Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight out there but its dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today , another bus trip is planned to Buckingham , shop browse maybe buy items will see .
I went into my local Waitrose and asked about British New potatoes, and was told the jersey royals should be on the shelves in around 2 weeks .
Like new potatoes will steam with mint ,and eat cold as well.
Take Care,
Mick

DH has his second jab today and has been wanting to get ready since 6.00 am. Don’t think I will warn him of any plans in future, he becomes so obsessed that it drives me mad and makes me snappy. We don’t need to leave until 9.45 am but he is ready and waiting. So managing that is the main thing today, plus delivery later of his new ejector seat chair, It’s all go here!

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders where the freezing cold weather is the joke here.

I thought it was to be Voltswagen, grandMattie to reflect going over to Electric cars.
Sounds very sensible to me. Not April foolish at all.
I have always been slow at getting jokes and as for practical jokes - I never find them funny.

Your life sounds anything but dull glammagran with your DD expecting any minute.

I am a very proud DG today as my DGS's design has been chosen to adorn their local buses. I only wish DH were here to share the joy.

In Edinburgh the new enviro buses are white. No livery at all. Perhaps no advertisers are spending at present.

I am glad that your DH was out enjoying the sunshine Gagagran

Hoping everyone has a happy day.

Gingster Thu 01-Apr-21 08:30:32

Good morning all from a grey skyed Essex. Yesterday was gloriously sunny and very warm. I had a lovely dog walk with a friend and then a coffee in her garden.
I shopped for Easter as family will be popping in , - I overdid it a bit , and had trouble fitting all the shopping in cupboards, freezer and fridge. Never mind it will all disappear over the weekend.
I’ve never made hot x buns. My local small shop sells delicious ones. Soft and fluffy. They sell out almost as soon as they arrive from a local bakery.
I’m looking after littlest GD this morning, so lots of ‘doings’ are in the cards.
DH is playing golf - first time since November and he really hasn’t felt very energetic or motivated for anything, so he’ll give himself a try out and see how it goes. At least he will be with friends and have a chat. He is such an unsociable man and really wouldn’t mind playing on his own. ?, but we need to mix with others for our ‘mental health’.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.
‘Oh to be in England, now that April’s there’

Good morning from a dull day in Cheshire. Dull in more ways than one as today's highlight is the servicing of the burgler alarm ! Can't wait.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Apr-21 08:42:50

Morning Mick and all

It’s grey here up the road from Sar53 and Gingster not sure of my plans for the day?

The Aldi nearby had Jersey Pearl potato’s last weekend, they were yummy.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Marydoll Thu 01-Apr-21 08:46:24

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Glasgow, where its only 2°C. It was so cold last night that we needed the heating on.

GM, I'm sorry to hear you under the weather, hoping there is an improvement today. Ashcome, how fortunate you are to have a cardiologist who is right on the ball. Hopefully the MRI appointment will arrive soon.

I had a surprisingly pleasant day yesterday. By the time I got up, DH had already moved and replanted one of my raised veggie beds, to make way for the new decking work, despite appearing to dismiss the idea previously. I learned long ago, to plant the seed of an idea and let it germinate slowly!
He then surpassed himself by actually sweeping up, that's a first!! ?

Much to my surprise, DH agreed to make bread, (after the usual huffing and puffing) as we had run out. I sent a photo to my children, as DH is infamous for his non culinary skills. The reply I got back from DD was: WOW! I remember mum, when you were away on residential courses and dad always made us burnt square slice sausage, which was raw in the middle! ?
It has only taken forty three years to train him, my work is almost done. I blame the trainer, she has been a useless teacher. ?

In addition to that, he built my new, wooden linen box, without any prompting. It arrived when he was in the garden and I foolishly thought I could build it myself. However, after unpacking, I realised it was too heavy for me and I didn't have the dexterity to do the fiddly bits. ☹
I had gone for a lie down, coming back down to find it assembled. I have given that man a day's annual leave today, he truly deserves it. ?

The day got even better, when I received a text from a long lost cousin, my number being passed on by another close cousin. Many years ago, I was sent to stay with she and her four siblings, when my mother, became very ill, when pregnant with my brother. I was overwhelmed at the time, as I was an only child and had never been away from my parents, nor been in such a busy and noisy household. I have never forgotten her kindness. The last time I saw her was at my mum's funeral, nearly twenty years ago.
I hardly knew my large number of cousins, it took three buses and a train journey, to visit my mum's home town, where her family lived and money was always very tight. My cousin had found old photos of my mum and me as a baby and wanted to share them with me.

The best part of all was a surprise video call from Dollie. What joy!
My DIL is trying to start a small cake making business and had left some samples on the doorstep for us to try. I had been in bed, so by the time I got to the door, she was already next door in her mum's driveway. I think she must have been shocked at how unwell I looked (another cover up on my part) and told my son. Some of you already know the story of my son and DIL's estrangement from us all last year, so between that and shielding, I haven't been able to have the conversation with them yet.
I think my recent heart attack gave them an awful shock and wake up call, he has realised time is running out.

Nothing much planned for today, just pottering about. I did try to take the photo of the Blackpool Illuminations, but the security lights kept coming on. Ever ingenious, I then attempted to hang out the bedroom window to photograph them, but nearly dropped my tablet on the conservatory roof! ? DH would have love that disaster!
You will just have to use your imagination! Tacky is probably an accurate description of the display. ?

Thank you all for your very kind words, I feel as if a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. You really are a lovely group!

Wishing you all a very pleasant and hopefully, minimally (is that an actual word? ) pain free day, today. ?

PS, A WORD OF WARNING, I REPORTED A POSTER LATE LAST NIGHT LAST NIGHT ON TWO THREADS ABOUT ROMANTIC SCAMS. PLEASE BE WARY!

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Apr-21 08:46:40

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° with blue skies. Nice, but not spring like! The weekend is to be very cold. Yesterday was a good day. I visited mum who was okay and then my oldest friend who had made hot cross buns and a Simnel cake for Easter. I was lazy in the afternoon as it was cold and drizzly.
Today I have no plans. I have ds and his new girlfriend coming for dinner on Easter Sunday so I'll have to think about the menu. A bit of light pottering I think. I hope you all have a good day.

JustMe Thu 01-Apr-21 08:48:08

Good Morning everyone from the South West. smile

Where has the sun gone? It was so lovely for a few hours yesterday and now it is very grey out there.

I love new potatoes especially Jerseys, any old way grin

Greyduster Thu 01-Apr-21 08:51:25

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool cloudy South Yorkshire. What a difference a day makes! DH just April fooled me by telling me one of the switches on our new toaster “came off in his hand”. I went up the wall as it is not a week old yet!?. We had a lovely day in the garden yesterday with DS and DiL. StepGrandson was supposed to stop off on his way back from Buckinghamshire and join us for lunch at one o’clock but didn’t turn up until five! I think he came via Norfolk! I warmed his food up and he still ate it! He seems to exist in a time zone of his own. After they’d all gone I felt shattered; not that it had been a particularly busy day for me but the excitement of seeing then again after so long I suppose. Today we are going to a local plant nursery that has been closed recently for refurbishments. We like it because it’s a proper nursery, not a garden centre, and they raise their own plants, which are very good and not expensive.
I like Aldi hot cross buns, too, Sheep, but only the bog standard ones!
Have the best day you can folks.

EkwaNimitee Thu 01-Apr-21 08:52:35

Good morning, Mick and everyone from another sunny day on the Cumbrian coast.
After failing to get a GP appointment on Monday and Tuesday, I found that the receptionist had put a note on the doctors desk as promised. The doctor rang me and we discussed my colonoscopy result-negative- and future treatment. I think I'm now a medical mystery as, after having body scans and oscopies, I seem to be in full working order! However, I'm being referred back to the hospital for more investigations of my steady weight loss which is now causing me considerable worry. More blood tests later today and an ultrasound on easter Sunday afternoon! They must be trying to catch up with backlogs.
I had my second jab yesterday, 10 weeks after the first. The centre was full of us oldies so much so this time that they were using the Methodist church opposite as an extra waiting room.
So far, no side effects apart from a slightly achy arm from the Pfizer vaccine, unlike those from the flu jab. I came home and mowed the lawn which was beginning to let the neighbourhood down.
I hope you don't wait too long for your scan, Ashcombe. The news from France wasn't good this morning, was it? Hopefully they will get on top of the latest wave by the time our travel restrictions are lifted and you can be off to visit your DH.
And the best of days to you all, I'm off to tackle an ever growing pile of ironing.

Good morning everyone and a happy 1at of April from Northampton, where it is grey and trying to rain. Another day was spent in the sunny garden yesterday, cutting the front grass, and then reading my Agatha Christie. The cats enjoyed an hour of sunbathing and watching the insects - they are very idle in the garden and like nothing better than finding a sunny spot under a bush to sit and watch the world go by.

Sainsburys arriving at lunchtime, then I must run the Shark over downstairs to get rid of the cat fur. Also my next book club read coming from Amazon. I think I may start on Michelle Obama's autobiography instead, though.

DS and his partner are having their first jabs today; I am so pleased for them. Our vaccination hub must now be on the 40 - 50 age group. I get my second next week.

Hoping that all have a pleasant day.

grandmajet Thu 01-Apr-21 08:53:44

Good morning from a dry but dull Nottinghamshire. My longing for a hot cross bun has increased as I read all your news, I don’t think my skills up to making them but I may have a go. The added marzipan sounds delicious, GrandMattie
I hope your car is sorted, brook. I’m not a mechanic but I think brakes are quite important.
Yesterday we called in to DD2 with a pond lily that DD3 had left with us when she visited on tuesday - she and her partner have a little pond plant business. We helped her place it in her pond, then sat in the garden for a chat. I realised, after a bit, we are actually allowed to do this! We could also walk through the house to use the toilet, but not sit down. I assume we’re allowed to sit on the toilet?!
Grandpajet is off for a longish walk with a couple of friends this morning, then I have a face to face consultation this afternoon, I think to discuss a new biopsy. I wonder what they think may have changed? Oh well, I’ll just go, and ask.
Enjoy the day everyone, as much as you can.

Sheepandcattle Thu 01-Apr-21 08:56:25

A ( not very flattering) photo of Iris, taken this morning when she was hoovering up her breakfast!

Jaxjacky Thu 01-Apr-21 08:56:42

Good morning all, we’re a love all potatoes house too, hoping my allotment crop is good later in the year. Ashcombe our NHS never ceases to impress me, a productive call. Pleased your DH is ‘getting there’ Gaga, baby steps.
Marydoll it was brave, but also pragmatic, now the lines of communication are fully open conversations will flow better.
Off to visit friends in their garden later, oops forgot the weather here, overcast, as it was all of yesterday and breezy. DD is full of cold, her school requested a PCR test yesterday, even though she’s off and takes two lateral flow tests a week, result today. She’s sad, as although she feels a bit rough, she’ll miss her class with their Easter egg hunt. No other plans today, hoping EV had some helpful advice.
Have a pleasant day all, a glimpse of ? or a few ???.

Dwmxwg Thu 01-Apr-21 08:57:37

Good morning from an overcast north Surrey. The sun managed to disappear and stayed hidden yesterday but was warm and we had a very simple BBQ with DGSs.
I started the day with an April Fools joke on the boys, told them we had all overslept and they had 5 minutes to get ready for school! The older one cottoned on quickly but his brother didn’t (although he still didn’t rush). DGS1 has permission (from school) for the class to play a joke on their teacher, look forward to hearing about that when they finish early. I have got to drive them to daddy’s this afternoon, am quite anxious about that so have enlisted my ex to come with us to navigate. DH will be off to get his 2nd vaccination and my parents get theirs too today.
Hope those with aches and pains have a better day today

Anniebach Thu 01-Apr-21 08:58:19

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Gelisajams Thu 01-Apr-21 09:04:04

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it promises to be a very nice day weather wise.
Thank you for all your birthday wishes. I had a particularly enjoyable day yesterday. DH really pulled out the stops. I knew he had booked the rowing boat on Windermere but he also bought me a cross stitch kit which I’ve wanted for a while but have baulked at the price. We went in the campa and he had prepared a 3 course lunch complete with cake and a candle. We concluded the day with a walk along the lake shore. So much better than last year when we were just one week into lockdown.
The nurse has just phoned with the results of my ‘MoT’ last week. I’m good to go for another 12 months!
It’s all go this week! We are off to see DS1 this afternoon for a garden visit and have arranged to see Ds3 on Saturday.
Sending???to all who need them. Stay safe everyone take care?

Alygran Thu 01-Apr-21 09:07:26

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The sunshine has gone into hiding.
It was a beautiful day yesterday and I had a lovely walk at the arboretum. It was stunning with the daffodils (apparently over 100 varieties) and blossom starting to come out. Completed my walking challenge too so I’m feeling proud of myself.
A friend is calling later for a walk. I haven’t seen her this year! It’s good to hear many are beginning to catch up with families and friends.
Pleased to hear about improving DHs and soon to arrive babies.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Mapleleaf Thu 01-Apr-21 09:11:33

Good morning all,

April already - the weeks are certainly whizzing by.

It’s a lot cooler today here in South Yorkshire after two days of blue sky and warm sunshine. It’s back to typical holiday weather, cold, grey and dismal.

I will return later to read through all the posts as it’s nearly time for my Pilates class, so in the meantime, take care and have the best day you can. ? for all with troubles, worries or illness.

Greyduster Thu 01-Apr-21 09:17:38

Lovely photos Alygran. Well done on completing your walking challenge!

EllanVannin Thu 01-Apr-21 09:24:12

Good Morning All x. White Rabbits.
Weather back to normal and although it's a grey clouded sky there's no sign of rain. I have some washing to dry so could be lucky if this breeze keeps up.

A bit of a wasted day yesterday as after I'd rang the medical centre they would ring me back-----they didn't. I couldn't very well put D on standby either as she has the children half-term and was on a shift from work.

I felt that I couldn't have gone through another " episode " like I had after the first. Plus the fact that my blood hadn't been tested for clotting times ( INR ) since January so there'd be no knowing if it was a high or low reading.

I'd told them that they can't just randomly vaccinate without knowing the background medical conditions of those who are taking warfarin as with the first vax they just asked if I was on blood-thinners which to me wasn't good enough because they should have also seen why by looking at my notes.

When I have these " flutters " it's caused by blood pooling in a heart chamber and like a washing machine doesn't pump everything away and just sits there until it escapes a bit at a time but in doing so, with blood, it throws off clots which could end up in the heart ( attack ) brain ( stroke ) or lungs and as you get older it's more lethal because the body isn't as efficient.

I've done really well this last nearly 20 years so I don't want anything to rock the boat. Covid or A/fib will see me off but I see Covid as the lesser of the two evils in that I don't mind following rules for the rest of my life really at this later stage.

Any M&S shopping today at some point though I can't get that much in the freezer so dates on fresh food will have to be good.

Hope * Marydoll* isn't feeling too down today after" opening up". ( I'm not good at that ) So good on you x.

What a busy time Sheepandcattle and the noises in your ears made me smile because you'd hear that for ages after smile
I only like the traditional HotX buns too. I always knew it was Easter when I could smell those baking at home, mum's were best.

Refreshing to hear about how you're looked after Ashcombe, although I can't fault my local hospital, it's some GP's who need re-training.

Hope your OH can soon be sorted too * cornergran*.
Mick I also put mint in with new potatoes when boiling----love them. I wonder if the Jersey's will be a bit later because of lack of pickers etc. ? I love all potatoes and have devoured tons in my lifetime grin I'm no bigger though ! Hollow legs.

I'll have to put a spurt on in case D calls as GS is looking after the children today until he goes to work at 2pm so not that long to get done and I don't like rushing.

Enjoy the day of the new month everyone and take care. Stay safe too.xx

dustyangel Thu 01-Apr-21 09:40:19

Good morning all, I’ve only caught up with the first page so far and will have to wait till later for the rest. I saw Matt Baker’s program and thoroughly enjoyed Tchaichinan.
The weather is not conducive to getting going but I must because the physiotherapist is coming. Thank goodness she is considered a medical necessity! ?

dustyangel Thu 01-Apr-21 09:41:30

I knew I should have previewed!

LauraNorder Thu 01-Apr-21 09:52:37

Good morning all from dry but quite cool Anglesey.
I am currently standing in the garden waiting for the fire brigade as Orlin is stuck on the chimney having gone up to rescue a bird.
I am trying to keep him calm.
Here they are nee naw nee naw, must go

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Apr-21 10:01:33

Goodness! LauraNorder you live an exciting life. I hope he's rescued without too much loss of dignity
