Has anyone else heard this? It’s absolutely brilliant it’s sung by a sexy long haired man called Sam Ryder. I can’t wait as I love Eurovision even the political voting. Does anyone else like Eurovision?

Last time I watched it, ABBA won ?

Kandinsky Wed 11-May-22 20:29:42

I can't stop thinking of the Babylon Zoo version

Loved that song! grin

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 20:30:09

Me too!

Oh I do love Eurovision.

My daughter is devastated as she's going to a wedding on Saturday and will miss it. It's always been a fun night at ours

I'm pretty certain that Ukraine will win

Yes, me too!

We don't watch it but I hope we come second!
After Ukraine, of course ? ?????

It drives my dog mad because she thinks the ice cream van has pulled up outside. ?

I liked Netta Barziai the 2018 winner for Israel.

Zoejory Wed 11-May-22 20:50:33

Oh yes, me too, ShropshireMiss

I remember Israel having a couple of really good entries in the 70s.

A Ba Ni Bi and Hallelujah.

Not hugely keen on Ukraine's song this year but not to worry. They had a really good entry in 2004. Wild Dances.

Looking forward to the light relief.
We listened to it on the car radio on a long journey a few years ago, so scoring purely on sound - it was a very different experience to the TV.

The judging is political anyway ?

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 20:54:01

Anyone remember this little lot? grin

You're quite right!

Maybe Ukraine will give us some points this year?

Originally it was a lady called Alina Pash who won the Ukrainian contest to represent Ukraine on Eurovision. But she was removed because she had visited Crimea. It’s a shame because her song and performance were nice.

Polly73 Wed 11-May-22 21:14:08

I (obviously) hope Ukraine win - but I think their entry is pretty awful!

They seem to have Jamaraqui in their group...

MawtheMerrier Wed 11-May-22 21:40:21

I thought you might like this - I think I might need one too.

When I was at school I was seriously impressed listening to Katie Boyle converse in different languages with the judges!

Actually I just Googled her name. She died in 2018 aged 91y.
She was born in a royal palace in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, which had once belonged to the Italian royal family, the daughter of an Italian marquis (the Marchese Demetrio Imperiali di Francavilla), and his English wife, Dorothy Kate Ramsden. She came to the United Kingdom in 1946.

I think this years entry was written by the brilliant Amy Wadge ,she's Welsh and a fab singer/songwriter who we frst saw supporting Eric Bibb in Edinburgh 20 0dd years ago She 's done the music for several TV series too.A talented lady ,I wish her and her singer luck

My best friend at school, mother was someone at the BBC and she got us tickets for the Eurovision at the Albert Hall in 1968. Cliff Richard sang Congratulations, but disappointedly came second.

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 22:16:38

Did you spot star quality in Cliff?
That's a damn good memory to have...

JenniferEccles Wed 11-May-22 22:21:08

Wasn’t it Katie Boyle who was described as ‘the thinking man’s crumpet’ ? !

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 22:24:14

I thought that was Joanna Lumley?
A pack of crumpets, possibly?

Callistemon21 Wed 11-May-22 22:24:29

Katie Boyle
Born: Caterina Irene Elena Maria Imperiali dei Principi di Francavilla

She was multilingual and really was very classy!

I liked Terry Wogan's style of commentating on the Eurovision (on the occasions we did watch bits of it ?)
