Since covid began. Of course there are caveats, but thank you, thank you, to all the scientists, and nhs staff whose tireless work has got us to this position..

A wonderful day

Good news, long May it continue.

shysal Tue 01-Jun-21 17:14:02

I think that will change once the new cases of Delta (Indian) Covid progress in severity over the next few weeks.

I join you in thanking all those who are working so hard.

Alegrias1 Tue 01-Jun-21 17:16:31

Well that didn't last long.

LauraNorder Tue 01-Jun-21 17:17:44

I agree wholeheartedly. Thank you also to our government thrown in at the deep end, who had to make difficult decisions, enabled furlough to keep people safe, put up the finance to keep the economy afloat, got the vaccinations on order in good time.
Thank you also to the people who kept the lights on, the water flowing, the bins empty, the supermarket shelves stacked, the checkouts manned, the produce growing, the livestock well, law and order, fire services, so many unsung heroes.
Thank you from me too.

Yes, I agree, and would expect the government to wait until a higher % of individuals have had both doses.

They talk about herd immunity at 70% I think, so that seems sensible.

It’s a wonderful day to have no Covid deaths to report.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Jun-21 17:21:16

Yes it’s the first day U.K. has had zero deaths, England had zero yesterday.

Wonderful news

PippaZ Tue 01-Jun-21 18:02:05

Not the end of the journey but a big step along the way. I would add my thanks to all those who have worked so hard, such long hours and in such precarious circumstances to bring us this far.

Daisymae Tue 01-Jun-21 21:01:34

It's excellent news.

CanadianGran Tue 01-Jun-21 21:12:04

That is very good news. We are lagging here with our vaccine roll-out so not there yet.
We are booked for our second dose on the 17th, and planning to travel within our province in July. Fingers crossed.

Aveline Tue 01-Jun-21 21:21:54

Good news indeed. It's almost hard to believe. We're so used to bad news.

Urmstongran Tue 01-Jun-21 21:37:10

Fantastic news indeed. The vaccinations we’ve had in our millions (thank you everyone) are holding up against all comers it seems. Remember how scared and anxious we all were this time last year?

Callistemon Tue 01-Jun-21 21:58:36

A glimmer of hope of better times to come!

Thank you from me too, to everyone who has worked so hard to keep us safe, to care for us throughout illness, held the hands of the dying and the other unsung heroes who have helped to keep us fed, and to keep the wheels of our society turning.

Ellianne Tue 01-Jun-21 22:20:20

It's a momentous moment after such a long time.

NotTooOld Tue 01-Jun-21 22:25:39

LauraNorder - well put, entirely agree. The government has done a brilliant job. We have been so lucky.

NotTooOld Tue 01-Jun-21 22:26:43

Sorry, I realise many people will not feel lucky, especially those who have lost loved ones to covid. I did not put that very well.

Zero 'reported' deaths - cynical moi

lemongrove Wed 02-Jun-21 09:05:55

If you live in China or Russia sodapop then yes, go ahead and be cynical.

Lin52 Wed 02-Jun-21 09:14:15

Very good news indeed. Many thanks to all who have worked so hard to get us here. Many behind the lines staff , who barely get a mention, the cleaners of workplaces, the bus drivers, still working throughout , to get people to work and shops. The food process workers, the farmers, the fishermen. All have been so important to keep us fed, clean, and moving .

Am sure the reasonable will not condemn your words. We all think of those who were lost to Covid.
