OK the London Borough is a huge borough and plenty of diversity... so why isnt there anyone on the local site. I guess being "Bromley" all the oldies are married upper class Conservatives?????? Well are they?

I don't understand the OP but to answer the question in the header - Yes, I am normal, but I may be the only one wink

I don't think there's any such thing as normal.

And I certainly don't think Bromley is upper class!

(although of course it was over 50 years ago, when I was born there grin )

Soutra Wed 17-Jun-15 11:21:49

Since which time it's gone up down in the world grin !!

FlicketyB Wed 17-Jun-15 14:37:38

Normal is people like me, abnormal is people not like me.

'all the oldies are married upper class Conservatives', well, nationwide that is very large group and absolutely normal then. There is another group 'all the oldies are married lower class Labourites' Are they 'normal' or 'not normal'. Are either of those dismissive definition of people acceptable?

Not to me they aren't.

janerowena Wed 17-Jun-15 18:40:32

grin soutra!

loopylou Wed 17-Jun-15 19:53:37

I'm normal for me grin
Don't know about the rest of you!

An article in the paper today said that the real reason Labour lost the election was because over-65s refused to vote for them.
Only 23% by Ipsos-Mori poll, whereas Tories were supported by 47% of over-65s.
Not that polls are believable any more.

Anya Thu 18-Jun-15 05:54:47

Sigh.

So that leaves 53% of the under 65s who voted Conservatives? Remind me again, what does majority mean?

FlicketyB Thu 18-Jun-15 09:30:58

Anya No. 47% of those over 65 voting for the Tories mean 53% of those over 65 did not vote for them, not that 53% of the Tory vote was accounted for by those under 65.

The 47% refers to the elderly not to the total of conservative voters

janerowena Thu 18-Jun-15 10:25:34

I voted green, despite being born in Bromley. grin

I think, if you really want a local site, you are the one who has to get it going. However, I joined this site to have online communication with intelligent people at a time that suits me (while having a coffee or tea break), not necessarily for meet-ups, although if they happen, then of course that is lovely. I did meet up with a lovely lady a couple of years ago, but I was still doing school runs and working part-time and found I really struggled to make time. I rarely look at the local pages. I suspect most of us don't.

vampirequeen Thu 18-Jun-15 13:20:31

I'm not normal. Don't want to be. I did my 'trying to be normal' bit when I was younger. Now I've decided to be me with all my abnormalities. Much better than fighting to be something you're not.

Anya Thu 18-Jun-15 14:34:24

Oh err....yes, that's right Flickety never at my most alert at 5.54 am blush

FlicketyB Thu 18-Jun-15 15:46:45

I always think of myself as normal and run-of-the-mill, but friends and family always hoot with laughter when I suggest this or when I cannot work out why so few people react to things the way I do.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 18-Jun-15 16:01:11

I am normal.

Anya Thu 18-Jun-15 17:36:54

Me too!

durhamjen Thu 18-Jun-15 17:53:42

Does being normal mean making a mistake when reading percentages, Anya?

Ana Thu 18-Jun-15 18:05:05

It's certainly normal to admit one's mistakes, as Anya did. Not everyone does, of course.

thatbags Thu 18-Jun-15 18:08:23

Yes, it's perfectly normal to make mistakes. Anyone who says they don't make mistakes is not normal.

Rowantree Thu 18-Jun-15 18:51:24

My last name is Normal, and my first is Abby. wink

FlicketyB Thu 18-Jun-15 21:02:30

People who do not admit they make mistakes are only too numerous, does that make them normal?

Personally, I find admitting freely when I have made a mistake and immediately rectifying it so takes people by surprise that they will accept almost anything from me after that

rosesarered Thu 18-Jun-15 21:06:14

Why FlicketyB, you should have been a politician! For any political party I may add.
