This video shows the reality of life for a disabled person after seven years of a Conservative government (with a little help from the LibDems).

Is she an unusual exception, I wonder?

harrigran Thu 01-Jun-17 08:46:06

How rude.

merlotgran Thu 01-Jun-17 08:49:29

How come the political threads are immune from the gransnet guidelines?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 01-Jun-17 08:55:35

Harrigran why on earth is it rude?

I think it is incredibly insulting to expect people to believe lies just because you do even when people have given you the facts which show what you are saying to be untrue.

I realise you are culturally - say what you like and expect people to accept it as gospel even if it is untrue - very different to me even though we live and grew up in the same country. Your way of doing things - it appears - has to be respected but mine apparently doesn't. We are a very divided country and this is one on the reasons why. I find it excessively and exceedingly arrogant and rude to throw untruths and prejudices into an argument and expect people to respect your opinion.

I do not think I can tell you just how incandescent I feel about the lack of basic manners where such things are concerned.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 01-Jun-17 08:56:28

They are not merlot - it is just that GNHQ do not agree with you - or me - on occasion.

harrigran Thu 01-Jun-17 09:06:50

Please do not make assumptions about me.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 01-Jun-17 09:07:51

What have I assumed Harrigran. I am happy to apologise if I have misunderstood what you were saying.

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 09:10:43

What hypocrisy. GG you said at the weekend I wasn't capable of an adult conversation on politics and now YOU jaw on about lack of manners

merlotgran Thu 01-Jun-17 09:12:30

I can't believe you misunderstood harrigran's post,GG2 you're just spoiling for a fight.

Most of us know an insulting post when we see one.

rosesarered Thu 01-Jun-17 09:33:43

We do indeed, and your second post to harrigran is breathtaking in it's cheek and irony GGM2
Your first post was unpleasant and you cannot even see it!

Chewbacca Thu 01-Jun-17 09:37:10

Why does anyone have the right to demand another poster explain why they are joining in on a thread? What right does GGMK2 have to say that Luckylegs has less of a right to post, simply because her opinion differs? Is this not a public forum where all opinions have a voice, not just those that happen to agree with GGMK2, or is GN now being policed and vetted by those that post the most frequently and shout the loudest?

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 09:40:59

Those who post the most frequently Chewbacca , I have been told to shut up, and been told to get off a thread . Too much bossing and bullying going on

angelab Thu 01-Jun-17 10:49:24

Actually chewbacca, GG said "Luckylegs why do you come on here" - I think that was an exasperated, rhetorical point, she wasn't literally demanding an explanation.

Too much whingeing going on...

minesaprosecco Thu 01-Jun-17 11:11:17

This thread is about a severely disabled person whose life is unbelievably difficult and yet it has descended into the usual playground squabble. I personally am incandescent with rage at this government's policies because they are the reason Alex is living as she is. The facts prove it. If you don't want to believe it, that's fine, everyone's entitled to believe whatever they like, but that does not give you the right to get upset when someone produces incontrovertible facts which prove that you are wrong. Alex, and all the others like her deserve a more grown up debate - and the support to live a dignified life. The Tories will not provide that support.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 11:23:20

Well said, prosecco.

whitewave Thu 01-Jun-17 11:27:35

Good post prosecco

Iam64 Thu 01-Jun-17 11:48:31

Round of applause for prosecco x

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 01-Jun-17 12:16:42

Please remember to stick to our (very few) guidelines when posting. Political threads often get heated, we know, but we do ask that members remain civil to each other.

Norah Thu 01-Jun-17 14:12:30

We all vote as we vote, no need for vitriol as it changes not one vote.

rosesarered Thu 01-Jun-17 14:14:04

Well said Norah smile

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 14:45:56

Have you looked at the link in the OP, to see what this thread is about?

Actually, Norah, lots of people are changing their votes this time.

Elegran Thu 01-Jun-17 15:09:50

But does vitriol towards a potential voter attract or repel them? It is most likely to put them off voting for a party made up of members capable of such an attitude.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 15:31:39

Norah said vitriol doesn't change anyone's vote.
Whose vitriol are you thinking about, Elegran?

Have you watched the link on the OP?

whitewave Thu 01-Jun-17 15:31:46

elegran have you ever listened to a particular type of Tory?? Blimey they can give you lessons in vitriol and snobbery

Norah Thu 01-Jun-17 15:39:22

Yes, thank you, I did look at the link in the OP. No thank you, vitriol does not change my vote. I vote based on my opinions to what makes sense to me, what I feel needs change, and who I believe can make such happen.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 15:42:39

So do I, Norah.
I also look at facts about how the country is being run.
Full Facts have just done a factcheck on the NHS and care.

I don't want more of this, thanks.
