Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright and looks like the start of a nice day with the cold air as well here in Brackley.
Today, I will catch the bus to Bicester later , due to restricted timings because of the pandemic, and have a coffee and maybe a pie with it outside the bakery shop/cafe .
Then do a general shop in the town , before heading home .
Take Care,
Mick

I was so exhausted after painting DD’s living room yesterday that I was in bed by 8.30 last night!

A day of childcare ahead.Looking after H all day then school pick up for M.I managed the plaits Mary but definitely not as dexterous as I was so took some doing!

Happy birthday mattie????hope you have a good day and that you had a good day yesterday.

Hope all went well for NanKate yesterday.

Thinking of Cherry and hoping she’s ok?

Have a good day all and thought to our missing friends and all with illness and worries??

Good morning all. We have excitement here. Woken before 5 by people talking and vehicles arriving. DH looks out and there are police at the house opposite. Said house is having complete refurbishment and there have been builders there for weeks. DH said they were bringing out lamps so my detective powers suspect we are living next to a cannabis factory! They are still here and have just broken into the van parked on the drive. I will be checking the local news and catching up with the neighbours later.
We have the boys here, they are sleeping and have missed it all.
We plan to walk with them later and take a picnic. DH walked on Monday in the area where Ronald Dhal lived so we are going to go there.
Hope our day has had its fill of excitement, I feel quite out of sorts, very strange

An earlier good morning from me here in Northampton, just up the road from Mick. It is bright and sunny here and looks as though there is a touch of frost.

Had a busy morning yesterday catching up on a few jobs around the house, then in the afternoon cut the front grass and finished the weeding.

No plans for today except wait in for Sainsbury's to deliver late morning. Shall ring a friend whose birthday it is tomorrow and arrange to go round and drop off her present and card. Will spend the afternoon with my Michelle Obama autobiography. Chicken ginger and pineapple stir-fry for dinner tonight.

Enjoy your bus trip Mick. Wishing a good day for us all.

Beechnut Thu 15-Apr-21 06:34:14

Start again. Why do I waggle another finger than catches on something and posts ?

A dry bright and frosty start. I think I’ll spend more time in the garden today and start with bagging up some rubbish as my green waste bin is full. I felt so happy out there yesterday after my miserable Monday. Once the lawn is mowed I think it makes everything look so much better.

I hope it went well for you NanKate. Wishing you a Happy Birthday Mattie ???

Good morning everyone from Essex by the sea. There is frost on the cars but the sun is trying to come out.
Shopping at Lidl this morning then DH is meeting 2 or 3 friends for a drink outside their usual pub this afternoon. I hope they wrap up well.
I shall get on with my latest cross stitch.
Have a pleasant Thursday and find that ? xx

Good morning from a bright but chilly Torbay! ☀️

Happy birthday to grandMattie and her DGD1! What a joy to share the same birthday! ?????
What excitement, Dwmxwg! ???‍♀️?
Thinking of NanKate and hope to hear from her soon.

Yesterday, I finally got round to dealing with one of the few disadvantages of living near the sea: the calling cards kindly deposited on my car by the gulls! Luckily, it proved to be easier than at other times as it wasn’t too ... er ... solid!

In the afternoon, I enjoyed our weekly Zoom call with the members of our amdram social club, imaginatively named The Wednesday Club! This included reminiscences about working in London in days gone by and revealed some surprising background to past lives of one or two folk.

I’m glad my link to Simmons Park was of interest. I hope to return to my home on May Day weekend. Yes, I can hardly believe it will be May in a couple of weeks!

Have a good day, everyone. As my Irish Dad used to say, “May all your problems be little ones!” ?

grandMattie Thu 15-Apr-21 06:45:29

Good morning grammingoes (thanks, grandmaFrench) from lovely morning in E Kent. Unfortunately, it will cloud over and become quite windy later.
Thank you birthday greetings. I’m 73 today. When I was 10ish the thought of being so old, or seeing the millennium in were as remote as the moon!
We had yet another lovely time with the girls. Granddad was dispatched to fetch them while DD and DSiL were packing. We decorated the cake. They enjoyed the strawberry dipping. (I am now left with 1/2 bowl of very sweet white chocolate. What to do with it?) Delicious lunch and early exchange of presents. They left soon after.
I mentioned that it was probably the first time that someone else had made my birthday meal since I left home! It was really nice.
I spent the rest of the day washing bed linen which I had lent them, to avoid their having to bring stuff. Didn’t want to do anything I didn’t want to today...
Going to a garden centre today to pick a few perennials. Unlike Marydoll, they are few around here, and some seem to specialise in things other than plants, which really annoys me.
May today be full of hope and spiritual sunshine ☀️, with a few random flamingos ?thrown in. ?

dragonfly46 Thu 15-Apr-21 06:45:47

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

NWR planning meeting last night and they are all coming to my garden on the 20th May so had better keep it tidy!

May go and sit outside somewhere and have a coffee this morning showing off my new haircut.

Happy Birthday GrandMattie.

grandMattie Thu 15-Apr-21 06:49:36

Sharing a birthday with DGD1 has a story behind it, Ash.
A very dear friend died in my 60th, my mother on my 61st. I decided to “run away”, on my 62nd to cancel the hex. Came home in the evening to find that DSiL had been frantically trying to get to us to give to good news (pre mobile phones).!
Hex definitely cancelled! ?

Beauregard Thu 15-Apr-21 06:56:54

Good morning from Derbyshire, bright and sunny today. I watered the whole garden yesterday as the dry spell continues.

Shopping this morning with an added visit to Dunelm afterwards. Oh the excitement!

Happy birthday grandMattie ???

Excitement near you Dwmxwg Sounds like your detective skills could be right!

Hope today is a good day for all.

baubles Thu 15-Apr-21 07:01:45

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the sun is breaking through.

Enjoy your day Mick.
Sounds just like you’re living on a Line of Duty set Dwm.

I had a lovely walk with my friend yesterday, when the mist had burned off the day turned really warm so we then had lunch in the garden. She stayed for ages, it was a real tonic. However I’ve woken up loaded with the cold today, Sod’s law.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

brook2704 Thu 15-Apr-21 07:26:22

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny Inverness. Yesterday was a lovely warm sunny day and it’s hopefully the same today
Happy Birthday to you and your DGD GM, I hope you have a lovely day and it’s good to know you’ve already had such a lovely time with your family. The cake looks yummy!
I’ve got quite a few jobs to catch up on today after looking after the DGC this week. Their dad is off work today so they’re at home just now but they’ll be back tonight for their last sleepover before back at school on Monday.
I hope that’s the end of the excitement Dwm strange happenings indeed
Wishing everyone a kind gentle day today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gagagran Thu 15-Apr-21 07:31:02

Morning all from a lovely, sunny, clear south coast. +1.5c on my weather station.

The new garden hose arrived yesterday and we found that the outside tap has sprung a leaking joint, right against the wall. It is original to the house we think, so probably from the 1960s.

I remembered that we had another outside tap, which we had never used, underneath the cloakroom window and still wrapped in ancient insulation. Hey presto! It works, so the new hose is attached to that, fed under the side gate and the "job's a good 'un!". (Apart from, having to replace the tap outside the kitchen, no longer in use pro temps).

DH enjoyed his first bike club ride since last autumn but peeled off early and was home for lunch. Seeing his chums did him as much good as the ride, I think, and I enjoyed having a bit of time to myself. Wins all round.

Hope we hear from NanKate soon and that she is doing well. We seem to have a fairly active sick bay on here but with lots of discharged patients too, which is always good news.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Good morning from sunny Cheshire. Think still chilly.
Lovely cake GrandMattie - many happy returns. Just saw that pic when skimming down so will read other posts later.

Gelisajams Thu 15-Apr-21 07:41:20

Good morning from a frosty Morecambe Bay but we have a lovely clear blue sky and the birds are singing. I’m feeling a bit achy after gardening yesterday but I have a grass cut today so I shall ignore it and crack on. DS1 is descending tomorrow with 3 of of our GC. A bit of a surprise the 19 year old is coming. She must be thoroughly fed up with lockdown. She’s supposed to be at uni but there’s been no uni life for her this year. It’s a shame because she has low self esteem and lacks confidence. A proper university experience would have done her the world of good.
I may venture into a supermarket and stock up with some extras to feed them all. Here’s hoping the dry weather lasts.
Take care and look after yourselves ???

Gelisajams Thu 15-Apr-21 07:42:34

Happy Birthday Grandmattie have a lovely day.

Good morning all from a very sunny, but frosty Glasgow, it's-2 degrees. I love spring days like this!

Wishing GM the happiest of birthdays, I hope you have a lovely day.

Nothing much to report. Did a bit of steam cleaning yesterday, ( fool that I am) then fell asleep! The dining room floor was really annoying me! However, I then noticed the units were all needing some TLC. Perhaps today, then again perhaps not. There is an awful lot of glass.

I thought I would sit in the garden, (sitting is an enathma to me,) when a friend from church phoned, he is quite lonely, but can be very opinionated. Everyone is wrong and he is always right. I often have to bite my tongue, not easy ?
The last time he phoned, I told him I had to lie down, to get him off the phone, as he was becoming so argumentative.
He has a habit of phoning in the middle of mealtimes, which means dinner is late. It was very late last night and Mr MD was not amused.

Later I had to phone our new Parish Priest about some church business. He has apparently ruffled a few feathers, so I was dreading it, as I had never met him. Before shielding, I had been very involved in so much parish admin stuff, then of course, I was locked up and unable to do so!

Much to my surprise, he was very kind to me. (A lesson, not to listen to the gossips) .We talked for over an hour, as he wanted to pick my brains! Having gained a reputation for being aloof, to my astonishment, he came out of the blue, with this statement: My brother speaks very highly of you! I was like a child, who had been awarded a gold star for good work. ?
His brother, a teacher in our high school, and I used to work very closely with challenging pupils, who were transitioning from primary to secondary school. His brother was of a similar disposition, but I usually managed to win him round! ? How I miss those days.

Unfortunately I have got into a muddle with a bank account I am treasurer for, a small voluntary group. We used it to get grants for small community activities. Its so long since its has been used that the bank are going to suspend it, so we thought we would reactivate it.
Because it needs two signatories, a cheque was of no use, since I can't meet anyone, so I thought I could just transfer a donation online. Oh no, nothing is that simple. Back to the drawing board today and a telephone call to the bank! I'm not looking forward to that.

Hoping to hear from NanKate today. ? Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Good morning everyone from another gorgeous sunny start to the day on the east coast of Fife. Here’s hoping that cold breeze off the north sea stays away. These past few afternoons have been really nice and warm bringing lovely happy feelings to mind.

It’s really amazing what good weather does for the heart and sole. That’s the garden looking good now himself has mowed the lawn.

That’s my support for the political party of my choice splayed across my front bedroom window. I’m expecting my postal vote to be delivered soon.

Have a good day and be kind to yourselves the world is opening up at long last but remember and keep safe. Virtual hugs flowers

NanKate Thu 15-Apr-21 08:14:45

Good morning Mick and All.

Thank you so very much, Kitty, Mary, Dragonfly, Gagagran, Bellasnana, NannyJ, Hulahoop, Susan56, Ashcombe and anyone else who kindly sent messages before my colonoscopy yesterday, very much appreciated ??

We have a history of bowel cancer in my family so of course I was concerned. All turned out ok and I have been given advice on how to reduce the risk of another flare up of diverticulitis.
The only tiny downside was that the anaesthetic has made me sick but that should wear off soon. Signing out from the Sick Bay.

Hope the sun ☀️ Is shining where you are.

NannyJan53 Thu 15-Apr-21 08:15:50

Good morning from a very sunny Black Country.

Driving over to DD's today for a walk round the country lanes and fields in her village. Looks like it may be very warm. Then pop over to Mums to see why her Portal isn't working.

Happy Birthday grandMattie flowers cupcake I remember being 10ish and thinking how old I would be on the Millenium ....47! smile

Hoping all went well for NanKate
