Good Morning Everyone ,
Its dark still here in Brackley , paths are wet so a weather change on the way.
Today, small shop locally I am in and out of the Supermarket, before 8 with 0730 opening.
Quite day in as I build up to the World Cycling Road Race and time trials over next 4 days , would have been a full week of racing this year in Switzerland , but governing body switched to Italy and imola as the Swiss did not want crowds as they are trying to control the epidemic .
Take Care ,
Mick

Raining here this morning. We need it for the garden so don mind. Just dont like the grey darkness to the start of the day. Rang my GP surgery for a telephone consultation with my registered GP and that can not happen till next Weds!!!! Off to do some shopping this morning and hoping the queues wont be too bad as i heard from my neighbour that our local supermarkets are starting to reduce the amount of people they are allowing in again.

Good morning all.
A very regular reader but a very irregular poster.
I was spurred on this morning by reading the post from Beauregard.
You stirred some lovely memories for me this morning.
We obviously hail from the same area.

I went to Heanor Grammar school and our first house when were married was just off Derby Road going towards Smalley.

My Mother lived in the area until her death in 2006 and although we had been living in Stockport many years by then, we visited her weekly and used to take her regularly to Shipley Country Park, pushing her in a wheelchair, it wasn’t easy!!

Thank you for reviving such happy memories of the area for me.

Good Morning everyone. Lovely morning here ??? and we’re off in the kayak for a bit of exercise before it’s too warm for paddling - or pedalling, in our case. ? will be taken in case there are mackerel (‘Gone Fishing’ has affected us, I think.)

Shame about the shop til you drop plan, Mary. The idea is always a good one until there are others....and often so many of them. Then, like you, I want to be somewhere else.

Hope you all get a shower or 3 for the garden, but not enough to make everyone think the sun, the wonderful Autumn colours and the glorious countryside are now off limits for trips out. Not for a good while yet, hopefully.

So pleased for you and Hattie, Maw. Really well done for marching into the Hospital yesterday, Georgesgran. Admin - what does that even mean? Do they think we’re all psychic or maybe sitting inside the front door with our coats on? Hoping the results will be better for him. Sark don’t let that Clinic drag their feet over your DD’s appointment ?

GrannyG Your brekkies must be every little schoolboy’s dream.?

Have yourselves a good day, people and remember not to let that Boris bring you down!!!! Wishing hard for all of those with struggles or pain that it will all be o.k. - and soon.

And Ellan let’s hear from you, post crumpet, that all is well on Merseyside, please?

Hugs, as always, from French France

Good morning from a beautiful sunny S Lanarkshire, how nice to type that. Sitting up in bed I am looking at tall green trees, just beginning to be on the turn and framed by clear blue sky. Thanks to everyone who wished me a good day for my seaside outing. It was a great success and I feel quite 'reconnected'. I hope I can keep the 'sound picture' of the sea lapping the shore in my mind, it made me really happy.
As ever, good wishes and thoughts to everyone, especially those who need them most

Good morning from rainy Shropshire.

We had a lovely day in Staffordshire yesterday looking after DGS.We stopped for fish and chips on the way home which were blooming lovely?

A quiet day planned today.A few jobs around the house and then wrapping presents and writing cards for all the family birthdays over the next few weeks. They all come at once!

Good news about Hattie and Gingsters pup??

Thinking of gilly?

Have a good day all and thinking of all our missing posters.

Good morning All from a calm, autumn morning in Polmont. It rained a little last night but it looks lovely out there. I am going to pick up an order from M&S later this morning. I bought some clothes with a birthday voucher and I'll go get them in a while. No visiting mum as we're not allowed in other households any more. I don't think she'll be bothered! Then this afternoon I have my first haircut for eight months! I don't have much and it doesn't grow quickly but it is a sight. I look like a bag lady. That's all I have planned today. I hope everyone has a good day and EllanVannin takes heart from all her supporters.

Don’t think the new normal will make a lot of difference to our lives but it’s depressing even though unsurprising. Dismal morning, doing what DS when small called mizzling - a mix of mist and drizzling. Doubt if this afternoon’s garden get together will happen, which is disappointing and is an indicator of what the future will like.

DH’s sore throat has turned into a cold but survival looks probable though he is in no rush to get up. So not sure what to do today though perhaps a DVD this afternoon would be good.

Come back Ellan, we need you!

Beauregard Wed 23-Sep-20 08:44:40

annsixty I was born in Heanor and went to Heanor Grammar School too - early seventies. I was in the last but one year before it closed as a grammar school.

My mother lived on the edge of Shipley Park and I remember taking her out in her wheelchair too. The paths were so stony and precarious my husband almost tipped her out!!

Small world!

Morning all from South Notts where it is murky and at last we have some rain which is much needed.

Yesterday my sister visited for the first time in around three months so it was nice to have a catch up.

I need to prat about on the laptop as I took part in a survey on this covid lark and as I predicted I'm having trouble with the evoucher reward. On a brighter note I've won £5.00 on the lotto!

Hope today is good for everyone, especially those with worries or illness. Keep on keeping on, Hattie and Maw.

Taichinan Wed 23-Sep-20 08:54:05

Good morning Mick and all. Blue skies and sunshine over the Angus coast, but it's cold. As long as the sun shines, I'm a happy bunny - it's going to be a long winter. What a lovely picture you paint of your DH and his young menfolk Nankate. A perfect evening to remember for them. Glad you had your day of freedom Marydoll. Things are so hard for the shielders among us. I shall have to phone our little art group and remind them not to come to me tomorrow, and it's certainly too cold now to sit in the garden! But we could meet up in a cafe. And I'm so glad I had that treasured time with DGD3 this past weekend - no more of that for the foreseeable. However DD and I are meeting up for lunch for my birthday next Tuesday at a farmshop near Perth. It seems odd that we can do that and yet not visit each other's homes. There's also nothing to say we can't hold our (socially distanced and complying with Covid guidelines) tai chi classes so really, for me, it's Covid life as normal in this quiet little part of the country. Long may it last. Have a good day everyone and stay safe. ???

GrannyOwl5 Wed 23-Sep-20 09:03:11

Good morning everybody from a wet and dismal North Yorkshire on day four of our holiday.
Lovely day at RHS Harlow Carr yesterday; not too busy and nearly everyone was observing covid rules. Beautiful gardens with the Dahlias in particular a spectacular show; have ordered some for planting in my garden next year.
Plan to go to Ilkley today; DH comes from near there and we frequently go back so he can reminisce at the Cow and Calf rocks. I usually nod and murmur at varying intervals whilst daintily licking an ice cream! Perhaps not today though.
Thoughts with those suffering worries or illnesses; hope you all have as good a day as possible. Remember the motto - one day at a time!

Anniebach Wed 23-Sep-20 09:04:50

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Auntieflo Wed 23-Sep-20 09:14:01

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. We have had some rain here, the pavements are damp, and the garden is very grateful.
I am supposed to be meeting a friend for coffee later on, and we were going to sit outside. Plans may have to be changed.
EllanVannin, I seem to have missed all the unpleasantness that upset you, so I do hope that you are feeling OK . You will come back and post again on this thread, won't you?, as I am another who enjoyed your musings.
Especially about the crumpets ? always made me want some.
Maw, glad to hear that at the moment, Hattie is recovering.
Still keeping Gillybob, on my mind and close to my heart.
To all others who are under the weather, or not feeling strong, take care.
Have a good day one and all.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 23-Sep-20 09:29:49

I treated myself to some flowers and would like to share with all my Goodmorning friends with ills or troubles.

We can do this and come through the other side, hunker down for the winter, spring will arrive before we know it ?‍♀️

Greyduster Wed 23-Sep-20 09:35:49

A late good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. We had rain during the night a more set to fall by the look of it. Yesterday’s walk in the warm sun was a treat, but today the house is crying out for a clean, and it’s my turn to do the conservatory windows☹️. Meat and potato pie for dinner. Have a good safe day folks.

Grammaretto Wed 23-Sep-20 09:54:07

Thanks for the Suffolk sky Gingster! ours here in the Scottish Borders looks lovely and bright but it may be freezing outside.

Thank you for the flowers GrannyGravy I agree with your sentiments entirely.

So glad Hattie is home and probably doesn't have anything too serious Maw

We have a new even harder lockdown to cope with in Scotland. I am worried how my in-laws will manage if their daily helps can no longer come and we are shielded so can't help them. No visiting inside another house and no sharing a car with another household.
It's tough!
For those waiting for scan results or treatment of any kind, you have my best wishes.
Here's a ((hug)) for Gillybob too

Mapleleaf Wed 23-Sep-20 10:05:31

Good morning all,

Greyduster has our weather forecast to a 'T'. Such a contrast to yesterday, but it was forecast so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, and it's good for the gardens. I ventured outdoors briefly and it didn't feel too chilly, but, of course, damp.

I've got some ironing to do today, but beyond that, after preparing a stew for the slow pot, I'm not sure what I'll be doing. I might make another batch of tomato chutney as I gathered a lot of tomatoes yesterday.

I hope you all have the best day possible. Take care, whatever you are doing. I'll keep a look out for your post, Ellen.

Mapleleaf Wed 23-Sep-20 10:06:47

P.S. Forgot to say that I'm pleased Hattie is home, and I hope the vet rings today with helpful advice for going forward.

Kalu Wed 23-Sep-20 10:11:56

Good morning all from another sunny day in Glasgow. If only we could have this weather for maybe another couple of months it would be a huge help for all to get through the months ahead.

I had an outing to Waitrose Marydoll and thought I was being risqué until I read where you got too. Ooft, you have lost the plot Mrs. not one for doing things in small measures, love it ? I did go further afield to the car wash across from Sainsbury’s, woohoo, then drove back through your town.

So relieved for you Maw and of course Hattie, that nothing sinister going on. Huge hugs for your lovely girl.

I have missed what is going on with you EV so will read yesterday’s thread and return. ?

I bought some magenta coloured cyclamen yesterday and will plant them in two baskets I have hanging from a tree which I can enjoy seeing from the kitchen window. Every little helps to keep me cheerful.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and thoughts of hope to our friends with struggles.

EllanVannin Wed 23-Sep-20 10:16:09

Good Morning All x
How can I not post seeing all the superb support ? Thank you All so much.

Rain ! A heavy sky and more to come, but we've done well overall I suppose and can't expect miracles at this stage although a dry bright Autumn would have been preferable.

A relief to learn that nothing nasty was going on with Hattie, Maw. She'll soon pick up. D's dog has got a bare behind after his op. the other week and half a shaved tail making him look like a lion or/ and a Baboon grin

After forgetting my password for Ocado, I found it online so will make a list of what I want ( on paper ) before submitting for delivery whenever it'll be. I thought I'd better get cracking with online deliveries before things get hectic later on.

Flu jab in the morning at 9am so an early dart, also INR at the same time so hope all's well there, it should be.
I want to arrange for D to have her jab too because of her work and also with her having the children. It'll hopefully give some protection.

It's a worry that D still has to travel up to Durham to see Ruby-Lou but has decided to stick with the car instead of going by train. The child looks forward to visits at weekends.
I just hope we don't have a rough winter---ice/snow.

Not much on the agenda today, a bit of tidying up and that's that. Saus., bacon, egg tomatoes and fried bread today. Can't you tell I'm using things up ? grin Tasty though.

I haven't yet looked to see what the virus is doing in my little corner of the map. I know one thing though, it's eerily quiet. It's not a noisy area at the best of times but it seems so silent with not a soul about.

I've just got two thick puzzle books and a pen by post. I didn't send for them and it has Magsdirect on the plastic bag. Ah well it'll keep me out of mischief for an hour or two.grin Is this actually something for nothing I ask myself ?

Hope everyone remains well and stay safe whatever you do.
Always thoughts to those who aren't so grand xx flowers
We'll all have to " struggle " a bit more so it would seem but we're all in it together and will support each other here.xx

Grandmabatty Wed 23-Sep-20 10:21:06

Popping back to say, glad to see you EllanVannin enjoy the puzzles. Someone has maybe sent you a wee treat.

Beauregard Wed 23-Sep-20 10:23:28

Good for you Ellan. It's raining but the day is already brighter. flowers

Urmstongran Wed 23-Sep-20 10:23:31

Hiya EV ? ?

EllanVannin Wed 23-Sep-20 10:28:00

Forgot to say that it's nice to think I live near relatives of both Sar and Mellowyellow. I'm quite close to the prom.
Also a couple of roads away from one of our gransnetters, who is a friend too who I've known for a number of years.

EllanVannin Wed 23-Sep-20 10:29:27

Aw, ladies, you're too kind.
