Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey wet start here in Brackley ,but there is a sign of brightness in the sky.
Today , usual shop and do my own Fish & Chips in the oven , before a nap and watch cycling on TV, GB hopes look good in Spain .
Did some shredding yesterday , having stockpiled things , the shredder got hot, so staggered the shredding , maybe a new one next week .

Talking of Next week , local travel is allowed so will officially go to my usual haunts hopefully and catch up with people I know on the bus journeys .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, Mick and Everyone from a dark, wet and windy Cumbrian coast. It's a very busy day for me with various organising/info seeking phone calls to make before driving up to Carlisle to go over my new house at last. I cannot wait to move, only 3 weeks to go. Yesterday, I discovered I had to thoroughly clean the property here and have the carpets and curtains professionally cleaned. Well, it can't be done before I move out as all the bedroom floors are covered, either by a bed or by a multitude of boxes--they're very small bedrooms. I'm hoping I don't have to drive back down from Carlisle once I've moved out. Something I have to sort out with the local agents. The place will probably be cleaner when I move out than when I moved in. Deep cleaning seemed not to apply to the landlord (I was the first ever tenant) and there was a bit of cupboard etc wiping out I had to do before putting my stuff in. I don't want to wish my life away but I will be very glad when the next month has passed.
The best day possible to you all.

Good morning from central scotland where it is damp and miserable, thankfully I'm not as miserable today as I have been
Looking forward to putting clocks forward an hour tomorrow night and hopefully weather will improve. No able to do much in garden today so I will do an online shop and then maybe carry on researching my family tree, something which is easy enough to stop and start although I can get so engrossed in it I lose track of the time

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is raining. This is advantageous for the ‘grass’ wink at the back of the house which has been scarified to within an inch of its life...At the front I mistakenly planted crocuses in the turf to complement the daffs in the borders. (The crocuses are probably not visible in the pix.) What I hadn’t considered is the need of others to stand in this space when maintaining social distance at the front door. It’s time for a rethink for me.
Apologies as I haven’t read the posts above. No doubt I’ll make a reappearance.
Have the best day you can.
????

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun is trying to shine and it's quite windy.
I'm sorry to hear your news Dragonfly and my thoughts are with the lady with the poorly dog.
Nothing to report here so I will wish you all a pleasant day and hope you find your ? xx

Good morning from Cheshire. Not read any posts yet - saving for later. Raining here but not going anywhere so not a big deal for me.
Don't forget to put your clocks forward this weekend. You wouldn't to be confused about the time grin
I still haven't worked out how to adjust my car clock so I don't bother. It will be right for half the year.
Hope Friday is hopeful for all.

Grandmajean Fri 26-Mar-21 08:29:42

Wouldn't want to be confused !

Fantastic Flamingo Friday ??? to you all. Good morning everyone from a soon to be sunny, warm ?? South, where rueful smiles start the day. My DH and I have had a very productive week, work wise. Well, he certainly has. Pool walls have been tiled, pool floor to be started. I’ve treated bathroom grouting to a posh new clean, plants have been shifted, pots cleaned, sweeping, washing, vacuuming, even Chlöe the dog joined the big cheery up brigade yesterday, with a smart makeover courtesy of our mobile grooming lady! Not a minute for feeling down in the dumps. Today, however, on rising from our bed, we compared injuries : DH has a swollen knee (no surprise there), I can’t move my left shoulder due to mixing 12kgs of glue - with a heavy electric mixing thingy. He’s cut a finger, I’ve bruised a leg and yesterday we’ve been assaulted by mosquitoes - even though covered in repellent!!! Old age definitely ain’t for sissies ! It’s almost nothing, of course. We’re not ill - just a bit miffed that for every burst of hard work, we’re punished with injury time! Still, onwards and upwards ( but very much slower and more gingerly today, I think). And the weather forecast is brilliant. And I promised to paint the outside pool wall. Gravelling a new area will be a breeze (?) after all of this. I’ve done that before - but I just might need to pay for a full body transplant before too long. If I ever manage sit down to sew again, it may be that I’ll be stuck in my seat forever.

Today, I shall try to weed and feed the lawn. Takes no time and I must do it before the weather gets too hot. The garden then ‘hums’ like a cowshed until I water it in, but it works so well that I try hard to ignore the initial bad smell and concentrate on how nice it will look in a week or so.

Not speaking about Covid until at least next week. The delays, the lies, the battles, the politics - it’s a wonder the world’s surviving. So bad for morale, we’ve had quite enough of ‘news’.

Interesting photos, Ash. I always really fancy a long walk on downland,. For us, the Sussex Downs were so beautiful. At the moment if DH and I joined together we’d possibly have some limited success in a 3-legged race - but only if our fellow competitors were Long John Silver and Quasimodo. ? Downland walks may need to be put on hold until all parts are fully operational again ?.

I must stop whining....so many of you have constant pain to cope with, big worries and sadness. May your day be a decent one with some sunny patches today - and something to make you smile.

Thinking especially of dragonfly, dear Maw and the lovely Hattie?, and wishing little Louis an uncomplicated full recovery. Take good care of yourselves today and always, dear GMers and to all those who aren’t posting....missing you and your daily doings.

Stay safe, please ?‍♀️?

Good morning from a drizzly, windy Wiltshire. How lovely Scentia to be planning a trip to West Midlands Safari Park - that was one of our favourite places to visit when I lived in Gloucester when the children were little. Hopefully I’ll be able to go with the grandchildren sometime this year. Ekwa - my teenage years were spent living in a village just outside Carlisle and I went to Trinity Secondary School. I hope you’ll be very happy in your new home - how exciting!
Pinchy had her splints changed yesterday. I’m very happy how her legs are straightening out but I’m still concerned about her worst ankle joint. Although the foot is straighter and now pointing in the right direction her ankle still bends forwards to 90 degrees when not splinted so she’s not walking on her hoof. There may be a fundamental problem with the tendons and ligaments that can’t be sorted by splinting. I’ll keep going for now and see how it goes and she’s a very happy little soul and not in any discomfort in her splints.
Exciting plans for today ..... we’re collecting our new bull and 3 new cows this afternoon! My favourite kind of shopping! Pictures of the new members of the family in tomorrow’s post no doubt! Wishing you all a happy Friday

Good morning from a sunny Northampton (just up the road from Mick in Brackley), but showers are forecast for the rest of the day. Glad I did the front grass yesterday morning, as we had a really heavy shower in the afternoon.

Nothing really planned for today - it will just be the usual stuff. I will try to get to grips with my knitting having spent yesterday afternoon unpicking what I had done the day before.

Curry for dinner tonight as usual - ever since DH and I were married we have always had curry on a Friday, and I still keep up the tradition. It just wouldn't be Friday otherwise! That's 49 years of weekly curries..... I am always trying, but I still cannot replicate the taste of the delicious curries we enjoyed when living in Singapore. Although the day for curry lunch in Singapore was Sunday!

Hope we can all find a bit of ? today.

Good morning from a grey and breezy Colchester.
Walk to Aldi today. It's now a drive to Lidl since we moved, although there is talk of one being built nearby. Stocking up for the weekend as DS appeared at home yesterday for a long weekend.

DH has left to queue up at the tip for opening time. We were going to shift more soil etc in the garden today but I think the weather may put a stop to that.

Much love to all, especially dragonfly and the thin dog's Mum x

Lins1066 Fri 26-Mar-21 08:34:37

Good morning Mick and all. It is a wet start here on the S Welsh coast. Beautiful day and a walk by the sea yesterday raised the spirits.
Sorry to hear about your friend's husband dragonfly what a shock for her.
Good news about your husband's vaccine Ash.
A phone call to the butcher and some ironing to be done this morning.
Hope that Marydoll, Cherry and Aunty Flo are feeling better.
Stay safe everyone.

Greyduster Fri 26-Mar-21 08:34:43

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire! Two mornings this week I have got up from bed and had a dizzy spell. Fell against the wardrobe doors yesterday. If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was gin I was drinking through the night and not water!! We’ll probably get a walk in today up to the country park while the paths are still dry, but first I have a new plant to find a space for in the garden. A steak and mushroom sandwich and salad for tea.
dragonfly; very sad to lose a friend?
Hope everyone has a little sunshine in their day.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Mar-21 08:34:53

Sending a virtual (((hug))) to the thin dog and her owner ?

Dragonfly all you can do for dear friend is let her know you are there for her ?

We have lost the sun, rain is on its way and I have a very upset off colour 1 yr old all day (he had his inoculations yesterday) wish me luck...

Marydoll Fri 26-Mar-21 08:36:31

Good morning Mick and all! As Kalu has said, its pouring here in Glasgow, so a hameldaeme ( home will do me) day.

Great disappointment here, my empty ⛳ has been cancelled☹, DH has hurt his back (golfing) and his partner isn't feeling too good after his vaccination!
Yesterday, I cut DH's, but hadn't realised how brutal I had been, until DH's golfing partner came over to cancel the golf and I caught him staring at DH's hair or the lack of it! ? I now realise that I had a cheek to complain the other day, about my neighbour, (DIL's father) butchering my hydrangea bushes!! ?

Yesterday brought a hospital letter, stating my VitD levels were non existent (a frequent occurence) and that my calcium levels weren't far behind, which meant I couldn't have my alendronic acid infusion, which is already eighteen months late, due to my shielding. ☹ It implied that I hadn't been taking my medication and I should contact my GP.
I was due to phone the surgery next week anyway about a review of one of my heart meds, so I took the bull by the horns and braved the lions den!
Much to my surprise, I got a lovely, sympathetic receptionist who said she would get a doctor to phone back.
I could have wept with relief, when ten minutes later, my favourite GP phoned me. When I became too ill to work, he was a tower of strength and supported me with the ill health retiral process.
I explained how I had serious problems with my mouth, broke my front tooth, trying to chew the calcium tablet, due to very active Sjogren's system, (an autoimmune condition). Also he noticed how hoarse (another symptom) I was, saying he hadn't realised how unwell I was. Bypassing the system, (meds too expensive) he managed to change the meds to a drink instead and said the hospital will deal with the VitD problem.

Then we got onto my heart problems. He was horrified that I have been so unwell recently and said they were unaware difficult things are, as I hadn't told anyone.
We had a very frank discussion about my prognosis and the fact that nothing more can be done. The last option is to increase the dosage of one drug, which he has done. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to the ones which could improve my quality of life.
Although, it was a difficult conversation, I feel so much better for unburdening myself and getting my feelings out of my system, rather than boring you all on here!!!
It also prompted a conversation with Mr Ostrichhead in the sand, who has been in denial up until now. That was adifficult one. ?

As usual, when needing a diversion, I baked. I'm unsure of the finished product, Marydoll's Mars Bar cake, made with white chocolate Coco Pops. The jury is out on that one. ?
A bit too sickly for me, but my sweet toothed neighbours will love it.

Dragonfly, what a terrible shock for you and your poor friend. I pray your pain levels have reduced, Auntieflo and you have an easier day today.
Fantastic news from France, Ashcome. My GP thought he would cheer me up yesterday, by telling me I was on track to get the second dose. He soon changed his mind, when he read my severe reaction to the first dose! ? However, he did insist I have the second one.

I was humbled, overwhelmed and a little bit surprised by all the kind comments after my wobble yesterday. I now feel embarrassed!?

I plan to make salmon fish cakes today, but it's tinned salmon, so no oneupmanship here! ?
I need to get moving, Tesco delivery due today and DD is coming up to look after and put the shopping away. The real reason is that she wants to snaffle the fish cakes, her favourites. She must think I came up the River Clyde on a bike!
Have the best day possible, everyone.

Gwen, the Downs Syndrome character was described as an oddball.

And.......after all that, I totally forgot to say how lucky are you, Alygran to live near such a wonderful ‘space’. I love it when mention of some place is made on this thread and up pops a Gran who knows it well. And hollysteers hope your Birthday was a really good one ???

Gingster Fri 26-Mar-21 08:38:19

Good morning from Essex and it looks as if it will rain any moment.

Baubles my little pooch always lies right beside me and I find I’m squashed into the corner of the sofa. Awkward whilst crocheting I know! ?

Ash such positive news for your DH. Love your pics of the cruise ships. We went on the Aurora (Arcadia’s sister ship) five years ago on a world wide cruise. It took 4 months and we loved every second of it. I think, going by the tracker link you sent, she is docked near Bournemouth. ?.

DD and littlest Gd popped by after school yesterday for half an hour. We played in the garden and it was lovely to see her. The schools break up for Easter today for two weeks. They’ve only been back two minutes ?.

Dgd 1 is back from Uni next week, and we’re really looking forward to seeing her. What a disappointing start to their university experience!

Dragonfly what a terrible shock ! ? ?

Elizabeth enjoy your lunch. Sounds yummy!

Wishing you all a pleasant, gentle day, whatever you’re up to. ???

Nell8 Fri 26-Mar-21 08:42:50

Good morning from Surrey where it's cold and wet so not promising for gardening.

It's lovely to hear from Fife, Elizabeth1. I lived in Newport on Tay as a child. Can't wait to get back to the north east coast to visit family.

I hope all goes well for your DS. It's stressful waiting for a diagnosis.

The Line of Duty matter sounds controversial, but hopefully it will give publicity to the need to support people with Downs Syndrome.

Wishing everyone a good day

aggie Fri 26-Mar-21 08:49:29

Good Morning all, sun is shining and everything is sparkling from the overnight rain .
I slept in a wee bit so it was late for my tablets , I had to forego my porridge and had bread and banana for breakfast , somehow that didn’t quite hit the spot
Glad to see you have resumed your usual lovely long posts Marydoll

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Mar-21 08:50:47

Grandmafrench for you.

brook2704 Fri 26-Mar-21 09:02:05

Love it jax! ?

Grandmafrench Fri 26-Mar-21 09:07:59

Jax - how we laughed!

I called DH - who roared, but then spotted I’d failed “again” to drink my 2nd cup of tea! He wishes it to be known that in future he’s going to cut out the middle man (a.k.a. the kettle) and make my 2nd cup with cold water! Oh dear, that’s the naughty distraction of the Good Morning thread for you!

Anniebach Fri 26-Mar-21 09:10:18

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

ixion Fri 26-Mar-21 09:23:34

❤️❤️For the Thin Dog❤️❤️
?? For her Mum??

harrigran Fri 26-Mar-21 09:25:25

Good morning from a windy NE where we have had heavy showers too.
DH had a bad day yesterday and we both had a disturbed night, I decamped to the spare room with my book.
DH has had no reaction to his vaccination which I am pleased about, he has enough to contend with.
Must do some paperwork, NS&I bonds are up for renewal but I will cash them in because in real terms they are making no interest and are locking up money for three years.
One of the ovens broke yesterday, oh joy.
Thinking of you all.

Urmstongran Fri 26-Mar-21 09:31:56

Now then harrigran we’ll have none of that oneupmanship on here, thank you very much! ^ One of the ovens broke yesterday, oh joy^ indeed!!
??
Glad your husband is fine after his jab - small mercies.
