Please note everyone!

Please stop saying things like ' thank you ladies'.

There are quite a few men now on GN so I shall say peeps or guys or folks......are they ok or will I end up being pilloried on the pedants threads??

ginny Tue 07-Jul-20 17:52:54

Don’t say guys, I’m not one. ?

ginny Tue 07-Jul-20 17:54:03

Where are the stocks and rotten tomatoes?

varian Tue 07-Jul-20 17:57:18

I'm happy for there to be men on GN, but I've always wondered if there was a Grandadsnet, or for the matter a Dadsnet.

Galaxy Tue 07-Jul-20 17:58:22

There is a dadsnet. Not used much.

I started ‘I’m a Pear’ thread 2 years ago. All of us trying to lose weight or maintain it. We only, so far, have female members. When I am referring to them I call them all Losers and they appear to like that. ?. However I get your point Kitty.

That's ok by me kate but I've seen a few threads lately where there are quotes as above.

We need more men - not to scare them away!!

I'm off. ???

I have never seen men referred to as "pears" on this forum. Indeed, it is the first time I have seen males referred to in that term anywhere.

Mind you, I have been called just about everything else on this forum, but then I have that effect on people. ??

Galaxy Tue 07-Jul-20 18:27:49

I hate being called ladies.

grumppa Tue 07-Jul-20 18:35:04

Thank you kittylester. Mind you, there may be some threads specifically for women where no man would fear to tread anyway.

Since GNHQ says we are allowed an opinion without being attacked personally I’m going to ask this:
Why do men come on GN ? Why don’t they seek out male orientated sites ?
I find it odd that they want to listen to women moaning about trivia and as we ( I ) do .
My personal experience is that men lurk.
When I used to go to parties I would often find someone’s husband eavesdropping when we were chewing the fat in the kitchen . I had one friend whose husband would never leave her alone with anyone else. When I phoned he wanted to be part of the conversation too.
I realise I am stuck in the dark ages but I wondered if anyone else agrees with me ?

I also hate "ladies" it just smacks of a variety of unpleasant scenarios, "ladies nights" for one hmm I know a lot of people hate being referred to as guys, but all the younger members of our family use that expression, usually to the both of us, and we were used to being addressed that way on occasions when out in various eating establishments, although not a lot of that lately sad

PinkCakes Tue 07-Jul-20 18:48:21

I don't like "you guys" or "girls" for us older females grin

MissAdventure Tue 07-Jul-20 18:50:37

Dudes and dudettes?

Because it's a forum for grandparents!!

I welcome the few men we have and I would hate it just to be for women.

PinkCakes Tue 07-Jul-20 18:52:46

MissA No, that's even worse grin.

I don't mind "ladies"

Marydoll Tue 07-Jul-20 18:54:15

This site was never intended to be just for women. The name is misleading.
I too enjoy the input from the gentlemen. I may not always agree with their point of view, but it adds a different perspective to threads.

MissTree Tue 07-Jul-20 18:56:46

I didn’t know that, Marydoll. I thought it was a site for Grans. ?

MissAdventure Tue 07-Jul-20 18:56:55

I don't mind "ladies" either, PinkCakes, but it upsets some.

shandi6570 Tue 07-Jul-20 19:06:22

My step daughter refers to everyone as peeps, my step granddaughter says guys, or more probably 'you guys', I just agree or nod as I don't mind what we are called (within reason). Names are a mine field these days.

Grandad1943 Tue 07-Jul-20 19:08:02

Me and I believe Rufus2 both use the term Ladies or even Good Ladies on my part. However, I will now cease to use that term as I now understand some of you Good Ladies do not like it. ?

Seriously though, I will stop using the termination in the interests of preserving a peaceful forum. ?

janeainsworth Tue 07-Jul-20 19:09:49

I’m unreconstructed enough to feel quite pleased if someone refers to me as a lady.
But of course I identify as a woman grin

Liz46 Tue 07-Jul-20 19:11:50

I’m pleased I have not seen the term ‘hunni’ on here.
