Decided today I would stop avoiding it and get them done. For some reason everyone loves my mince pies which I realise is very flattering. Thing is, I hate making them ! So far 4 dozen in freezer and I am losing the will to live.
Am I the only one ?

It doesn't look much different from other recipes, when baked won't the suet melt anyway?

It's got much more suet than the norm. I tried a teaspoonful first thing and the fat was claggy round my teeth. Eurgh.

I've got two jars left from last year (bought, Robertson's).
Think I'll add some chopped apple and brandy to that instead.

I've bought three or four lots of mince pies already but DH keeps eating them.

Mary Berry uses butter, not suet, in hers.

Yes! Butter would probably taste nice. I will look at her recipe C.

Butter in the mincemeat and butter and Trex in the almond pastry. I like shop bought but I love my homemade. I’m not a baker except at Christmas. Like the sound of the Delia recipe.
