Inspired by Soop’s kitchen, I wondered if any of you are brave (?) enough to post a picture of you in your wedding dress?

Go on, go on, go on!

I wouldn't fit into mine now

Absolutely not I was 5 months pregnant grin it wasn't white I will say that. Come to think of it wasn't white the first time either.

I went shopping for my wedding dress looking for satin with a lace bodice but ended up with all lace, a size 10 which had to be taken in. I wish I could say that I am still the same size! It ended up in the Playgroup dressing up box, cut down to fit the children. I remember getting my hair done at the hairdressers in the morning but hated it so washed it out and did it again myself to feel more like the real me. Sadly we divorced after more than 30 years.

Did it in the kitchen, will do it here!

Does anyone else watch 'Say Yes To The Dress' on every afternoon on Quest Red? It is my rainy day guilty pleasure. The wedding dresses are gorgeous but cost thousands of pounds!

Mine was lace, adorned with little pearls -each and every one sewn on by hand by my mum. Also on the hem and veil.
A labour of love!

I shall send Mr.Gravy into the loft of lost things to find our wedding album. If it’s located I will definitely post a photo !!!

All you brides look stunning in your wedding photographs.

grandtanteJE65 the fabric on your dress looks exquisite. Is it silk? Your parents’ picture is just so lovely. I too, have a Wedding photograph of my Dear Mum and Dad on display. It warms my heart every time I look at it.

TerriBull Fri 21-Jun-19 12:43:46

Quite sure we weren't the only ones sodapop, now there's a thread in the making, pregnant at your own wedding grin

Beautiful brides ladies! I loved the pearl encrusted dress. That should be in a museum or at least a glass case somewhere. A real labour of love by that mum.

Here I was aged 20y with my lovely dad who sadly died 3 years later from cancer.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Jun-19 12:58:37

Mr.Gravy is unsuccessful so far, but I have these photos on my phone of my parents.

Sorry it is not the whole outfit but suffice to say it was Christmas and the dress and jacket were red, A-line, quite short and the hat white maribou. I was always a rebel!

dragonfly46 Fri 21-Jun-19 13:01:15

Where is yours Maw?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Jun-19 13:01:42

My parents

I'd love to post a photo of mine, but I'm away on holiday and all the wedding photos are prints sitting at home.

I wore my mother's dress - I'd always said I would. My parents were married in 1940, I wore the dress in 1975. I was a bit slimmer than she was when she got married (I'm not now!!) so some adjustments were needed. The dress itself was in perfect condition. I still have it but only a son, not a daughter to consider wearing it. Doubt my granddaughter will want to, but at least it can become part of the family heritage stuff.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Jun-19 13:08:18

C’mon Maw share on here too!

I would gladly put a wedding photo on here but I don't know how to!! blush

Maggiemaybe Fri 21-Jun-19 13:17:24

Did anyone else have photos of them and the groom sitting in a champagne glass in their album? grin

Grammaretto Fri 21-Jun-19 13:24:57

What beauties you all are and your parents.
Both sets of our parents were registry office wartime brides and grooms. We had a Quaker wedding and didn't dress up either.
I'm quite glad actually as what do you do with the dress afterwards?
Our DC have made up for our austere weddings with lavish to my mind outfits and all the men in kilts

Urmstongran Fri 21-Jun-19 13:34:49

Oh I couldn’t ever have afforded such a beautiful dress Grammaretto (neither could my parents). I hired it.
Savvy me!

dragonfly46 Fri 21-Jun-19 13:40:35

I wore my outfit for years and years until it wore out!
