Watching Dominic Cummings being grilled on tv by journalists Asking the same questions over and over. It is obvious from the guidelines which he read out that he was not breaking them.
His family and especially his child must come first. He did what he thought was best.
Leave the poor man alone.

And again what childcare issues were involved when he went into downing street?

lemongrove Mon 25-May-20 17:58:38

It doesn’t accord with your viewpoint Jis but that doesn’t make it ‘rubbish’.
It doesn’t have anything to do with a person dying in hospital at all, you have your viewpoint, I have mine.I find it a specious arguement.

Oldwoman70 Mon 25-May-20 17:59:26

No matter what he said a lot of people would not have believed him simply because of who he is.

trisher Mon 25-May-20 17:59:55

His judgement in this case wasn't good, so how can his judgement in other areas be trusted? He evidently only thinks about himself and not the public good. Therefor he isn't fit to do the job he is supposed to be doing.

I expect those people who were NOT ALLOWED to be with their dying loved one - because those were the RULES - would disagree with you.

Do some of you realise what you are posting? This man was not dealing with a dying relative and to be honest many can not be with theirs when they pass on. You really cannot expect anyone to believe you have a view that should be respected when you compare a real rule about people dying with Covid19 to one that doesn't exist about possibly leaving a four-year-old child to cope as both of you die of the damned thing. He did not break any rules when he tried to make the best decision for his child's care, he made the best judgement he could in the circumstances. You might not have made it; I might not have made it but he seems to have worked on protecting as many people as possible.

And I really dislike much if not most of what this man has done politically and I voted Labour - possibly for the last time unless they calm the witch-hunt. It is not about politics it is about the best common sense you can find at the time.

It is not a witch hunt. He broke the rules, and getting away with it sends a signal to the public that it is just fine to interpret them as we see fit.

The result of that will be more infections. He has to go.

Nannee49 Mon 25-May-20 18:02:44

Oh My God!! What do you who support him not get? This is not a witch hunt. This is democracy in action calling for him to be called to account for breaking the rules and giving everyone carte blanche to interpret the rules to do exactly as they want. It's not only about who he is but what he's done - BROKEN THE RULES!!

We can all now be special cases with extenuating circumstances thanks to him.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-May-20 18:03:08

Sorry, I would have and still would use my instinct and if any of my AC or GC needed me I would g to them in a heartbeat.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 18:03:24

He's broken all sorts of rules!

sodapop Mon 25-May-20 18:08:03

Although I dislike Cummings and disagree with decisions he made I do think this has turned into a witch hunt. Boris has badly misjudged the mood of the country.

Jishere Mon 25-May-20 18:08:07

Exactly Trisher can't feel any sympathy for him. Although I'm glad he had a nice day out at that castle!?

merlotgran Mon 25-May-20 18:10:01

He has always been hated by the Left of course so this is a gift for them.

Please don't assume that criticism is only coming from the left, JenniferEccles

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 18:11:12

The gift that keeps on giving.

Elrel Mon 25-May-20 18:12:12

Several of his own party and a number of bishops are wanting him to show integrity and resign. He and his wife have not shown integrity over their movements.

heath480 Mon 25-May-20 18:13:37

If he hadn’t behaved the way he did there would be no “witch hunt”.

I am beyond furious that this man did whatever he wanted to without a thought for anybody else.He is inthe Punlic Eye,of course his actions will be scrutinised.

I consider him to be an evil, dangerous man anyway, knowing his past history. This is just the tip of the iceberg with him.

He broke Government guidelines, who does he think he is,sitting in the garden of No10.Unbelievable.

This is far from over,I don’t see anyway he will remain in post.

I hope the demonstrators outside his house, stay there and give him hell.

I would go myself but I am self isolating and have not seen my children and grandchildren for nearly 3 months.

How anyone is defending him on here beggars belief!!

lemsip Mon 25-May-20 18:14:37

it is integrity that should be uppermost in people in high office such as the prime minister and MPs. Cummings, being a Political Advisor to Boris johnson, is wriggly!
it is no good people saying they would do the same, we don't know who you are so wouldn't care, would we!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-May-20 18:16:12

heath480 you wish a young child to be traumatised by a mass of braying journos outside his house......how unkind!

EllanVannin Mon 25-May-20 18:16:19

I'd drop everything for my family---lockdown or not ! I certainly wouldn't want to be treated like a murderer either.

We can do things like that because we don't have cameras shoved in our faces.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 18:17:25

If he hadn't behaved how he has, there would be no journalists outside.

heath480 Mon 25-May-20 18:17:35

The Petition asking for his resignation/ sacking has over half a million signatures now, speaks volumes.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-May-20 18:17:41

EV ditto

Galaxy Mon 25-May-20 18:20:19

He went into downing street nothing to do with his child.

phoenix Mon 25-May-20 18:21:19

No one should be in a position where they, their wife and child feel threatened and intimidated by the media.

However, no one should put themselves in that position.

Jishere Mon 25-May-20 18:23:36

Heath480 hear hear well said.

Grannyjay Mon 25-May-20 18:23:57

To give in to the abusive threatening media who can whip up mass hysteria with their selective worded articles full of allegedly comments. They have nothing to do with doing the right thing and more to do with getting the biggest story. It’s well known they hate him because he doesn’t pander to their stupid questions. Watching it on tv listening to the pathetic repeated questions, maybe they would have felt better if he just bowed down and licked the media’s backsides. He has a incredibly important demanding job and not a normal nine to five job. I too think it was a media witch hunt. I don’t think he should resign.
