The Little Red Hen - a great story with a moral tale to promote good work ethics.

Hertsgirl75 Sat 14-Sep-19 07:39:57

I loved Puss and Boots as he shows his plucky and enterprising spirit and helps his poor hapless master to climb the social ladder. However thinking about it now, his scheming is somewhat questionable!

Cinderella, my favourite part was when Prince Charming chose Cinderella to go to the ball and the pumpkin carriage smile

My favourite fairytale growing up was Song Of The South, "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. My, oh my, what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine headin' my way. Zip-a- dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder. It's the truth, it's actual. Ev'rything is ..." I can remember dancing around the living room to this lovely song with my grandma , her silver hair in a bun and wrap around pinny, such simplicity those days, many years ago, The animation was beautiful. I don't even know if this is still available?

My fav.story when I was young, was Rumplestiltskin...I was actually terrified of the character in the book. My Mum told stories so well, and it was the voice she put on,when getting into the character of him!! I loved my Fairy Stories, but this was No.1.

The ugly duckling was a fave

happysouls Sat 14-Sep-19 09:36:00

The Three Billy Goats Gruff! It always has to be read with different voices and effects and UP jumps the ugly troll to make you jump! I remember playing it one day in a stream with a bridge over it and the whole family playing roles! haha!

SusieWilkinson Sat 14-Sep-19 09:39:32

The Elves and the Shoemaker, I don't even remember why, but I used to ask for my Mum to read it to me every night!

wjanice121 Sat 14-Sep-19 09:42:23

Hansel and Gretel because I remember getting the book for Christmas, as a child, and my mum reading it to us children.

maryandbuzz1 Sat 14-Sep-19 10:03:50

Rumpelstilskin ......I loved it when he was seen dancing round the fire and chanting his name.

Jacks10 Sat 14-Sep-19 10:06:32

Jack and the beanstalk - such an exciting fairytale. Read it over and over again! Such a shame the children of today are less interested in reading!
