After the outcry about Meghan Markle’s eye wateringly expensive engagement picture dress, her white dressing gown coat and her hat on Boxing Say, is nobody prepared to give her credit for booosting a British manufacturer and opting for a high street piece?

Details of what any member of the RF wear are released to the Press (watch Royal Ascot, all the details of what the Queen is wearing are released just before she arrives).

I personally wouldn't rush out can't afford to buy anything worn by a member of RF or Celebratieshmm

Kate has had a good influence on British Designers by wearing their clothes. I just wish every-one would stop comparing her & Meghan.

she's hardly a "GIRL" for goodness sake ,she would have been middle aged until fairly recently and she's been married and divorced so not an innocent either.NIGGLY I dont just dislike royalty I abhorr the whole concept .You do know countries without monarchs get masses of tourists too and the PM 's or Presidents dont cost them over 300 MILLION a year ? Nor do their offspring automatically get the job when they die.Its called a MERITOCRACY ...where people have to work hard to get to the top of the tree .W O R K now thats a word a lot of the RF dont understand the concept of at all !!

paddyann Sun 14-Jan-18 11:01:55

called middle aged

nigglynellie Sun 14-Jan-18 11:14:06

Paddyann, why do you find it necessary to shout?! It's undignified and a tad childish! Surely you can express your views in a more measured way without resorting to hysterics?

NotTooOld Sun 14-Jan-18 11:21:49

Well, that's ridiculous, that jumper could have come from anywhere as you can't see it to make a judgement. Would those MnS balloon sleeves have fitted under that slim cut coat? Would the length of the MnS jumper tuck into trousers nicely even if one is ultra slim? See, one is already talking in one's royal voice.

I was hoping the press would leave Megan alone . I can't see Harry allowing his partner to suffer as his mum did ,and in consequence I fear one day he will say 'enough' and walk away. we will be the losers , as he is a great asset to the country and backup for William

What a storm in a teacup!! No football fans in this family, thank goodness! So it's the Royal Wedding for us in May!

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 12:05:58

Football or a royal wedding, I will have no need to toss a coin ?. Wonder if Charlotte is too young to be a bridesmaid , bet George will be a page boy.

Like Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump?
Yeah, right! hmmhmm

NannyMargaret48 Sun 14-Jan-18 12:11:56

There really are some unpleasant people on this website. PaddyAnn!!! Glad I don't have to mix with you in "real life"

nigglynellie Sun 14-Jan-18 12:44:07

annie, you'll have to channel hop!! I would guess both children will have a part to play - what will they wear, will they behave, will the happy couple get their names right?!!! The gossip in me is gearing up already!!!

nigglynellie Sun 14-Jan-18 12:45:27

their respective names that is! grin

annifrance Sun 14-Jan-18 13:39:50

Please stop calling her Harry's latest squeeze. That's offensive. She's his fiancee soon to be his wife and member of the RF. Probably to be a duchess, good luck to her. I don't envy her with what is to come vis a vis the press and other detractors.

Camelotclub Sun 14-Jan-18 13:50:15

I just can't wait to see the first child!

Ramblingrose22 Sun 14-Jan-18 14:03:02

Camelotclub - why can't you wait?

nigglynellie Sun 14-Jan-18 14:05:32

Why?

MissAdventure Sun 14-Jan-18 14:08:04

Why not? There are worse things to look at than a baby.

ninny Sun 14-Jan-18 14:27:53

I think Megan is charismatic she always looks lovely whether casual or dressed up she sparkles like Diana did. I prefer Megan and Harry to Kate and William and think they will be more popular. As for rushing out and buying a jumper from M and S because she has one I don't think so.

rafichagran Sun 14-Jan-18 14:54:55

I do not like her being reffered to as his sqeeze either. She is lovely and stylish.
I knowsome people here do not like the monachy, but to say work is a concept they do not understand is rubbish, they are like the whole of the world of work, some work harder than others.
When it comes to the monarchy some posters on here are bloody nasty.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 14-Jan-18 15:13:40

humbertbear
So if the 'royals' are to be in frugal mode , highly unlikely, then maybe this is what we are observing with a coat recently seen to be worn by the Duchess of Cambridge now in her third pregnancy ?

Overthehills Sun 14-Jan-18 15:22:45

I’m not particularly pro RF but I really can’t see why a few people on here need to be so nasty about them. And aren’t there GN guidelines about shouty capitals?
Hear hear Maw.

Bridgeit Sun 14-Jan-18 15:49:22

As I have said before, none of us get to choose who we are or what circumstances we are born into. If they all abdicated tomorrow it would make no difference to our own lives, however there would be a lot of employees out of work, less tourists in London etc etc ,& guess what your life & mine would be no different than it already is & we wouldn't have any more or less than what we already do .At least they are more cheerful to look at than Presidents, politicians etc & they at least try to do some good in the world. !!!

eazybee Sun 14-Jan-18 15:50:31

Sad to be so spiteful, paddyann, and the use of capital letters is becoming increasingly tiresome. Appearing in other posts too.

MissAdventure Sun 14-Jan-18 15:58:16

I'm indifferent to the royal family. I have no interest, and I'm glad that's all I feel about about them. I wouldn't like to think I would dislike people due to their birth circumstances, whatever they were.

trisher Sun 14-Jan-18 16:15:32

If I was to describe those supporting the RF as "crawlers" they would probably be very upset, but they seem to think being personally abusive to someone because they don't like the concept of monarchy is OK.
And there aren't GN Guidelines about capitals but there are about personal abuse.
It's surprising how many people are unable to seperate the person and the role. To disapprove of someone because they are part of what you regard as an out dated institution is nothing to do with liking or not liking them as a person. I really don't understand how people can claim to like someone who they know only through carefully edited press and TV appearances.
