What gets you up in the morning?

This morning my 7 year old granddaughter was up and dressed in record time as her first pony arrived yesterday!
She was out feeding her first thing without my daughter having to go through the usual nagging and coaxing.

While all this was going on I was over a 100 miles away drinking tea and reading the papers online….. no hurry for me today!

I only get going quickly if I have to, mornings are deliciously slow for me at the moment!

What gets you up and at them?

Dog, or loo or taking my daughter to work at 6.15.

At the moment, next door's building work (they come early and leave early) and the noise of workmen repairing a serious electrical fault two doors down. Giant lorry arrived at 7.30 this morning and noisily deposited tons of earth and sand to fill in the giant hole in the pavement/front garden of said neighbours!!!

Arthritis of the knee and hands wake me every morning the pain is relentless until I get my joints on the move. My husband brings me a builders mug of tea which is delicious. I get my weary joints downstairs to make another cup.

My alarm clock: carpal tunnel pain quickly followed by sciatica,; a mind full of things I need to deal with for a) my unpaid job and b) my paid job; the cold! Any or all of the above wake me up in the morning.

Nagging dog.

Years of getting up at 6,30 or before, my body clock is programmed to that for life now I think.

My lovely grandson. The occasional times when he actually gets up a bit later than 7, I inevitably wake-up, worrying that something's happened to him!

I'm sorry for those who wake in pain - must be awful

I'm always up early as if awake I get up, rather than doze on and off and get a headache!

Also the thought of a lovely breakfast and coffee spurs me on - haven't had either yet just a cup of tea although been up for ages.

A dog and cat - their tummy clocks don't go back or forward when other clocks do!

My OH with a cup of tea and a head/hair stroke

The family dog coming downstairs to stay with Grandma while the family are out during the day.
He just about takes my front door off, and sits and stares at my DD until she leaves.

My care responsibility or I'd sleep until I woke naturally

Sharina Fri 12-Nov-21 11:51:12

My beloved husband who brings me a cup of tea every morning! Bless him.

ExDancer

My bad back wakes me in tears every morning and I'm in so much pain I have to get up and dressed and take my painkillers. I hate waking up.

ExDancer I feel for you. Mine is the same.

Jeanne. Neighbours children?
That would drive me Crazy!!!!
If I could hear neighbours when I’m in bed I’d know they were warning me of Fire or Danger. In 7yrs the only neighbour noise I’ve heard is a screaming child of 7 whose now been banned from visiting until she promises she’s learnt how to behave….thanks Fred and Iris, her no longer suffering grandparents.

In the week have to get up for work. If I am on leave or it’s a weekend the cats don’t take any account of it and wake me up missing for their breakfast (well one of them in particular, the other 2 boys not so bad but Arthur is a feline dustbin never fully content unless he is eating)

yogitree Fri 12-Nov-21 12:03:47

The dog, shaking her flappy ears at the side of the bed - to wake me to feed her. I just can't ignore her. Her happiness is infectious.

Bijou Fri 12-Nov-21 12:06:17

my old dog sticking his nose in my face <3

Mine too!

He'll bring me a toy, which is shoved into my face usually and then stand making little chuffing noises until my feet hit the floor.
Strangely enough, this is at 07.15 on the dot - best alarm clock ever!
