Scaredycat happy belated birthday wishes..
hello everyone else.
Feeling a little better today, my friend and I had the day in York on Saturday think it help me...
hope you are all doing the best you can...

HowVeryDareYou Mon 12-Sep-22 12:15:28

Good Morning, all on BD. How is everyone? It's bright and sunny. No aqua aerobics - the instructor is now the leisure centre Manager, so all her classes have been cancelled. They are now virtual classes, exercises done to a video on a screen. The instructor-led ones had about 25-30 customers, but only NINE people at a time are allowed to do the virtual ones. I may cancel my £27 a month membership sad x

Anniebach Mon 12-Sep-22 16:33:30

Hi all x

Joyce more days out for you x

HVDY rotten luck your aqua aerobics have been cancelled x

I said yesterday that there had been even more calls to helplines since the death of the Queen, I didn’t mean people were telephoning because the Queen had died, there were
people feeling depressed, anxiety etc , people were affected
without realising they were affected by the constant tv coverage, the mood in the country.

I am not having a hearing test, the problem is definitely the
Apps, no problems with the other channels.

How is everyone?

Doodle Mon 12-Sep-22 16:41:31

Sweetpeasue there are many who have problems with prolapse myself included. It happens to a lot of women as they get older. It is possible that this is causing you pain. Do you know what they are going to do on Tuesday? I’m not surprised you’re concerned after what has happened before but I do hope all goes well. Must have been nice to take a walk in the beach but if you’re anything like me, when you have a worry on your mind, no amount of distraction will help.
We are never truly alone despite what you think. Others care.
I will be praying for you and hoping you get some answers.
Thank you my arms are better now.
HVDY funnily enough I use subtitles too. Even when it’s in English. I watch some programmes in a foreign language and just tend to leave subtitles on all the time.
Well if that’s your idea of a lazy weekend ?. Sorry your brother is in pain. Have they given him painkillers to help?

Doodle Mon 12-Sep-22 16:46:31

Joce glad you are feeling a bit better, I like York. It’s a lovely place to visit. Hope you had a good day.
HVDY that’s not very good about your aqua aerobics class. I think those sort of things do need an instructor. Is there something else you could join?
Annie I wonder why the Apps are causing a problem. It’s not your TV then. I find depressing sad news upsetting too.
There is a lot of coverage about the Queen. Just been watching the procession in Scotland. So many people lining the route.

HowVeryDareYou Mon 12-Sep-22 17:22:18

Doodle Glad you're feeling better today. My brother was prescribed Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, but he has only been taken them now and then - I've told him that they need to be taken regularly (he's 12 years older than me but I always have to give him advice). I'm looking for something else to join.

Anniebach I hope you get your tv sorted out soon. It's hopeless trying to watch something if the sound isn't good.

SweetPeaSue Thinking of you and wishing you luck for tomorrow.

Is everyone else ok? x

Scaredycat Mon 12-Sep-22 18:54:35

Doodle- yes thank you my daughter really made the weekend lovely including a very pretty cake. I,m going to take a big chunk for my GGC tomorrow.
Glad your arms are feeling better today- I shall think of you when we have ours in October!
Watching the tv today poor King Charles looked so,sad and tired. I hope the family get some private time to grieve they look exhausted already.
Joce- thank you for your kind wishes. So pleased you had a nice day out with your friend . York is such a beautiful city.
HVDY- what a shame your Aqua aerobics is going virtual it just won’t be the same without a live instructor.
Good job your brother has you to look out for him eh!!
Have you thought of joining U3A there are usually many interest groups to join. There might be something you would enjoy.
Annie- I think that although some of the coverage on TV at the moment is uplifting it also brings back peoples memories of personal sadness and loss.
Glad your hearing is nothing to do with your ears- if that makes any sense!!!!
SweetPeaSue- wishing you all the best for tomorrow. You will be in my thoughts
Love to all

Sweetpeasue Mon 12-Sep-22 19:07:24

Annie Our TV is 'Smart' TV but not smart at all. When turning it on it often stays black and we've to pull out the plug and try again. Seems lazy in communicating with our WiFi. We usually have subtitles on too but it must be so annoying for you to not be able to hear other sounds properly. Must interfere with your enjoyment of it and will be very frustrating.
HVDY What a shame about your aerobics as you found it enjoyable and nice to meet with the other regulars. Hope you can find something to take it's place.
Joce Glad you've felt a little better. York is a lovely place to visit. We used to like a quiet walk around York Minster, it's a beautiful Cathedral.
Doodle I'm pleased your arms are better. Not a prolapse as have had MRI scans and vag ultrasound. The pressure and pain builds and in rectum, causes pain inside uterus to be severe. Happens every day now and during night. Op is 2 procedures. 1st is Hysteroscopy (like last time) to thin endometrium lining (as its thickened) and take biopsy. Other Gynaecologist had problem last time getting through cervix. This one also checking no perforation was made. 2nd a Laparoscopy to check for Endometriosis lesions on organs and peritoneal cavity and anything else untoward. Have to be there for 8 and surgery about 9 so won't have to wait long. Thank you for your prayers, I so appreciate that, truly. I watched the service this afternoon too. I'm amazed at how many ceremonies and official duties King Charles is having to cope with, its more than most people could deal with at such a time. They(Royal family) are still flesh and blood human beings. Its all very sad.

Scared but resigned about tomorrow.
Hope you've been OK Scaredycat EllieAnne and everyone on BD.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night. X

Sweetpeasue Mon 12-Sep-22 19:09:41

Not scared but terrified! X

Sweetpeasue Mon 12-Sep-22 19:13:19

Crossed post Scaredycat, thank you x

HowVeryDareYou Mon 12-Sep-22 21:39:29

ScaredyCat I joined U3A a few months ago but haven't gone to any of their meetings yet. I will do something, soon. I lack the confidence/motivation to do things alone. I rang the leisure centre, they said they're going to try to get a new aqua aerobics instructor, as so many people have complained and threatened to cancel their memberships. I don't mind the virtual classes, but they run alongside ordinary swimming sessions, hence why the numbers are so limited.

Son1 has got a new date for his (2nd) driving test - mid-January! He's going to look on the website every morning (it opens at 6am) to try to get an earlier appointment. I hope everyone on BD has a restful night. Mr Cooper and I will be off to bed just after 10pm x

HowVeryDareYou Tue 13-Sep-22 12:45:28

How is everyone today?

It's a lovely, sunny, bright day here. I've done my boring chores, going to aqua aerobics soon.

Hope SweetPeaSue has gone on alright.

Anniebach Tue 13-Sep-22 15:49:12

Hi all x

Thoughts and prayers with Sweetpeasue

The coverage on tv is definitely affecting me, I find it’s like looking through a photograph album of my own life, and bringing back many memories.

The headmaster coming into the classroom, we stood as usual
then he said ‘The King has died’ one of my second cousins
sitting behind me whispered to me ‘whose the king’, !

I was chosen to be the little flower girl on the Carnival Queens
lorry on coronation day.

The investiture brought troubles to Wales, my husband didn’t
know I was giving birth to Catherine, he was on night duty
at a reservoir because the Welsh army! were trying to blow up
reservoirs, her birth was announced over police radio’s, as was
her death.

How is everyone?

Doodle Tue 13-Sep-22 15:50:46

What a busy day today. Been in and out sorting out some of tHe planting in the garden. Old out new in. Getting rained on every time I went out.
HVDY yes the pain killers do need to be taken regularly to be of use. Hope he feels better soon. Is there any kind of keep fit or dance class you could join?
Scardycat my DH didn’t have any aches or pain after the jabs at all. Perhaps I’m just a delicate little flower ?
I too think Charles looks very drawn and exhausted. I have read that his sister is a big support and help to him.
Been thinking about Sweetpeasue and wondering how today is going. Hope to hear sometime soon although it must be quite a lengthy procedure. Hope all goes well.
HVDY my grandson has a driving test booked for Monday……..the day of the Queen’s funeral! I expect it will be cancelled and back on the waiting list again.
Hope you do get a new instructor.
Annie hope you are having a better day.
I feel better. There, that’s my positive for today. Went to see my son and family yesterday and they seemed happier. Fingers crossed and prayers said for them to be trauma free for as long as possible. I’ll take a happy day for a change and try and sleep better. Thinking of you all and hoping something lifts your spirits soon too.

Scaredycat Tue 13-Sep-22 16:42:04

HVDY- yes it’s difficult to go alone to a new club etc but I hope you are able to soon. Winter is more difficult to get out and there are usually lots of interesting indoor groups in U3A.
Glad your Aqua Aerobics may be back in business with a live instructor - good job everyone felt the same. Hope you enjoyed todays session.
That’s a long time for your son to wait for his test - but at least he has a date now.
Annie- you must have made a dear little flower girl - a lovely memory. But some of the memories have been sad for you I,m sorry and the coverage is a bit relentless now.
Like you I remember being told at school that the King had died. My Mum told me that on the Queens Wedding day I spent most of it wearing a lace table cloth on my head to be like The Princess!!
Doodle- how good to hear that you are feeling better today. I hope that your son and his family have some respite now from their worries . How happy we are when our children are happy
We,ve been busy today too. One of my WI friends told me their holiday had to be cancelled because the new passport rules meant theirs were out of date so they couldn’t go. We have a trip in November and so looked at ours - DH passport would have been out of date? and we would have been turned away. The new rules mean you have to have a passport valid for 6 months before your issue date not renewal date!! So mad dash to sort it out.
I do hope SweetPeaSue has had her op by now and that all went well. Xx
EllieAnne,VioletSky, Nanny and all hope you,re having a good day

Sweetpeasue Tue 13-Sep-22 18:35:36

Had op. Found 2 cysts and adhesions. Results from biopsy later. Few problems as not passing urine properly. Bad headache and feeling bad so seen Dr and keeping me in a bit longer. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Have low battery and no charger! Xx

Scaredycat Tue 13-Sep-22 19:06:15

SweetPeaSue- so glad you have had your Op safely. I,m not surprised you don’t feel so good. Hope they are seeing after you well. Wishing you a peaceful pain free nightxx

Doodle Tue 13-Sep-22 19:44:43

Sweetpeasue thanks for letting us know you are ok. You’ve been through a lot. Rest now and try and sleep.
Thanks Scaredycat a little bit of relief goes a long way when you worry all he time. Good job you checked your passports. That would have been a disaster if you’d been turned away.

Sweetpeasue Tue 13-Sep-22 19:52:10

Husband brought phone charger. Keeping me in overnight now. Thank you all

HowVeryDareYou Tue 13-Sep-22 20:40:27

Doodle I could go back to doing the Zumba Gold classes (a bit slower than ordinary Zumba) but they don't have them at the 4 leisure centres I'm a member of. I'll have a think. I'm glad your son and his family seem happier at the moment.

Anniebach I hope you've had a better day today.

ScaredyCat It's a good job you noticed and sorted out the passports.

SweetPeaSue. Glad you've had the op, and hope you'll now get the correct treatment.

All on BD - hope you have a good sleep. I'm looking forward to getting into my clean bed later x

Ellie Anne Tue 13-Sep-22 23:28:25

Sweet pea sue I hope you recover well and get some answers.
I’m so annoyed with myself. You know I probably drink a much but lately I keep wanting biscuits and chocolate. I really want to lose weight but don’t want meals just snacks and maybe sandwiches. I’m so annoyed with myself

Doodle Wed 14-Sep-22 21:12:19

Hello all.
Sweetpeasue wondering how you are getting on. Hope you are feeling ok.
HVDY I’ve had a busy day for a change. Not housework though. Church this morning, hospital for blood test for DH then to the charity shop to deliver some things this afternoon.
It was lovely in church this morning. Special service for the Queen and very moving. Nice chat with some of the others after.
Ellie Ann I’m can cope without the biscuits but I do like wine and chocolate. I put on a lot of weight over lockdown and haven’t lost any. It takes a lot of will power and I don’t have much. Must do something about it. I think I may comfort eat and yet when I have a real worry on my mind my stomach churns so much I can’t eat anything.
Annie have you got anywhere with your TV apps and the sound problem? Have you been watching the coverage of the procession today. Very poignant seeing William and Harry walking together behind the coffin.
Joce how is your little Coco getting on and how are you coping?
Sleep well all

Scaredycat Thu 15-Sep-22 16:08:17

Hello everyone.
Doodle- this week is such a week of reflection isn’t it. Yesterdays procession was so moving and done beautifully.
I used to love wine but alcohol is a no no for me now? but biscuits is a different matter. But like you if I am worried I can hardly eat .
EllieAnne- don’t beat yourself up about what you are eating. Maybe you just don’t feel like cooking much - enjoy your walking and have a little snack when you feel like it.
HVDY- have you been busy today?
SweetPeaSue- I hope you are feeling better today and have left hospital now. Take it easy and be kind to yourself.
Joce- hope today is being kind to you
Annie- is your tele behaving itself now? Did you have the new carer at the weekend? My daughter and GD went to Green Park earlier in the week to lay some flowers and pay their respects to the Queen. They were so glad they went - if I was younger I would have
gone too . So many people queuing to give thanks and say goodbye- what a well loved lady our Queen was.
Hope you are ok.
Love to all

Anniebach Thu 15-Sep-22 16:40:00

Hi all x

I posted yesterday as usual ! Several of my posts vanished.

Have just woken from my power nap, wasn’t suppose to be
3 hours !

Doodle I miss attending church so much, I need the shared
praise x

Scaredycat thank heaven you checked your passports x

HVDY* I so hope you will find a class x

Ellie Anne you are fighting depression my love x

Sweetpeasue hope to hear from you soon.

I am feeling very low, my younger daughter is going on holiday
tomorrow, happy for her but will miss our daily chats on
FaceTime, I do have an hours chat every morning with my carer.

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Thu 15-Sep-22 17:12:37

Doodle Glad you had a good day yesterday

EllieAnne I also crave sweet things, but I eat a lot of fruit too. I need to lose a lot of weight (but then most of the time I can't be bothered to diet)

Anniebach Sorry you're feeling so low. It's good that you've got such a very kind carer. Did you manage to get someone to call in at weekends?

ScaredyCat I love biscuits too, but try not to buy them. If my husband comes in with Jaffa Cakes, we sit and scoff the lot.

SweetPeaSue Hope you're getting on ok.

I went to the day centre today. My brother brought his wife to my house, and I took her from there. She seemed to enjoy it, she chatted to some of the people there and said it had made a nice change. When I was driving her home, she asked me where her bag was - she thought she'd stayed at my house last night sad. Such a shame about her having Alzheimer's. x
