off to take 24 books to a 90 year old later this morning. I do this every month. Then off to have my ears stringed and then make an appointment at Specsavers for a hearing test. Then off to Morrison's to buy some plants that I saw the other day - I can only do this when I use my car as can't fit many plants on my wheelchair! Home then and put plants in some hanging baskets and pots. Although we're had a lot of rain here the plants under the races don't get set so I have to water them and if my depression is bad, that doesn't happen so some plants have died so am trying to get a grip again and get my small garden looking good again.
Have a lovely day everybody.

Eaves not races!

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

Oh Marydoll that’s some surprise to share! I hope the ceremony goes well. I’m sure the bride will be radiant whatever she wears. It’s a shame about your eldest son’s decision but I know you will bury your heartache and smile.

I went to the hair salon yesterday at 5pm and came out at 8pm! My hair takes ages to grab blonde highlights. At the door (strict appointments with only 3 clients at a time) I had to wipe my feet on a rubber mat that had just been sprayed with disinfectant, I had my temperature taken (I thought gosh it’s hot out there and I’ve walked here!), got squirted with hand sanitizer and given a plastic box to put my bag in and carried that to my area. Masks worn by everyone for the duration and when I went to the sink to have my hair shampooed I noticed a huge Perspex screen had been installed between the two chairs at the sinks!

My hair looks so good it’ll be a shame to wet it in the swimming pool so I’ll just dip in and out of it this weekend ha!

Hope Saturday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning from a quiet sunny Suffolk coast. It was so hot yesterday, which is unusual for here. We did have a slight breeze, and watched the families on the beach from our garden, under the parasol. Lots of paddle boarders out on the water . The sea was so calm, again unusual for here, but perfect for safe swimming , canoeists and paddle boarders. It looked surreal as they wafted up and down . The scene could have been from anywhere in the world.

Marydoll have a wonderful day with your lovely DD and SIL. I’m sure you will look the ‘bees knees ‘ in one of your outfits. Put all your worries behind you and just enjoy this day. ♥️

We walked little pooch in the forest yesterday, where it was cooler, so might do the same today. Can’t be bothered to do much else in this heat. It wipes me out and exhausts me. Can’t settle to anything for long and there are always jobs to be done. Never mind, we’ll think of this in the winter while I’m sitting beside my wood burner, listening to the wind and wild sea outside. ??. I do love our changing seasons. ☀️?☔️?❄️

Im Just rambling on, sorry gransnetters. Have a good day all. ?

NannyJan53 Sat 08-Aug-20 08:23:50

Good morning from a very hot and sticky Black Country. Did the ironing at 7.30am yesterday before it became too hot.

So hot yesterday, so went for a walk along the Staffordshire Railway walk as it it all in the shade. It was so pleasant. Had a BBQ in the evening and we were sitting outside until after 10pm and it was still very warm.

I hope the wedding goes well Marydoll and your DD has a long and happy marriage. It is such a shame that everyone cannot be there though, but I am sure it will be a lovely day for you all.

I really need to pluck up courage to have my hair cut and highlighted Urmston, I keep saying to myself next month!

Hope MrKitty had a lovely birthday Kitty

Wishing everyone a good weekend

Have a lovely day Marydoll, and best wishes to the happy couple. We are home again after a few days in the Cotswolds. I'm glad that we didn't have the high temperatures while we were away. We saw lovely gardens at Hidcote and Snowshill Manor and wandered around the pretty Cotswold towns, and bought a lovely small military chest which ideal as a coffee table in our sitting room. The

Good Morning from Durham -not a cloud in the sky. Yesterday was very warm, overcast and muggy here - not good. Highlight of the day was a trip to Virgin to complete a 12 month savings thingy. The excitement of it!!

So sorry to hear Marydoll’s sadness, despite her looking forward to this ‘special’ day. Bittersweet indeed.

Isn’t it strange how some people sail through life with barely a hitch, while others seem to lurch from one crisis to another? Recently, if I get a year without some sort of ‘disaster’ I start worrying what might be next on the cards. DD1 says ‘fear the worst and then it might be a pleasant surprise’.

Hope everyone has the best day they can.

grannysyb Sat 08-Aug-20 08:33:56

Carrying on! The leek plants have arrived and need to go in today, not looking forward to being on the allotment in this heat. Have a good day everyone.

I’m not a regular on the Good Morning thread, but am so pleased to have looked in just in time to see the wonderful Marydoll’s surprise news!

I’m wishing you and your family all you wish yourselves today and for the future, Marydoll. May the sun shine down on you and the bubbles flow. sunshine God bless. thanks

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a sunny start to Saturday. It turned into a warm day yesterday but no sun and black clouds threatening to break all day. We reached around 22 degrees here on the coast .

A bit of food shopping planned for today as we literally have nothing in the house to make a meal out of . I had planned a shop yesterday straight from work but ended up having little Evie until almost 8pm . She’s just an absolute joy and so very clever for 2 years and 3 months smile

I read your post with a huge smile on my face Marydoll until I got to the part that said your DS and little granddaughter won’t be attending . I am so sorry. Might there be a chance of a last minute change of heart? I do hope so as I know how much joy she brings into your life . I can picture your garden and how it will look and I’m sure your DD will have the most wonderful and extra special wedding day......come on how many brides in the U.K. get to marry in their parents garden? Not that many I would guess. I will be thinking of you all today . ? ? ? ?

To Grammaretto I’m so sorry that I missed that your DH was in hospital and has had emergency surgery .I’ve been so wrapped up in myself and my own DH for the last few days (well months) . By the time I caught up with the thread yesterday it seemed too late to post anything else. Please forgive me. I do hope he’s recovering well when you see him today . flowers

Thinking of our missing friends especially BlueSapphire, dragonfly and those feeling poorly or under the weather especially CherryCezzy .

Hope we all have the best Saturday possible . Love Gillybob xx

Good Morning Mick and all from an overcast S Welsh coast.
Enjoy the cycling Mick.
Wishing your DD and new SIL a long and happy life together Marydoll. Sorry to hear that your son and granddaughter won't be there though.
Nothing planned for us today which is just fine. Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

harrigran Sat 08-Aug-20 08:52:20

Good morning from the NE where we have some brightness in the sky.
Yesterday was a big disappointment, we did get some warmth but there was thick cloud and sun only appeared in time for sunset. We did sit on the terrace and read so got some air.
Many congratulations to the happy couple today, so pleased it is going ahead Marydoll
Nothing planned for today, will just see what unfolds.
Take care if you are in holiday crowds.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

I’m another one that reads this thread although doesn’t often post but wanted to wish you a lovely day Marydoll. I think a garden wedding sounds wonderful especially in the present circumstances. I hope things aren’t too sad if your son decides to stay away. x

Nortsat Sat 08-Aug-20 09:07:10

Good morning Mick and the GM team.

We had a nice evening, eating our supper in the garden. I went out to set the garden table about 7.15pm and hesitated because the kitchen felt much cooler than the garden, despite the fact that the sun had moved away.
However, the air soon cleared and it was really pleasant to be out there. We lingered, with a glass of wine ...

We’ll have something easy for supper tonight.

Here’s wishing the Mother of the Bride and the whole family a lovely, happy day.
Grammaretto hoping MrG is comfortable and making good progress.
Hello to Bluesapphire, Dragonfly and Cherry, ?to those who need them. Have a good day, all. ?

Good morning all from a warm and sunny mid-Notts. I'm not sure what today will hold for us. DD1 and DGD might pay us a visit and Mr BA is going down for a play in his workshop. Marydoll what lovely news!! Hope you have a perfect day. Hope everyone else has the best day possible and please stay safe x

Sending good wishes for the happiness that is happening in the Marydoll garden today. ?

Blue sky and sunshine trying to break through the clouds here in Letchworth Garden Cty. I plan an easy day today. Pottering this morning and having a go at making GN receipe for lemonade scones, as my dearest sister round this afternoon to sit in our garden. She lives in a flat and loves to spend the afternoon round here. We do some knitting and , have a catch up and put the world to rights. I love it. smile

Auntieflo Sat 08-Aug-20 09:37:35

To Marydoll, I send the very best of good wishes for your daughter, and all of your family on this special day.
Hoping you have the happiest of times, and that your son does come and bring your wee granddaughter.
