Won’t do a virtual debate - should be empty chaired. Good news

Whitewavemark2 Tue 24-Nov-20 18:20:39

Trump has just made a 30 second speech.

I’ve never seen anything so bizarre.

Biden just introducing his cabinet.

Elegran Tue 24-Nov-20 19:13:05

I imagine he thinks the share index record rise is something that HE has achieved. In a way, he did - by allowing the Presidential transition process to start.

Trump's Thanksgiving message: Gather with family and at church-

Millions are traveling- Republicans and Democrats alike-

A nurse from South Dakota reported that a number of her patients dying from covid are, with their last angry hateful breaths, refusing to believe that they are dying from the virus because the virus is a hoax-

Americans have lost touch with reality- From their enslavement to dates on the calendar to believing in falsehoods instead of science-

Food insecurity is rapidly climbing and the stock market reached record highs-

Despite the current crisis, the housing market continues to boom and house prices continue to rise-

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the pilgrims landing on native American soil-

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Nov-20 09:06:36

Goodness knows how the USA is going to manage in a months time. The virus will be absolutely rampant.

Elegran Thu 26-Nov-20 11:13:10

Trump's message might as well be to gather with your family in church, pray to God to receive your souls, and prepare to die . . . . . .

Rhinestone Thu 26-Nov-20 12:27:46

I live in the states. Trump has done nothing for the people who aren’t in the stock market. $1200 from the government for people like my daughter who is out of work?
Where is his healthcare plan he had four years ago? Where is his caring for his base that supports him? He is a petulant, narcissistic child who cares only of himself and his rich friends. I am disgusted with our government and with the people who run around spouting conspiracy theories about the virus. And to all those who are gathering with family you get what you deserve for not following science. I am appalled by the fact that Trump has allowed racism to tear its ugly head and not condemning those that exhibit it. Biden may not be perfect but he honestly cares for people and will not make the presidency about him. And now Trump is pardoning his cronies who got convicted? I’m so ashamed of what we have become.

Trump lost the election nearly four weeks ago yet he refuses to admit it. Judging by his tweets, he's spiraling even deeper into denial. The Bartiromo interview was a sign that he's prepared to do battle in public -- a disturbing display of weakness that some people interpret as strength.

His Thanksgiving evening Q&A with reporters was another sign of the same thing. After holding a call with members of the military, he fielded questions for the first time in three weeks, though he mostly just deflected and distorted the truth. When he walked out, one reporter asked "Is this the language of a dictator?" and another said, "Mr. President, some people say you're denying reality."

On Sunday's "Reliable Sources," author Jonathan Rauch, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, placed Trump's recent statements in the context of information warfare. Trump is running a "classic Russian-style disinformation campaign," known as the "firehose of falsehood," he said.

In this propaganda model, "you push out as many different stories and conspiracy theories and lies and half-truths as you possibly can, in order to flood the zone with disinformation," Rauch said. "The goal here is to confuse people, and he's doing very well at that. This is a classic propaganda tactic. He is very good at it."

"It's about throwing spaghetti against the wall," he said. "It's anything and everything. It can be wild. It can be random. It's to create confusion and epistemic chaos. And that's what we are seeing."

"And that's very hard for democracies to deal with," he added. "Traditionally, we dealt with it by not doing it. It was unthinkable before Trump for anyone to run this kind of disinformation campaign from the White House against the American public. Once it happens, I think the best defense to start with is for people, at least a lot of people, to understand what's going on, to realize what's happening here."

The US justice department is looking into claims that lobbyists have tried to use bribes to secure a presidential pardon, unsealed court papers show.

They say that in August investigators began investigating a "secret lobbying scheme" possibly involving attempts to contact White House officials.

The redacted filings do not give any names, but the justice department says no government official is being probed.

In a tweet, President Trump referred to the investigation as "fake news".

Trump's behaviour is similar to the Remain campaign following the result of the Referendum in 2016; a refusal to acknowledge defeat, resulting in a huge amount of time wasted which could have been used productively to prepare for the exit.

That's got to be the weirdest and most inappropriate analogy ever! shock

From your post you have experienced the Trump administration first hand. Living in the UK I can only watch and wonder how on earth he ever achieved the role of President. Trump won't care how he behaves from now on. I wonder if he will pardon himself? From what I read there are several lawyers ready to pounce after Biden's inauguration.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Dec-20 12:22:43

Trump looking for pre-emptive pardons for his children, Kushner and Giuliani.

Assuming that pre-emptive pardons actually mean anything, why is Trump giving this consideration if they are innocent if anything.

Extraordinary!!

SarniaSo many of us have lived with this stress from Trump for four years. When we thought it couldn’t get worse it does. Now he’s getting over $170 million dollars from donors for his next campaign for president.
in 2024. But that money will go to him probably to pay for legal fees. His lawyer just asked for a president preempted pardon. So I guess you would only ask for that if you knew you were going to be charged later or knew you were guilty.
People voted for him thinking he’s a millionaire and not a politician. They were tired of politicians . I understand that. But why four years later they support him is a mystery to me. I gave up a friend of thirty years who yelled at me in a restaurant because she loved Trump and I didn’t. She pounded her fist on the table and told me to stop watching a certain tv channel.
He gave up on the virus months ago and there was no direction from our government. While people die he plays golf.
Texas had a two mile line for people to get food from a charity. We all got $1200 as help in April. Nothing else. Us, the greatest nation, a super power. How ashamed I am of what we have become. I cannot wait until Jan when we get our new president.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Dec-20 12:28:26

It looks as if Trump is being looked at for a potential bribery pardon scheme.

No surprise there.

Flynn springs to mind, as it was startling when he changed his mind over spilling the beans, and took a prison sentence for Trump.

Please, President elect Biden, appoint Hillary Clinton as Attorney General and ask her to prioritise prosecuting Trump.

She should be the pone to LOCK HIM UP.

rosecarmel Wed 02-Dec-20 22:41:29

Coming from a position of beyond disgusted makes it difficult to be excited about Biden -- although I do feel relieved that Trump lost the election-

As it stands, both parties have acted irresponsibly during the pandemic- Witnessing the widespread suffering of their collective neglect makes me want to see them all tried for crimes-

Collectively, "they" could have chosen saving lives over saving the economy- But they didnt- Just like when "they" chose to exterminate native Americans in exchange for land-

"They" haven't changed- The "same type of people" have held office since the beginning-

All across the country, hospitals are reaching capacity early in the second wave- And the spike in hospitalizations doesnt yet reflect the inevitable spread from Thanksgiving gatherers and travelers-

Biden is, I'm afraid, too little too late- Accidentally on purpose-

There was a bipartisan bailout of corporations while those needing assistance the most received the least- So damn straight Rhinestone the government failed us as a whole-

Apparently a business belonging to Trump and Kushner received over $2.5 million and a Florida roofing company belonging to Kayleigh McEnany’s parents received $1 million. These funds were intended for small businesses with 10 or fewer employees who were struggling due to the pandemic. This is just the tip of the Iceberg of numerous ways in which Trump, his family and his associates have plundered the US government over the last four years, no wonder he wanted four more years.

Rhinestone Thu 03-Dec-20 13:06:24

Jane43That makes my blood boil. All these big corporations grabbing money as you say. And the republicans say nothing.
My governor has been great in this pandemic even though there was a kidnapping plot against her.

Has Trump got a coronavirus response?

rosecarmel Fri 04-Dec-20 12:35:43

His response is to attend church, gather with family and not be afraid of the virus-

On the same note, Biden gathered with family on Thanksgiving -- despite advising Americans to stay home-

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 12:48:59

I see Trump is busy extracting money out of his followers which appears to be very dodgy.
