Why dont people understand the words ‘stay at home’ !

I agree, it's people like them that put others at risk

You don't know if they are collecting medicine, food etc or even if they are getting out of their cars. They're not a danger to anyone if they are just going for a drive.
We have to go out today, we need to take the dog to the vets.
Worry about yourself.

I'm indoors, apart from a walk around the village, haven't encountered anyone.

Mr P has to go out to get food shopping, but tries to go as infrequently as possible.

But with the amount you can buy at a time limited, he is finding he needs to more often than he would like.

I agree with you Sophiasnana. Some people really don't get the idea that the rules apply to them.

I belong to a couple of local Facebook groups and some people are coming up with truly pathetic excuses about why they should be an "exception".

I was going to take my car for a run up the M40 this morning but according my GS I shouldn’t even be doing that as I’m not doing any of the 4 things we’re allowed to go it for

There will always be some people who think the rules don't apply to them. The police in this area are now stopping drivers at random to check their reasons for being on the road. We're lucky that we live in a village so can walk without meeting people or, if we do, keep the minimum 2m between us.

Flexiblefriend. I know these people personally. They are all healthy and there is no way you need to be shopping, getting meds etc 4 times daily. As for going for a drive....essential journeys only!
I am not just worrying about myself, I am worrying about us all, and our sanity if this goes on for much longer!

If you need to travel on a motorway to your nearest shop or to deliver food and medicines to isolated people fair enough, but there should be no reason for anyone to be driving long distances. My daughter lives 25 miles away, it’s her birthday next week and I would love to be able to drive to her house to deliver presents- but I can’t so I won’t. People say “Oh some Rules are made to be broken”. Not these rules, people! Please stay indoors. Today is one day closer to all this being over.

There are always people who think the law only applies to others sadly.
Our car batteries will all run down if we don’t get out for however many weeks then if we need a car, in an emergency say, we’re scuppered! I’ve just had mine replaced after leaving the car undriven for 5 weeks while in Oz.

My only outing until this is over will be one solo walk each day. I’ll miss a GS and a DD birthday (& mine) so a Whatsapp will have to do.

My son had to go to 3 different supermarkets the other day and still failed to find any bread or baby formula. I certainly need to go to the vets as my dog is being pts due to incurable illness and refusing to eat for 4 days. My son will be taking me and we look healthy but neither of us are. We'd really like not to be doing it but really have no choice.

If you're worried about your battery, just turn on the ignition, rev the engine once and leave to tick over for 10 minutes or do 5 minute a day. That will trigger the alternator to charge the battery. Also if your car is on the flat let your handbrake off a couple of times a week then put it on again. That will protect the brakes.

I was told to go to a ward on a hospital I do not know, nearly 40 miles away, to collect my medication!

DS has driven to us today but to deliver food. He did stop for a chat, but well away in the garden. He also did a delivery to his MIL.

vq DH has put wooden wedges under our tyres (like a door stop) and taken off the brake when we had to leave our car on the drive for a while. The drive is fairly flat - not to be recommended on a sloping drive!

My neighbours are having an extension built. There have been 3 different trades in there today, 6 people all working together and the neighbours are in their late 60s. They obviously think the rules don't apply to them. It's water tight so they could leave it. They also have a separate annex they're living.

As long as you don't have contact with these people, they can't harm you. You don't know what they are doing, but if you are like my next door neighbour you will do your best to find out; ( emergency dentist, chemist, prescription x 2, food and exercise)

Apparently the police are inundated with phone calls from people reporting their neighbours; now they are busy pursuing by drone the dog walkers who apparently polluted the Peak district by taking their dog for a walk far from the haunts of man.

We go out for a walk, or to shops for food. Wear gloves and keep distance from others.

We have a house being built near us and at the moment there are 7 lorries and vans there. The builders generally sit in the vans with a couple of others to have lunch so much for self-isolation. I get so cross when like other neighbours we are staying in as we are told to do. So selfish

I'd like to see these people put in cages and given food and medication as appropriate. Its seems the only way to make some people understand what the word "essential" means. It would save police time too!

I had to go to the local chemist to get a prescription and was pleased to see a very orderly and sensible queue. The pharmacist saw us one at a time. The same in the local bread shop.

In a local park groups of lads playing football, basketball and cricket. Another group sitting smoking weed!! When something was said( not by me) they became abusive. These boys/ young men must go home to their families. Unbelievably selfish.

Sophiesnana I agree. Yesterday I watched several adults and seven or eight children playing football in the church carpark here in the village. I do know them and I do know they are not all members of the same family. I was in my garden which is next to the church.
Just because they're young, in the open air, and healthy - if just one of them does down with it the potential of spreading it around the whole village is beyond my ability to compute.
The elderly are obeying the rules, some of the young are just NOT and it p*sses the pants off me.

Elderly neighbours who never leave the house are now going out for a walk daily. Maybe they think the one episode of exercise we’re allowed a day is compulsory!

That made me smile. I've found myself doing exactly that - how stupid! There seems to be more cyclists on the roads too.
Maybe the ones who are left after all this will be super-healthy - just off for my daily constitutional, bye .....

I've just read on FB that Kent and Sussex police are stopping cars and asking the reason they are on the road. Fines are being given for unnecessary travel.

Best thing to do, close your curtains or occupy yourself in some way and let them all get on with it. If you are at the window watching your neighbours everyday, you will drive yourself dotty. As long as YOU are following the rules, why bother what everyone else is doing?
