Watching repeats of the great British sewing bee(even though I don’t sew). They made a blouse with a pussy bow tie. I realised I’d never ever wear one. What would you never wear ?

dragonfly46 Tue 20-Oct-20 10:32:05

Crimplene!

JenniferEccles Tue 20-Oct-20 10:32:13

Leggings, jeggings, ripped jeans, crocs, thigh high boots, anything loose and bulky which swamps me. Mini skirts and cropped tops.

JenniferEccles Tue 20-Oct-20 10:33:38

Oh yes and those silly jumpers which hang off one shoulder!

FannyCornforth Tue 20-Oct-20 10:34:25

Perhaps we need a complete outfit.
So far it would consist of a pink, leopard print bikini; a zip up fleece with a wolf howling at the moon on the back; and a pair of crocs.

Ah, good points Lucca, you've clearly given this much thought...

Yes it’s called displacement therapy I think

Lucca Tue 20-Oct-20 10:36:22

A head square knitted under the chin to top it off?

Granny23 Tue 20-Oct-20 10:36:43

I don't want to be seen dead in a cemetery. no matter what I am wearing.

Lucca Tue 20-Oct-20 10:36:49

Knitted ??? Knotted.

PECS Tue 20-Oct-20 10:36:54

Thong knickers!

M0nica Tue 20-Oct-20 10:38:35

I am always wary about saying I will never do/wear/buy anything because there is always that one circumstance when I do. But things I think I am highly unlikely to wear

Wide leg trousers, I get entangled in them and trip up
Black leather
Age appropriate clothes

CherryCezzy Tue 20-Oct-20 10:39:49

Thanks for starting this thread Lucca I was thinking about this very thing yesterday ☺️

Most of what Teetime said, especially anything orange or yellow - I just look sallow.
Culottes or wide leg trousers, I'm too short!
Puff sleeves.
Boob tubes.
Fur.
Pointy toed shoes or boots.
False eyelashes.

I could go on.... ?

Lucca Tue 20-Oct-20 10:40:35

What though are age appropriate clothes ?

Grandma70s Tue 20-Oct-20 10:46:17

Jeans - I didn’t wear them even when I was young - or anything else denim. Why would I dress like an American artisan? High heels, unbelievably silly in my view. Whoever thought them up? At my age I wouldn’t wear anything sleeveless, though I did when young.

Ageing flesh is not a pretty sight. Keep it covered.

My SiL says that Crocs are contraceptive devices!!

CherryCezzy Tue 20-Oct-20 10:53:14

Oh yes dragonfly that's definitely a no no!

Kate1949 Tue 20-Oct-20 10:55:26

Culottes
I'm 71 and I practically live in jeans!

Jane10 Tue 20-Oct-20 10:56:00

Ooh yes fur. Definite nono from me! angry

Chewbacca Tue 20-Oct-20 10:56:57

Lucca

Nearly forgot....those fleeces with “scenes” on....howling wolves etc

This x 1000! I've never seen one that didn't look awful and I've never seen any one wearing one that looked good in it. Hideous things.

But crocs are brilliant for gardening in!

M0nica Tue 20-Oct-20 10:57:01

Lucca the clothes people think are appropriate for people of a particular age, especially older women. You see the adverts in the weekend newspapers and colour supplements.

A frind wears them, and looks very suitably dressed, She recommended this company to me. www.countrycollection.co.uk/ladies . Age approriate clothes of a style I would not be seen dead in.

Chewbacca Tue 20-Oct-20 11:03:16

Cold shoulder tops
Fur: fake or real
Any animal print
Anything in crimplene, especially with an elasticated waist
Trousers that have a front crease stitched in place
Plastic or any man-made material shoes (apart from my gardening crocs)
Anything with a frill, bow or lacey bits
Anything with puffed sleeves or a vellum
Anything with a plunge neckline

There could be more......?

Chewbacca Tue 20-Oct-20 11:03:45

Vellum? PEPLUM

Oopsadaisy4 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:06:19

Anything that’s ‘elasticated for your comfort’ ......shudder.....

Boob tube

Anything with a pattern on it.

Anything beige.

Crocs are for gardening only

MONICA. That link .....??.

NotTooOld Tue 20-Oct-20 11:12:39

Anything too tight. I decided that whilst in lockdown.
Incidentally, Crocs are very handy for nipping out to the clothes line or the bins!
