Well, according to him, we have voted to "break up the EU"

Erm, no, the vote was just for leaving. Just goes to show how much of a grasp he has.

I despair, that such an ill informed person is in such a position

I feel sorry for the Queen, having to be polite to such a predatory, sexually assaulting, obnoxious oik.

Jura2, I don't want to kowtow to anyone. L am pleased to say that I can't wait for us to lose the shackles of the European Union and the dreadful European Court that undermines our laws. Don't mind trading, as we did before joining in the 70s, I just don't want to be ruled by Brussels. Our government may be far from perfect but at least we elected it and can get rid of it at the next election.

Never a truer word- time to watch this again. I am sure anyone who has met with him recently will say it is getting worse, too:

I have just read this entire thread (very entertaining) and am surprised that no-one has spoken up against the criticism of Mrs May's clothing choices. Whilst I agree that the red evening dress was not a brilliant choice, it wasn't that bad and there was no way she could have competed with Melania anyway - few of us could. Indeed, why should she do so? I think the PM mostly dresses very well indeed.

jura2 Sun 15-Jul-18 21:44:29

I am stunned - you have read the whole thread, and the most important part if Mrs May's choice of dress ...

Not improving the lives of young children separated from parents.
Supporting the gun lobby so no chance of introducing reforms to control weapons - not improving the lives of families who've lost their teenagers in mass shootings..
Happy to boast about pussy-grabbing - how does that improve lives?

NotTooOld Sun 15-Jul-18 22:28:34

No, jura2, that was just the bit that surprised me!

Lilyflower, the Queen has certainly showed hospitality to despots and tyrants, people who support beheadings and torture, so a childish, foot stamping Trump she could easily tolerate for a while. Why are people obsessed with how his wife is dressed? Trump was elected because he said what others were afraid to say, he put USA values to the front, he changes his mind on a whim and I won't watch him, he is embarrassingly boorish and embarrassing. The things he says are polically incorrect, but we are so busy not offending
anyone and not saying what needs saying, I wouldn't wish a Trump on anyone, but rather we need someone who can put this country first and have the strength to do it. I would have found it more difficult receiving Putin.
I find the behaviour of the Mayor of London and that obscene balloon, insulting to our country and the Queen. That Mayor is a joke, he is only interested in himself not our country.

Luckylegs9 Mon 16-Jul-18 06:18:33

Sorry, one too many embarrassing in one sentence.

OldMeg Mon 16-Jul-18 06:50:41

Can’t have too many when referring to Trump LL9!

But of course he’s dangerous. He’s an total idiot with obvious mental health issues and the nuclear code. That’s beyond dangerous.

MaizieD Mon 16-Jul-18 12:04:39

L am pleased to say that I can't wait for us to lose the shackles of the European Union and the dreadful European Court that undermines our laws.

Do you know who was hugely instrumental in forging those 'shackles' and framing many of the laws which you so dislike?

WE WERE.

We = the UK...

And, for the avoidance of doubt, which 'dreadful European Court' are you referring to? The European Court of Human Rights, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the EU? Or the European Court of Justice which was set up to settle disputes on the implementation of EU law?

Fennel Mon 16-Jul-18 12:27:17

At the risk of boring and disillusioning everyone, there are 7 different institutions in the EU:
ukandeu.ac.uk/explainers/the-european-union-the-institutional-system-explained/
I learned about this many years ago when studying for O Level Law, and still forget most of it.

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 12:32:51

But of course he’s dangerous
He is - because he just does not understand the role of POTUS, he is not up to the job and does not have the intellect to learn from those who do.

Besides everything else, of course.
He is not the first world leader to have a sleazy attitude towards women but others, perhaps, managed to hide it.

MaizieD Mon 16-Jul-18 12:53:29

At the risk of boring and disillusioning everyone,

Not at all bored or disillusioned, Fennel. It was very useful.

I have a feeling, though, that the UK wasn't even in the EEC, let alone the EU, when many of us did our O Levels grin

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 12:57:40

I'd never heard of it ....
I did some law as part of a college course but I don't think we touched on the Common Market or the EEC at all.
The Treaty of Rome was in 1958 so perhaps we should have done.

Rhinestone Mon 16-Jul-18 14:17:15

The people did NOT elect Trump. Our out of date electoral college did. He got three million LESS popular votes than Clinton.
And Trump does not out our country first Luckylegs he puts himself first .
He has no understanding of history , he’s a loose cannon with his say anything he wants mouth. He’s a businessman who probably was sleeping in government class. My goodness the man never reads the daily written briefings and he’s proud of it. He has not much focus or attention span. He’s mean, crude and vicious. I want a president who will fight for us and not start wars all over the world and insult leaders. He doesn’t really care about the over two thousand children still not united with their family, nor the teens killed by gun violence. He cares only about those interests that serve him and his re election agenda. What leader, a year after getting elected, has rallies to make himself look better? He riles up the people with put downs and self righteousness behavior. Who does that? Dictators.

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 14:35:15

This was just posted on my FB page. I particularly like these: 'Dear Queen, don't offer him the good biscuits'; 'not my thing, marching, but honestly'; 'I'm from Essex and that tan is dodgy, Babe'; 'Blink twice for help, Melania'

I know this is not funny, but this is British understatement at its best.

gillybob Mon 16-Jul-18 14:41:43

Apparently their tea with her maj was extended by over 20 minutes! Listening to his interview with Piers Morgan he only had good things to say about her too which is extremely gracious considering his non welcome to the UK.

Looking forward to hearing the "when Donald met Vlad" meeting too.

Vivian123 Mon 16-Jul-18 14:43:48

MaizieD
The only courts that I want having a say in this Country's laws are the British Courts. Courts that stop us deporting criminals because they have a pet cat are not the sort that should be allowed to tell us how we can deal with foreign criminals. Human rights should be there for the genuine, not to stop us getting rid of offensive terrorists etc.

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 14:44:43

Perhaps HM was wondering why Melania kept blinking twice whenever she looked at her, gillybob

gillybob Mon 16-Jul-18 14:48:35

Well DT said that her maj was "beautiful inside and out"so maybe that accounts for all the blinking.

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 14:56:07

does he carry a personal ct scanner?

gillybob Mon 16-Jul-18 15:10:33

At the risk of being very boring I think he meant a beautiful mind / personality . I doubt even her maj has “ beautiful insides”.

Just heard on the BBC radio news that DT has congratulated VP on an excellent hosting of the World Cup . I would second that .

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 15:11:45

grin
HM was on her best behaviour, then.
Wonder what she really thought.
