Imbalance in feedback opportunities

Every thread has a link to report the thread to GNHQ.

Yet no link to inform GNHQ that one thinks that a thread is good.

Every post has a link to report the post to GNHQ.

Yet no link to inform GNHQ that one thinks that a post is good.

So GNHQ may well get unbalanced feedback.

Alors! Beaucoup de bruit pour rien!

As I have not contributed to the French threads, I have read this one with increasing incomprehension. For it seems to me that HQ started a hare by simply informing the OP that there had been reports about said threads. It therefore seems to me that they simply though that OP (EP) had a right to know that reports had been made.

And my GS' favourite cheese.

I haven't bought that since my DC were young.

I recognise that laughing cow, she looks like the leader of the pack, sorry herd, that escaped on to the motorway.

Chewbacca Mon 02-Aug-21 22:30:53

It appears so annodomini. And they've since qualified that further by confirming that the report button can be used for letting them know if a thread is enjoyable, worthy of being included in their newsletter etc. All queries addressed.

I have no clue what's going on either! Even though I have contributed some rubbish.

MawBe Mon 02-Aug-21 23:08:15

Actually threads do not have a report button.
The opening postof a thread has a report button as do all subsequent posts

So having redefined our terms, do we have to start all over again? ?????

I buy black bomber from the farm shop if you want to talk about cheese. I love tintern but I cannot find it atm as I'm not going to supermarkets

Do they sell it in any farm shops near you?

Yes, both are delish.

Chewbacca Mon 02-Aug-21 23:19:05

Love a lump of Black Bomber with a bit of celery, silver skin onions and crackers.

You realise that you will probably trigger an algorithm and either MI6 or the Bomb Squad will be round GNHQ?

black bomber ??!! what !
that sounds all kinds of wrong.
worse than plantation shutters.
another thing i've never heard of.

Callistemon Mon 02-Aug-21 23:35:59

Black Bomber is well worth trying, welbeck, it won best cheese in the UK.

Tintern is delicious too if you like cheese with added flavourings, in this case shallots and chives.

Hi all

As moderators, our job is to sift through the trickier, more contentious stuff on site - we actually do miss out on the brilliant stuff.. particularly when busy!

However, don't be fooled by the report button. You can hit report to shout 'good read' or 'worth sharing in the newsletter' or even 'this will make you chuckle'.

Trust me - we'd really appreciate it, and it's something that doesn't happen often. But we're here for the good as well as the bad, so never be afraid to share with us by hitting the report button. flowers

Thank you for writing.

Thank you for the explanation.

Well everyone there is the opportunity. If you consider that having more than one thread for a language is a good idea and useful and that the idea of a café thread all in that language and a garden thread mainly in English to discuss the language and what is being said in the café thread so as to enable people to learn, then you have the opportunity to use the report facility to express your opinion to GNHQ.

So, here is a delightful video that I found after reading a post in the garden thread about the story in the French past historic tense.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhf2m9Rncww

There are subtitles in both French and English.

The artwork is fantastic.

So a delightful video found serendipitously by reading this thread.

The thread to which I referred is as follows.

I sit in front of my plantation shutters whilst eating my Black Bomber. Should I be alarmed that I have both? confused

BlueBelle is correct.

GNHQ (whatever that is) is not interested in gaining ‘feedback’.

Well, the post from LilyGransnet shows that that is not the case.

You can’t beat the British cheeses. I go out of my way to find them here . There is one called Wookey Hole we like and I like the sound of it,too. Sometimes we can get a good blue Stilton but often it is Danish blue masquerading as the same. Hey, should I start a cheese thread or maybe not, could be boring?

Et une grande amélioration car nous savons maintenant qu'un rapport qu'un fil est très bon est possible.

A translation into English of the above French is as follows.

And a big improvement because we now know that a report that a thread is very good is possible.

I have now reported the post quoted.

Here is a transcript of what I wrote.

Good morning

As a result of your helpful post I am trying out how one sends in a positive report of a post to GNHQ.

Until I saw your post I had thought that perhaps clicking the report button would just report the post, I did not realise that the report facility worked by first going to a reporting page.

Lucca Tue 03-Aug-21 08:45:23

Enough said then? I do think whoever “reported” your threads EP was a bit excessive but as the thread was not deleted surely it doesn’t matter. Tout un orage dans une tasse de thé as I’m sure the French don’t say!

Ellianne Tue 03-Aug-21 08:52:05

trisher

I've just found this. Someone suggesting feedback opportunities on GN! They'll be plotting revolutions next-OH! I've just thought is that why there are so many French threads??? Are you organising? I've got my knitting ready. (But someone will have to tell me when it starts my French isn't good enough)

Thought we'd get back to you trisher to keep you posted. The thread on the Stonehenge tunnel will reveal to you the times and place of our secret meetings. Just be careful not to run into any druids, they can get violent, especially when you're on the wrong team. The code word is fromage.

So the tunnel is to join up with the Channel tunnel - fromage!
