Tell Warner Leisure Hotels what you like treating yourself to when on holiday in the UK NOW CLOSED

Warner Leisure Hotels has asked us to find out what gransnetters like treating themselves to when they’re on holiday in the UK.

Here's what Warner Leisure Hotels have to say, "At Warner we are great believers of getting involved in different activities and treating yourself. Whether that is a spot of afternoon tea with friends, a new dance workshop or watching a live band perform. Our guests have long been telling us that a holiday is all about a bit of 'me time' so we’d love to hear what you treat yourself to."

So, when you're on holiday in the UK, what do you like treating yourself to? Do you enjoy going for a nice swim somewhere? Do you use it as an excuse reason to be slightly more indulgent in your eating? Or are you a more adventurous type and like to treat yourself to something like a helicopter ride around the beautiful surrounding British countryside? Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it!

Everyone who adds their thoughts will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 M&S voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

GNHQ

yes I would also like to meet other singles for chats and a hotel that made sure we were not alone all of the time

Like a comfy room with Wi-Fi big bed activities in hotel friendly staff nice garden with seats rooms with a view. Would love some dog friendly Warner.Hotels (smile )Placed especially near Sherwood forest. Staff that help people on their own. Gluten free food especially bread. Tea making facilities.

I love all the wonderful things you might expect on a holiday e.g. good food, entertainment, dancing, relaxing, pampering etc. in fact everything that Warner's have to offer. I also like a really nice welcome and being made to feel special. It is just my husband and myself enjoying each others company for a few special days away. What more could I ask for?!

A large comfortable bed, feather pillows, crisp sheets, snuggly duvet.

A large bath (such a treat as I only shower at home to save money) and gorgeous toiletries.

Good food, plenty of choice in welcoming surroundings. Conversation of other guests not intrusive.

Quality evening entertainment, good seating for this so I don't need to bolt my food to get a good seat.

Plenty of daytime activities to choose from, but quiet and comfortable sitting areas if I don't choose to take part.

Decent sized room, super kingsize bed with a good mattress, cotton linen. Great shower with loads of gushing hot water. Kettle with Earl Grey & Lapsang Souchong teabags. Fresh milk readily available for the english breakfast tea drinker. (Not these ghastly little carton things that splash everywhere when you try to pull off the top). A choice of vegetarian food which does not taste as if it has been pulled from a supermarket freezer. Controllable heating. Windows that open & no noisy horrible aircon. Free wifi.

Outside a secure bike shed & a place to take off & leave muddy boots.

And no patronising staff just friendly people with a passion for their job.

Ah! Should have checked that previous message which disappeared into ether last night had not miraculously posted itself. But it has. Sorry!

Purpledaffodil Fri 22-Nov-13 14:48:32

Quiet aircon for warm nights, controllable heating for cool ones.
Quiet room, not cupboard sized, with a view as a bonus.
Lovely food in sensible portions. NB 3 felafel are not a reasonable portion. (Hotel in Nottingham, you know who you are)
Two comfortable armchairs. Why is there usually only 1 and that like rock?
Good wifi in the rooms. Don't want to Skype offspring in foreign parts as public entertainment/nuisance.
Helpful staff who know their area.
And big beds, not 2 singles pushed together please.

Purpledaffodil Thu 21-Nov-13 22:58:24

Free wifi a must and in rooms, do not want to crouch in reception area to send an email or Skype offspring in foreign parts.
Good food with choice, served reasonably early for those of us who will be awake all night if we eat at 10pm. No need for Desperate Dan portions, but 3 small felafel are not enough.
Helpful, competent staff who know their local area.
Two comfortable armchairs. Noticed I am not the only one who wants this. Probably because I always end up scrunching the bed while Mr PD hogs the sole and usually rock hard armchair.
A walk in shower is lovely. Makes a change from the claustrophobic one at home.
Easy to control temperature. Quiet air con for hot weather and warmth from radiators in winter. Someone suggested log fires. Great idea, but have never stayed anywhere so posh. Log burning stoves in public areas are good in the winter IF there is also enough light to read by.
Enough free parking please.
Not really outrageous wants are they?

I have stayed at Warners on several occasions. I like the upgraded rooms now on offer. Having spent years camping/caravanning with a large family of children! The choice of food is good and the staff second to none - always helpful and kind. Entertained by Joe Loss Band at Hayling Island recently.

I've just come back from a course at Denman College (the WI adult education college near Oxford) and - dare I admit this - what I really enjoyed was sleeping on my own. Knowing that I could get up and go to bed when I felt like it, sit up all night reading or writing or listening to the radio and not have to consider the needs of another person. Don't get me wrong I love my husband and like being with him but as someone said a change is as good as a rest.

Having read the above, I now imagine my friends who are widows telling me I don't know how lucky I am and what they'd give to be able to share a bedroom again. Oh dear, you can't win 'em all.

Clean comfortable accommodation with good company. Occasional treat perhaps eating out or the odd beauty treatment but the main treat? RELAXING from the every day stresses of life and some ME time

hollystone Mon 18-Nov-13 15:38:35

A room on the top floor with a good view both inside and out.
Plenty of places to get good food and a drink and the chance to socialise and meet new people.
Lot's of places of interest or nice walks.
And looking to the future hopefully to be able to have the pleasure of taking my new baby Grandson (only Grandchild) on holiday with us.

Can I also mention sound-proofing? Even expensive London hotels often have flimsy walls and we are disturbed by our neighbours.

dahlia Sat 16-Nov-13 19:51:01

A really good breakfast! And all of the above.

nanaseaside Sat 16-Nov-13 11:51:43

Generous size rooms, good quality comfy furniture. I love to feel cosy! Nice rural views and walkable grounds. Unlimited decaf coffee in room. Option to learn a new skill or be creative, but no pressure. Short local walks with a printed guide and points of interest. Meals of top quality ingredients, beautifully presented. A decent size bathroom, not a 'wee in a wardrobe' set up! Nice range of bathroom products. Dressing table mirror by window, for good daylight, and brightly lit for evening prep. Also plug sockets by dressing table for hair styling. Full length mirror (to check I haven't tucked dress in knickers). Most important of all? A genuine, warm welcome!

For me it's all about spending time with family or friends. That's the "treat" of a holiday, not lavish spending.

teleaddict13 Fri 15-Nov-13 21:46:15

MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE TO GO ON THESE ADULT ONLY SHORT BREAKS,
THEY MAKE US FEEL YOUNG AGAIN WITHOUT ANY WORRIES FOR THE WEEKEND.
WE LIKE A LOVELY COMFORTABLE ROOM AND NICE SURROUNDINGS WITH GOOD FOOD AND GREAT ENTERTAINMENT WHICH IS WHAT WE DO USUALLY GET AT WARNERS HOTELS.
WE LIKE PLAYING FRIENDLY SPORTING GAMES AND QUIZZES WITH PEOPLE LIKE OURSELVES. WE HAVE A LEISURELY SWIM AND A GAME OF BOWLS, THINGS WHICH WE DON'T USUALLY DO.
IT IS NICE TO JUST SPEND TIME TOGETHER AND RELAX FOR A CHANGE WITHOUT RUNNING AROUND FOR THE FAMILY JUST FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS .

wo2382 Fri 15-Nov-13 21:18:49

Just give me a little bit of what everyone else wishes ,Iam sure I would then be happy, for I always seem to spend my life pleasing others .Now it is my time.

teaganuk Fri 15-Nov-13 17:53:44

I love a Jacuzzi/Spa followed by a cocktail/champagne or 2 and a gala dinner smile

BrenML Fri 15-Nov-13 16:07:03

I loved it when Warner used to have murder mysteries. They would start in the afternoon and go on through dinner with the actors, those that didn't get murdered, would sit one on each table. Great fun.

Annie29 Fri 15-Nov-13 15:28:28

I like to treat myself when on holiday to things I don't have as a routine at home. A change is a good rest
I like to go to places with good reviews.

libra10 Fri 15-Nov-13 13:17:48

When on holiday my husband and I love the chance to relax and explore the countryside and coastlines of the UK.

It's also a chance to forget the diet and indulge in excellent food, without counting the calories.

We also like to see shows which are friendly and entertaining, relaxing with a drink and chatting with friends.

All the above we have gained with Warners at Bodelwyddan Castle, North Wales.

A great choice of wonderful food, the hotel is surrounded by wonderful countryside, spread out in front of our rooms, with Snowdonia on the doorstep. Lots of walking through interesting scenery.

The entertainment is first-class, and we love the evening entertainment.

That's why we keep coming back!

wiggy Fri 15-Nov-13 11:44:43

I love treating myself to the gorgeous food on offer. I love the luxury of being away in a elegant room, which is clean and crisp and indulgent.
